We sometimes need a reminder to be in the present moment. This short meditation is your ‘now’ boost, allowing peace and acceptance and a respite from the busy world around us. This meditation is based on a poem I wrote years ago that continues to be a go-to for me. "Be where your hands are; let the world not take notice; for once you are without the noise; let the tenderness of what you know; float to the surface. You can do anything. Now go. It paralyzes me and gives me purpose."

Welcome.

You have given yourself a beautiful gift by showing up for yourself today.

Regardless of what brought you here,

You are here and that is what counts.

You are here to let go,

To breathe,

To allow your body to relax for a brief time and to center yourself inside.

You are here to remind yourself that this is the moment you are living,

Not yesterday's happenings or tomorrow's hopes.

You are living right here,

Right now.

Place your hands in front of you and look at them.

Notice the lines of time.

Look at your palms and see both the straight and the crooked lines.

Appreciate them.

Let your hands put you in the present moment.

Feel the energy and the blood running through them.

You can only be where your hands are.

Allow looking at your hands to bring you to the present moment.

Feel the stillness.

Be where your hands are.

Close your eyes.

Let go of the outside world,

The worries,

The stresses and arrive here.

There is nothing you need to do.

No one you need to care for right now.

This is your gift to yourself,

To be in the stillness of now.

Bettle in your chair,

Plant your body right where you are and invite yourself to be comfortable in your space.

If your mind begins to wander,

Think of your hands,

Feel the life in them and allow them to bring you back to now.

Realizing your present moment will give the signal to your mind to be freer,

More open to the peace that is being offered to you.

Let go of the world that you cannot control and know that what you can control is the depth and the sound of your breath.

We so often hold our breath when we aren't aware we are even doing it.

We are going to practice taking some significant breaths together.

Be where your hands are.

Breathe in.

As you let go of the breath,

Release any weight you feel.

Picture all of your worries flowing out of your body and into the world.

As the worries float,

Picture them being picked up by the wind and blown far away so that you can be still.

Be where your hands are.

Right here,

This very moment is all we have.

Breathe in a cleansing breath,

Fill your lungs with the air and feel the gift of life.

And exhale when you're ready.

Your job today is to continue to breathe and be where your hands are.

Be where your hands are.

Feel the stillness,

The peace.

Know that you have the power to always be in the present moment.

I want you to gently open your eyes and arrive back in your space with the stillness still present in your mind.

If you need a reminder to live in the present today,

All you need to do is to look down at your hands.

Thank you for joining me.
