Transcript

Welcome to this brief mindfulness exercise focused on eating.

Sit comfortably at your table with a small piece of food in front of you.

Let's bring our full attention to the experience of eating.

Begin with a deep breath in and exhale slowly.

Take up your piece of food and observe it.

Notice its color and texture.

Feel the weight in your hand.

Place it in your mouth without chewing.

Take a moment to feel the sensations in your tongue.

As you start to chew,

Do so slowly and with full awareness.

Focus on the texture,

Taste,

Flavors that emerge.

If your mind wanders,

Gently return your focus to the act of chewing.

When you're ready to swallow,

Notice the process as the food travels down your throat.

Take another deep breath and exhale.

Appreciate the nourishment the food provides.

Gently open your eyes and return to your surroundings,

Carrying this sense of mindfulness with you throughout your day.
