Lessons Of The World
by Lauri Albert
When you open your eyes, what do you see? Do you see the world as something to get through OR are you a part of it? My dear friend, Pierre Bensusan, has permitted me to use his track called ‘Sentimentales Pyromaniaques’ from the album 'Altiplanos'.

Let's begin our day with a little bit of happy talk and meditation in this short yet impactful podcast designed to infuse a little bit of positivity into each moment of every day.
Let's get in the flow.
The terms rock music and words of wisdom really don't seem like they have too much in common.
They don't really quite go together.
But there is so many songs with incredible insight.
Rock songs.
Who would have thought,
Right?
So I wanted to just point out a couple of these songs today.
First of all,
The song Dream On by Aerosmith.
I mean,
Seriously.
These guys were incredible partiers,
Right?
Like hardcore partiers.
And the lyrics to the song Dream On,
Dream Until Your Dream Comes True.
The world is just passing us by kind of thing.
Every time I look in the mirror,
All the lines in my face are getting clearer.
I mean,
Seriously.
That's so insightful,
Right?
These guys are partiers,
Right?
And then if you think back to rock music,
Then you go to songs like Imagine by John Lennon,
Which is like my theme song.
Like instantly,
You hear that piano beat and I instantly go,
Ew,
Cry.
I mean,
Like the tears start forming,
Right?
Because that's kind of like my theme song.
I am so.
.
.
Sometimes I look at myself as being a little naive because I really just would love for the world to just look at each other and in love.
Look,
I'm getting teary eyed now.
I would just love for the world to just love each other.
You know,
Want us all to get along kind of thing,
Right?
And then there's the song just by Supertramp.
Give a little bit.
Talking about all these songs that are so insightful and they were given to the world.
And sometimes we don't even realize what these songs like the lyrics are because you can't really tell sometimes,
Right?
And then the last one I'm going to talk about is the Steve Miller Band,
Fly Like an Eagle.
Time keeps on slipping,
Slipping,
Slipping into the future.
If there's a song to sing for the rest of the day,
I think that's going to be mine because it does.
It's slipping into the future,
Right?
Fly like an eagle.
Tell them free.
Oh my God.
That gives me chills,
Right?
So here's the point.
The point is,
Even in the most unbelievable circumstances,
You can find a lesson.
There's always a lesson to be learned.
There's a lesson to be found and considered pretty much everywhere you turn.
Everywhere you turn,
There's a lesson that you can learn.
If we open our eyes and become part of the world,
Instead of just walking through it,
We see so much more.
We see so,
So much more.
Even in the bad stuff that happens,
There's a lesson in there.
There's so many terrible things that happen in the news and it's terrible,
But there's a lesson for us all.
So here's my thought for the day.
Look around you.
Look around at the people and the things in your life.
There are lessons in all of it for us.
I was doing my live last night on Inside Timer.
I don't think she's here,
But this one girl that was on there started talking about,
She was outside and she saw all of these black crows everywhere.
There was hundreds of them,
She said.
And so we were looking at the spiritual meaning of that,
Which is actually transformation and it's actually courage and change,
Which is a positive thing.
But she was a little terrified.
Why would you see all these black crows?
But here's the point.
The point is that how many people saw all those crows and were like,
Oh,
Birds.
It's amazing to me.
And we all do it.
I'm not saying that one person sees stuff and another one doesn't.
It's not like that.
We all do that.
We all get caught up in that tunnel vision in our minds and we're busy and all of that.
But can you imagine if we would just open up our hearts to the world,
What we can see?
We can learn so much,
We learn so much from other people.
Opening our eyes and seeing the world and all the messages that are there for us,
That are there for the taking.
That's a gift.
So our mantra for today,
You guys are going to love it,
Right?
Well,
You'll see in a minute.
Okay,
Let's get comfortable because we're going to meditate.
Close your eyes whenever it feels right for you.
Let's take a nice deep breath in.
Slow,
Gentle,
Deep breath in through your nose and release.
Perfect.
Perfect.
Today is a day to feel relaxed.
Even if we're busy.
I know that sounds counter productive there or something,
But just feeling that relaxing energy today.
I feel that the energy today is just smooth.
So let's consider what we're grateful for today.
Let's consider we're grateful for our health.
We're grateful for chicken soup.
We are grateful for music that shows us lessons.
We're grateful for the birds outside.
What are you grateful for today?
So our mantra that we're going to sit in the stillness with just a few minutes is this.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
How incredible.
What are those lessons?
Lessons of love,
Lessons of tolerance,
Lessons of patience,
Lessons of transformation.
Whatever that looks like,
Being open to it,
Whatever that looks like.
So as we get to sit in the stillness with our beautiful mantra for the day,
If you lose or you forget,
That's absolutely okay.
As David G likes to say,
You're going to do one of three things when you meditate.
You're going to fall asleep.
You're going to get in the zone and find that stillness or you're going to have thoughts.
Any of those things is correct.
Obviously the goal is to find the stillness.
If you have thoughts,
Just gently shift them away.
Always you can always just come back to your breath.
Feel the breath.
So I will keep the time and let's begin.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Today I open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Let's start to bring our awareness back to our bodies.
Let's take a deep breath in and release.
Beautiful.
Let me open my eyes to all the lessons of the world.
Perfect.
Namaste.
