Let's begin our day with a little bit of happy talk and meditation in this short yet impactful podcast designed to infuse a little bit of positivity into each moment of every day.
Let's get in the flow.
So with the energy the way that it is right now and how erratic it feels,
I don't know if you guys are feeling this sort of erratic energy,
I wanted to talk today about our expectations of spirit and our spiritual experience.
Okay,
I hope that makes sense.
So I've always been a massive fan of Ram Dass and just because it's about love,
Right?
So there's a quote that I had never seen before and I want to share this with you guys.
This is Ram Dass's quote,
See the spiritual practice as one of relinquishing definitions of oneself in order to come into the present.
Okay,
I'm going to read that part again.
There's more to it,
But I want to read that part again.
See the spiritual practice as one of relinquishing definitions of oneself in order to come into the present.
And then he goes on,
See the spiritual journey as one of coming into the space of love.
Look at people you don't love and see them as an exercise for you to open your heart.
I mean,
Honestly,
To me,
I mean,
First of all,
Okay,
I'm getting a little off track,
But the idea of,
It's not even idea,
It's just the theory,
The way of being of just love.
I mean,
That's what Ram Dass was is,
You know,
Oh my gosh,
Absolutely amazing.
So from what I've learned from Ram Dass over the years,
Because I've followed him for a long time,
Right?
It always comes back to love and keeping an open heart.
That's like the main thing,
Keeping an open heart,
Right?
One aspect specifically to this is that I've learned,
You're going to love this,
To open my heart to those people that I really just don't care for,
For whatever reason,
Whether it's energetically or whether it's just,
You know,
Whatever,
Right?
Right?
Or that I feel like don't like me,
You know?
I mean,
Okay,
So I can be sensitive.
We all can be sensitive,
Right?
We all have those little bones in our body,
Right?
I mean,
I sometimes feel like,
Oh,
That person does not like me or,
You know,
I mean,
There are people in all of our lives and you kind of just go,
Whoa,
That person is not like part of my tribe,
You know?
You know what I'm saying?
You've all heard that term lead with love.
I love that.
Lead with love.
It can be hard sometimes though,
Especially when it's regarding to somebody that you're just not sure about,
Right?
But the thought is the same.
Lead with love.
What is cool about this is that as I began to practice this,
I found myself really understanding a real definition of like true compassion.
So to be honest,
There are people that rub me the wrong way.
That's just it,
Right?
We all have someone in our lives that rubs us the wrong way.
We all do.
I mean,
Come on,
We have to be honest,
Right?
But check this out.
Since I began listening to Ram Dass and really understanding love in a new,
Deeper way,
There are two things that I've learned,
Okay?
One thing is that I've learned to understand that we are all here having our own experiences.
We are all different.
We think different,
We look different,
We act different,
But we all,
And this is just my opinion,
We all come from the same place,
Right?
Wow.
We all come from the same place,
Right?
And then number two is honestly,
I don't like gossip anymore.
I mean,
I don't have any reason to talk about other people.
Now,
Okay,
I'm not perfect.
I get it,
Right?
I'm not perfect.
Yes,
That comes to happen sometimes,
Right?
I'll talk about other people,
But I mean,
We all do,
Let's be honest,
Right?
But it's like,
The whole gossipy thing is like a whole different level to me now because of the,
What I just said a minute ago,
The true compassion that I've learned.
Because when you,
Like somebody's pissing you off and you're just like,
Oh my God,
Like that person is like really ridiculous,
Blah,
Blah,
Blah,
Right?
And we all do that.
But then when you look at that and you say,
Oh,
You know what?
If I look at that from a place of compassion,
If I look at that person,
Even though they're irritating the crap out of me,
You know,
From a place of true compassion,
I get that we are all love,
Right?
If we all see each other in terms of that,
We realize that there's no malice or trying to bring each other down.
I hope that makes sense because it's so interesting because it's love and compassion.
And we hear those words like all the time,
But do we really consider what that's about?
You know?
Love that.
Okay.
So that's what we're meditating on today.
This beautiful mantra that kind of came to me this morning.
So I'm excited to share it with you guys.
Okay.
So let's close our eyes,
Get yourself comfortable,
Whether it's sitting a certain way or whatever.
You can lay down.
You can sit up,
Just be comfortable.
Close your eyes when it feels right to you.
Let's take a beautiful deep breath in.
So breathe in through your nose and release.
Perfect way to start the day,
Right?
With a big,
Beautiful,
Deep breath in filled with love.
Let's do that again.
Let's take a nice,
Really gentle,
Slow,
Deep breath in and release.
Perfect.
So as we contemplate love and compassion today,
Our mantra that we will focus on today is this.
My heart is open to giving and receiving pure,
Unconditional love.
My heart is open to giving and receiving pure,
Unconditional love.
And as we repeat this mantra,
As we sit in the stillness for a few minutes,
We can put our hands over our hearts.
If you feel like you want to,
Just to feel it beating.
Feel your heart beating.
With every beat,
We understand that we are in a human body.
We are a spiritual being having a human experience.
As we feel our heart beating,
We know that we can open our hearts and our minds to love and compassion in a new way.
So I will repeat the mantra and let's begin.
My heart is open to giving and receiving pure,
Unconditional love.
My heart is open to giving and receiving pure,
Unconditional love.
My heart is open to giving and receiving pure,
Unconditional love.
And now as we sit in the stillness,
Let's feel our heart opening.
We can open our hearts and our minds to love and compassion in a new way.
