Welcome my friend,
My name is Chris and today I'll guide you through a Sufi-inspired breathwork journey,
A practice focused on the heart,
Rhythmic breath,
And returning to presence.
This flow is inspired by Sufi principles,
Heart-centered breathing,
Gentle repetition,
And using breath as a pathway back into the quiet center of yourself.
This isn't a historical or lineage-based Sufi technique,
But a modern sequence infused with themes found throughout Sufi meditation,
Themes of opening,
Devotion,
And clarity.
First,
Take a slow inhale through the nose and exhale softly through the mouth.
Let your shoulders melt downward,
Let the heart soften,
And let this practice be a remembering of the presence that's always been here.
Now let's begin.
For our first round,
We'll begin with a Sufi heart breath.
Inhale through the nose for four,
Exhale through the mouth for four.
A steady rhythm,
As if the breath is moving in and out of your heart.
Let's begin.
Here we go,
In,
Out.
Whatever has weighed on the heart today,
And hold your breath.
We'll take a recovery breath in three,
Two,
One.
Let it all out.
Nice.
For the next round,
We shift into a Sufi spiral breath.
The rhythm stays the same,
But now the path of the breath changes.
As you inhale through the nose for two,
Imagine the breath traveling upward along the spine,
From the base of the body to the crown.
As you exhale through the mouth for two,
Feel the breath pour down the front of the body,
Returning to the heart and belly.
So up the back,
Down the front.
Let's try it out.
We're going to hold at the bottom of the breath,
Blowing out all our air,
And holding on empty.
But first,
Take a big breath in,
Filling all the way up.
Let it all out now,
Blowing out every last drop of air till you're completely empty.
Then hold.
We'll take a recovery breath in three,
Two,
One.
Big breath in.
Let it all go.
Nice job.
And for our final round,
We'll move into Sufi humming breath,
Inhaling through the nose for four,
And humming softly as you exhale through the nose for eight.
Let the sound be gentle,
A vibration that warms the heart and quiets the mind.
Here we go.
In through the nose.
Now,
It's time for our next breath.
Hold now.
Take a big breath in.
Let's return to its natural flow now.
Soft,
Unstructured,
Effortless,
Just presence,
Allowing everything you opened to settle gently inside you.
Feel how the heart has opened,
How the mind has softened,
How spacious your inner world has become.
Rest in the simplicity of being here.
As you step back into your day,
May your breath stay steady,
Your heart stay open,
And your presence remain grounded and clear.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
Until next time,
Take care,
My friend.
