Mommy meditation.
Before we begin this meditation it's important to understand that meditation doesn't have to mean clearing the mind while sitting still in absolute silence.
While that may seem ideal as a mom that may not be totally possible.
There are so many forms of meditation which go far beyond what we all tend to think it should look like.
It's really about finding the most convenient method for you and your lifestyle and practicing it as often as possible.
Practicing yoga can be a meditation.
Going for a mindful walk can be another way to practice.
Doing a daily chore or simply just checking in with your breath.
There's the option of reciting a mantra or affirmation in your meditation practice to help focus your mind or trying a visualization practice to help escape for a bit.
Most importantly you want to practice being here and now in this very moment.
That is the true essence of your meditation practice.
Even if you have to be in the moment with your child or children present,
Do that.
Perhaps it can be while you're playing together,
Maybe reading a story or taking a walk.
Maybe it's in the moments you're actually calming them down from crying or ideally when they are drifting off to sleep.
We as moms have to drop any expectations of what meditation should look like for us.
This is a busy time for all of us and even taking some mindful breaths during our day is just as beneficial as a traditional meditation practice.
For this particular guided meditation I'll ask you to become comfortable wherever you are even if you may be listening to this on the go.
Remember that even if you are doing things around the house or if you're on a walk while listening etc you can do those things in a relaxed meditative way.
So just bring some focus and attention to your breath.
Scan your body and just notice where you're holding tension and just try to release any areas that you're holding on to.
Try to let them go and as we relax here just continue to breathe in through the nose,
Out through the nose.
Devote the next few moments to yourself.
Your meditation time is a reminder of how important it is for you to take time to recharge and replenish.
Your job is all about giving so you must replenish yourself so that you can continue to give without compromising your own health.
You're doing the most important job in the world.
You're raising a kind child which takes time,
Effort,
Love,
Thoughtfulness,
Compassion and much more.
But time has the word me in it.
This is your time right now.
Well-deserved me time to relax and get grounded.
Breathing in through the nose,
Out through the nose.
Check in with yourself right now.
What do you need?
Have you nourished yourself today with wholesome foods and plenty of water?
Breathing in through the nose,
Out through the nose.
Try to embrace going with the flow.
All that parenting has to offer.
It's a wild ride that constantly changes as you know.
Embrace the spontaneity,
The messiness,
The crying,
The laughter,
The moments of pure joy,
Pure love and even the moments of pure frustration.
Remember that hormones are very powerful.
Try not to be so quick to judge yourself for your actions or moods.
Drop the pressure to do it all.
There is no such thing as a supermom.
Deepen your breath once again and feel these words permeate your entire being.
I do enough.
I have enough.
I am enough.
I do enough.
I have enough.
I do enough.
I have enough.
I am enough.
Use this affirmation whenever you need encouragement for all of the endless work you do.
Your children are only small for some time.
Slow down and enjoy.
Use your breath as a reminder to be here now in this very moment.
To drink in and savor the sweet moments of being a mom.
Thank yourself for taking this time to replenish your reserves and to nourish your mind,
Body and soul.
Enjoy this relaxed state and know that you have the opportunity to drop back into it or the choice to stay within it for the rest of your day.
Taking a deep breath in and exhaling completely,
Bring your attention to your heart center and bow to the light,
Knowledge and innate wisdom that shines brightly within you.
Namaste.
