Welcome.

Before we begin our meditation together,

I want to tell you that it makes my heart smile,

That you have taken this time for yourself,

Taken this time to build your sanctuary.

The meaning of the word sanctuary is a place of safety.

That is what you will be building.

It is a place you can go in your mind at any time.

It is a state of being.

It is full of peace,

Serenity,

And knowing.

Close your eyes.

You are here to create.

Whether you think of yourself as a creator or not,

Something whispered to you that you need a sanctuary.

Here you are,

Trusting your intuition and giving yourself a gift.

You are the only person in the world qualified to create this space of comfort.

Believe that you will create exactly what you need with no one's design,

But your own.

Say it out loud.

I trust myself to build my sanctuary.

Say it again.

I trust myself to build my sanctuary.

Now,

Take the moments you need to settle into your space.

Feel your body begin to shed the undue stress with each breath,

Letting go of whatever it is you need to let go of to fully relax.

Sink into the chair or the couch or wherever it is you're sitting,

And feel it holding you,

Supporting your body.

Take a deep cleansing breath in and exhale when you're ready.

It's okay if it makes a sound as it leaves your body.

Let's do that again.

Breathe in,

And as you let it go,

Also let go of the last worry that you are holding on to.

Continue to take slow and easy breaths as you connect deeper with yourself,

Living in this moment and washing yourself with peace.

Think about a spot that brings you comfort,

A place where you can be you,

With no ties of having to take care of others,

Please others,

Or do anything.

A place where you can just be.

Maybe it is a beach with the rhythm of the waves in your ears and the sensation of sand between your toes.

Maybe it is deep in the forest with the smell of pine and air,

Where you look up at the massive trees and feel the wisdom of age.

Or maybe your sanctuary is ethereal,

A place beyond this world that you will sculpt into your safe sanctuary.

Are there walls around you?

If so,

What are they made of?

Are they made of wood?

Or maybe there is water cascading down the wall like a waterfall,

Or millions of flowers strung together with all of your favorite colors.

Maybe your favorite pieces of art are adorning the walls.

Let's keep building your sanctuary.

What do you see when you look around?

Maybe there is a special object from your childhood,

Or a roaring fire in a fireplace,

Or a pool of water close by in case you want to get your body wet.

Decorate it just for you.

This is your sacred space.

What do you see when you look up?

Is there a ceiling?

A crystal blue sky?

Or is it nighttime,

And billions of stars light your sanctuary with their brilliance?

What noises do you want to hear in your sanctuary?

Think about what will give you the greatest connection to yourself.

Take a moment and listen from a deep place inside of you.

Listen to your breath and allow it to guide you.

What is the temperature in your sanctuary?

Is there a breeze?

Allow yourself to be fully present in this moment.

Take this time and feel the space you have created around you.

What else would you like to have here to remind you that you are a precious being in this world?

Feel your body.

Allow the calmness to wash over you like the draping of silk.

You are safe,

Worthy,

And loved beyond measure.

I'm going to give you a few moments to breathe it in and claim this sanctuary as your own.

I'll be back.

Take another look around.

This is your sanctuary.

You can come here in a moment's notice,

Whenever you choose,

And you can stay for as long as you'd like.

It will always be here for you.

Come,

Beautiful.

Come often and feel the peace.

This is your authentic you.

Now,

We need to seal this space so it remains safe and protected,

Because it is time for you to go back into the world.

You can bring this feeling of safety and knowing with you.

Let's take a deep breath together and exhale when you're ready.

Gradually open your eyes and return to your present space.

Take another deep breath in.

Look around and ground yourself right where you are,

Knowing your sanctuary is just a breath away.

Be kind to yourself and to others today.

The ripple effect will be amazing.
