This guided sleep meditation is an invitation to gently let go of the day and ease your body into rest.
Begin by settling into a comfortable position,
Lying down,
Allowing your body to fully be supported.
Take a moment to adjust so you can be here without needing to move.
Notice the support that is making contact with your body,
Whether that be a soft mattress,
Pillow,
Or blanket.
Allow yourself to ease into this support beneath you.
It's holding you.
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze and begin to notice your breath.
No need to change it,
Just letting it come and go naturally.
With each exhale,
Allow yourself to arrive a little more,
Letting the day begin to fade into the background.
There's nowhere else you need to be.
There's nothing else you need to do.
You can let everything soften now.
We'll begin by bringing awareness to the body,
Slowly moving through,
Inviting each area to release.
Starting with your feet,
Noticing your toes,
The soles of your feet,
Your heels.
Gently inviting them to soften.
Let any tension melt away,
As if your feet could grow heavy,
Sinking down into the surface beneath you.
Now,
Bring your awareness to your ankles and your lower legs,
Softening through your calves,
Allowing them to release.
Let your legs feel heavy,
Supported,
And at ease.
Moving up to your knees and into your thighs,
The muscles here often hold more than we realize.
See if you can let them soften just a bit more.
Let your entire lower body feel heavy,
Grounded.
Now,
Bring your attention to your hips,
Your pelvis,
Allowing this area to soften,
To release.
Letting go of any holding,
Let your belly soften.
No holding,
No pulling in,
Just allowing it to rise and fall naturally with your breath.
Softening through your lower back,
Letting the muscles along your spine release,
One by one.
Feel the support beneath you,
Holding you up,
So you don't have to hold yourself.
Now,
Bring your awareness to your chest,
Softening here at your precious heart center.
Allowing your breath to move easily,
Nothing forced or controlled.
Let your shoulders drop,
Releasing any weight you've been carrying.
Bring your awareness down your arms,
Through your upper arms,
Your elbows,
Your forearms,
And into your hands.
Let your hands soften,
Your fingers gently curling,
Completely at ease.
Now,
Bring your attention to your neck,
Softening the muscles here,
Releasing any tightness.
And then your face,
Your jaw,
Separate your teeth,
Your lips soft,
Your tongue resting completely,
Your cheeks relaxed,
Softening around your eyes,
Your eyelids are heavy,
Your forehead is smooth.
Let your entire face soften,
As if everything is gently melting.
Now,
Feel your whole body resting,
Supported,
At ease.
There's nothing left to do,
Nowhere left to go.
If thoughts come in,
That's okay.
You don't need to follow them.
Just let them pass,
Like clouds moving through the sky.
Gently return to the feeling of your body,
Your breath happening naturally.
With each exhale,
Allow yourself to drift a little deeper,
A little softer.
You can let go now.
You can rest.
And if sleep comes,
Let it come naturally,
Without effort.
Feel yourself drifting,
Nothing to hold,
Nothing to figure out.
There is nothing you have to do.
Just rest.
Sleep well.
