Greetings.
Did you know that you can direct the energy from your day?
It all starts by waking up.
So waking up and thanking your bed for holding you throughout the night before getting out of bed,
Taking a moment to set your intention for the day.
It truly works.
Years ago when I started this practice,
There was a day that I did not set my intention.
I just got up and hurried about my day and I put my headset on and I called my best friend on the way to Starbucks,
Who my best friend was in his 80s.
And it was just another to-do thing to check it off my list.
And when he answered the phone,
He says to me,
Did you meditate this morning or set the intention or whatever it is that you do?
Did you do that this morning?
And I was at a red light and I hung my head down and I told him no.
He says,
Ah,
Okay.
He says,
We'll try again tomorrow.
And he hung the phone up on me and I was really mad.
So the next day I got up and I set my intention for the day and it brought me into balance.
It brought me into my center.
It helped me to focus.
And so what happens is by speaking the words in the morning,
It sets the energy flow for the rest of the day.
I teach this to many of my clients.
How it came about was many years ago.
There was a client I had and he told me that every single day his days were awful and how could he change that?
And so we began a practice.
I invited him to purchase a small notebook to keep beside his bed.
And each morning to write the date.
And if he set the intention for the day,
He made a checkmark next to the day.
And if he forgot,
He didn't check that day.
He practiced this for about two weeks.
And he comes back in for an appointment and he says,
How does it work?
He said,
I checked and the days that I set the intention,
My days were fantastic.
He said,
Of course,
There are a couple little speed bumps maybe here and there,
But the day was fantastic.
It flowed.
He said,
But those days that I did not set the intention,
It was horrible.
I had horrible days.
How does it work?
You are literally commanding and setting the energy forth before you to request to command of how you would like your day to go.
So let's practice that,
Shall we?
Go ahead and close your eyes.
Just feel into your body.
Where are you holding tension?
There's no judgment.
Just notice it.
Is it in your shoulder blades?
Notice what your jaw is doing.
How does your face feel?
What about the skin on your scalp?
Can you invite that skin to relax a little bit more?
Go ahead and drop the jaw down.
Notice what your fingers are doing.
Maybe even give them a little wiggle.
Breathe into that heart,
Expanding the chest.
Relaxing ribs.
Soften the belly.
Wherever you're seated at this moment,
Go ahead and give yourself to that.
Go ahead and drop down the weight into your seat and trust whatever you're sitting on is there to support you.
Relax the knees.
How are your feet feeling?
Maybe give the toes a little wiggle.
How about your lower back?
If you need to,
You can move a little bit.
And if you're listening to this at the beginning of your day,
This is a practice with your eyes closed and body softened.
Nervous system is still and calm.
I now set the intention that my day will flow with grace and ease.
Or it could be I now set the intention that everything good comes my way.
I now set the intention to always come back to the present moment.
I now set the intention that money flows easily to me.
I now set the intention to release any and all pain.
I now set the intention to smile more.
I now set the intention that my heart is open to give and receive more love.
I now set the intention to remind myself to complete this practice every day.
And so it is.
