This reflective poem is inspired by Yoga Sutra 1.9: Śabda-jñānānupātī vastu-śūnyo vikalpaḥ Imagination is a mental movement based on words and ideas, empty of an actual object. A single word can create a whole world inside the mind. “What if?” “Failure.” “Success.” “I am behind.” “They may judge me.” Before anything has actually happened, the body may already be reacting to a story created by thought, language, and imagination. This poem invites you to notice the worlds made of words, and gently return from imagined fear to breath, body, ground, and presence. You are also warmly invited to join the Living the Yoga Sutras group here on Insight Timer, where we bring the sutras into meditation, reflection, and daily life. See the story. Return to the breath. Rest in what is here.
