Welcome.
This is a practice designed to help us create a little bit more space.
Space in our minds,
In our bodies,
In our hearts,
And in our nervous systems.
When life feels full,
Or when we're carrying the weight of a challenge or stressor,
We often just need a little room to breathe.
Over the next few minutes,
There's no need to change or fix anything.
You're welcome exactly as you are.
If you're anxious,
Let yourself feel anxious.
If you're tired,
Let yourself feel tired.
If you're calm,
Let yourself feel calm.
Whatever you're experiencing,
See if you can allow it.
And as we begin.
Take a moment to settle in.
Feel the solid ground beneath you.
Become aware of the breath.
Notice the points of contact between your body and the ground.
Noticing the feet the heels.
The seat.
The hands.
The wrists.
And even the tips of the shoulders.
And using your creative imagination.
Begin to visualize in front of you,
Or off to the side,
A container.
And this container could be a shelf.
It could be a chest.
A bag or a box or anything else you'll know the right container that comes forward for you.
And as you see this container,
Notice its shape,
Color,
And texture.
And You might begin to peek inside of the container.
See the material that it's made of.
And imagine that there's plenty of space inside this container.
It can hold anything.
As you notice your breath.
Begin to place anything into the container that is causing stress or concern.
You can place anything into the container that's been causing upset or heaviness,
Worry,
Or that's been pulling at your attention in any way,
But that can't be resolved right here,
Right now,
In this moment.
And as you place.
Things into the container one by one or maybe all at once.
You might affirm inwardly or aloud.
Besides these things in the container,
I am at ease.
Besides these things in the container,
I am at ease.
See anything else going into the container.
Again,
This could be a person,
A situation,
A feeling,
A task.
Anything at all.
That's causing stress or concern or upset,
But that can't be solved or resolved in this moment.
And this is not to avoid these things but rather to see if we may create a bit of space so that we may be able to be with them differently.
As you're ready,
You can seal up the container.
Or close it.
However that works for you.
Now see if you might be able to create some space between yourself and the container.
And maybe the container stays there,
Or maybe it dissolves,
Or maybe it ships off across the state line,
Or goes somewhere else.
You see what's right for you.
And just notice within yourself.
How do you know that it's in the right place?
What inside tells you that.
As you're ready.
Come back to feeling the feet on the ground.
And become aware of the seat,
The hands,
And once again,
The breath.
You can rub together your first two fingers and your thumbs.
And as you're ready.
Feel free to flutter the eyes open.
Maybe allowing your eyes to trace around the space that you're in.
Letting them land on something that's pleasant or neutral to look at.
And from here.
As we complete.
Take a moment to thank yourself for engaging in this practice.
Remember,
It's the small things we do every day that make a big difference over time.
So be it.
