This reflective poem is inspired by Yoga Sutra 1.6: Pramāṇa-viparyaya-vikalpa-nidrā-smṛtayaḥ Correct knowledge, misperception, imagination, sleep, and memory are the five movements of the mind. Patanjali gives us a simple map of the inner world. The mind knows, misunderstands, imagines, sleeps, and remembers. These movements shape how we experience ourselves, others, and life. This poem is an invitation to gently observe the mind without judgment, to recognise what is moving within you, and to rest in the awareness that sees it all. Listen when you feel caught in overthinking, memory, confusion, imagination, or emotional reaction. You are also warmly invited to join the Living the Yoga Sutras group here on Insight Timer, where we explore Patanjali’s teachings through reflection, practice, poetry, and daily life. Recognise the movement. Pause before believing it. Rest in awareness.
