Hey there!
I'm so glad you're here.
I am Kanae Corder,
The leading National Certified Counselor specializing in financial therapy for sleep and stress.
And one of the things I've been focusing on lately is my four S's of self-care.
And if you've watched the other videos,
Great.
If you haven't,
Go and watch them.
This one is on soothing.
Now the four S's of self-care are silence,
Sound,
Stretching,
Soothing.
You can do them in any order,
But I often recommend you do silence first.
Now the soothing you can do at any time because sometimes you just need to soothe yourself.
However,
It really works really well as part of your night routine.
I do a separate video on morning and night routine,
But for now let's focus on your soothing.
Now breathing is part of soothing.
You're going to need to get into your breath,
Really deep cleansing breaths.
However,
You're not going to focus on that because soothing is about getting your body really,
Really calm,
Peaceful,
And relaxed.
If there's an area of your body that recalls,
That calls out to you,
Similar to what we did in stretching,
Try it this way.
Try and listen to your body.
I'm going to turn up a little rain sound if you like,
If you're okay with that.
Just a little because sometimes this rain is soothing for me.
How about you?
Just listen to the rain,
But also listen to your body.
Now one of the places where I often have to soothe myself is my neck.
This is different from stretching,
Like you're stretching your joints,
You're stretching even your muscles and getting that stress out of them,
But in the soothing,
You're really putting some pressure there.
You can do this with your hands or you can do this with the massager.
I'll show you a massager for the last minute,
But let's start with just using your hands.
I'm going to use my neck as the example.
You choose a spot on your body.
Now I'm going to start high up at the top,
The base,
And I'm just gonna do this with my fingers.
Just loosen it up.
Nothing professional.
You don't always have to go get a massage,
But I recommend it.
Maybe you can get it once a week,
Once a month,
Maybe once a quarter,
Whatever your budget calls for.
And if you're a massage therapist,
You absolutely get your massages,
Okay?
Yes,
Taking in everybody else's stuff,
Release it.
Now I'm gonna go down from my neck to my shoulders because my shoulders,
And yeah,
They really call for that soothing.
Sometimes you just gotta focus on yourself.
When was the last time you just really soothed yourself?
Yeah,
Just warm your body,
Let your hands,
Get that energy from your hands inside your body.
But you know,
And I said this in my longer video,
But it's so true,
My 100% number one place to soothe myself,
My head,
My crown.
Just,
Oh my goodness,
Oh my gosh,
It is like the best.
Just breathe.
Don't forget to breathe.
This is my favorite,
And when my hair is down,
It's even better.
But now I'm going to show you something.
I can't stop myself,
Okay?
But the other thing you might want to do,
It's just your temples.
Just bring it down to your jaws,
Especially if you're the type of person that clenches.
Have you,
You have things to say,
But you're not saying them?
You're probably holding them in,
Yeah.
Now outside of this video,
I'm also going to do a video telling you about some of the places where you hold your emotions in your body.
This is one common place.
This is another common place.
The ones that I talked about on myself,
My neck,
My shoulders,
The weight of the world.
Yeah,
Lots of thoughts,
Lots of heavy thinking.
Yeah,
Your heart even,
You hold things there,
You're good.
Maybe you've been swallowing,
Swallowing your breath,
Swallowing your words,
And they get stuck here.
Maybe they're stuck here,
Laryngitis,
Always clearing your throat.
Yeah,
There's so much that I like to say,
But all my life,
I've been taught by many women in my family,
Just don't upset anyone.
Be nice,
Play nice,
Right?
So it is really work for me to get those words out.
Now a lot of people think I speak my mind,
And I do most of the time,
But a lot of times,
That's just 80-60% of the time.
So if you're like me,
Where you're known for speaking your mind,
Yet who knows how much you didn't say.
Even though you said all the things they thought you wanted to say,
You knew that there were things you held back.
This is the time when you get them out.
Soothing sometimes means,
Ah,
Ah,
Hmm,
That might soothe you too.
So it's not necessarily just about pushing on your body,
It may be pushing out what you've been holding in your body.
Hmm,
I really felt that,
Did you?
So do what you need to do.
It's all about you.
Connect with your body,
How you want to be soothed.
But one last thing before we go,
I sometimes use a Theragun.
I love Theragun.
I just want to show you what it's like.
You can do this,
Or you can choose another massager.
It doesn't have to be a Theragun,
There's so many out there.
This is just my fave.
And one of,
I talked about my neck.
There's a spot in my lower back,
I'll show you here,
That I love to massage before I go to bed.
This is something I do before I go to bed.
Well,
Let me show you what else I do.
You would never have guessed.
Yeah,
Who would have thought to just massage their head?
It is so soothing.
I tell you,
If you've not tried it,
Try it.
Alright,
I'm gonna turn this video off,
And I'm gonna go soothe.
It's time for my midday meditation anyway.
Oh my gosh,
That was so cool.
Alright,
I got time,
I got time.
I'm gonna go finish my soothing.
You go,
Finish yours.
You can do this five minutes,
15 minutes,
To a whole hour if you like.
It's totally up to you.
It's based on your needs.
Remember,
Care for yourself.
Yourself.
Before you take care of all those others.
Alright,
That's all for now.
I'll see you sooner.
Love you much,
Lee.
