Hello there and welcome to In The Flow with Lori Albert.
So it was my birthday last week.
Yay!
Love birthdays,
Right?
They're just happy,
Right?
And my dear dear friend got me this amazing present.
It's called the Big Book of Happiness.
And these,
It's like bright yellow.
Everything's bright yellow about it,
Right?
And it's like one of those decks of cards where you,
It's,
There's probably a hundred cards here.
And what happens is,
Is that,
What happens is that you pick a card.
If you want to feel happy,
You pick a card and you do whatever it says on the card.
And some of the examples are make breakfast for dinner,
Go on a hike,
Put on something warm right from the dryer.
That's kind of a fun one,
Right?
Call your best friend.
So it's awesome,
Right?
So,
You know,
And then smile for a full minute.
Oh my god,
Right?
So I was reading all of these cards and I was like,
That's pretty amazing,
Right?
I love,
You just take a deck of cards and you just pick one whenever you're down.
Then I was like,
But that,
Does that really work?
You know,
I mean my next thought was,
Well,
Can smiling for a full minute really change my mood from something sad to something happy?
And just for some people it can,
Right?
For some people it can't,
Okay?
Interestingly,
I started remembering something that David G said and I thought to myself,
Oh my god,
This is the perfect example of a pattern interrupt,
Right?
So making breakfast for dinner,
Okay?
It sounds like,
Okay,
You know,
Okay,
Make breakfast for dinner,
Make pancakes for dinner,
Whatever,
Right?
But basically what that does is it gets you out of your normal pattern,
Right?
And that's what the idea of a pattern interrupt actually is,
Right?
So really interesting thought process on this because that's how we shift our mood.
That's how we can shift who we are being in the world,
Like all the time.
It's all about going outside of our norm,
Right?
Going outside of,
Instead of having pasta or steak or fish for dinner,
Have breakfast.
Changing the way we do things because we're all,
And you know what,
I know so many people in the world,
We're all stuck in this pattern.
Like we all do things in the same way every day.
We get up at five o'clock or six o'clock,
We put on our clothes,
We go to work,
You know,
We do this,
We do that,
Blah blah blah.
But what if,
And sometimes that brings you down whenever that happens,
Right?
Because whenever you realize that you're in the same pattern every single day.
So what if we shifted that,
Right?
And just tried something new.
Smile for a full minute.
Oh my gosh,
I love that exercise.
I do that.
Oh my gosh,
I love doing that.
Because that's,
You know,
Smiling for a full minute,
I'm sorry,
But if that doesn't shift,
Something,
Right?
Even if it doesn't make you full-blown happy,
It starts to shift it,
Okay?
So that's what we are meditating on today.
We are gonna meditate on the shift,
Right?
So yeah,
So let's get ourselves comfortable.
And with your feet either flat on the floor or you can cross your legs,
Whatever feels good for you.
Whatever works.
Whatever works.
So close your eyes really gently.
Let's take a nice,
Really beautiful,
Very gentle deep breath in.
So let's breathe in,
Filling up your lungs,
And breathe out.
Perfect.
Right there.
Just in the idea of starting to meditate and taking that first deep breath of the day,
That is a pattern interrupt.
All of it can be.
There's so much we can do to get ourselves out of that negative space and into a positive one.
So as we sit,
Getting ready to sit in the silence for just a few minutes,
Let's continue on with our daily gratitude thoughts.
So what what are you grateful for today?
What are just a few things in your life that you are grateful for?
And honestly,
It could be the dog laying next to you or the cat.
If you're a cat person.
It could be spring or fall,
Depending on where you are in the world.
It could be the green grass growing outside.
It could be the smells in your house,
The scents in your house right now.
Just a few things that we are grateful for.
And so our mantra for the day today is an oldie but a goodie.
Sat Chit Ananda.
Sat Chit Ananda.
And what that means is truth,
Consciousness,
Bliss.
Ananda is bliss.
And when we say these words all together,
Sat Chit Ananda.
It's another way of shifting our perspective.
The place of truth coming into our consciousness creates bliss.
So if you lose the mantra,
That's absolutely okay.
If you miss it there for a few minutes,
You can always always go back to your breath.
Concentrate on that.
And let's begin.
Sat Chit Ananda.
Sat Chit Ananda.
Sat Chit Ananda.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
I will keep the time and let's begin.
Sat Chit Ananda.
Sat Chit Ananda.
Start bringing your awareness back to our bodies.
You can release the mantra and know that bliss is at your fingertips.
If we change our consciousness,
And if we just look outside ourselves,
It's there.
So let's take one more deep breath in and release it.
Perfect.
Thank you so much for joining me today,
As always.
And until next time,
Namaste.
Thanks for joining.
