Hi,
Kiki here.
My lesson today is the I am lesson.
And I'm sure many of you have heard of this because you're doing affirmations and you've heard other people talk about it.
And the reality is the importance of the affirmations and is using the sentence stem I am.
And placing something very positive after that and never saying anything negative after that because this is a declaration of who you are and what you are.
And I actually am thinking back.
Into perhaps the 80s or maybe the 90s when Jesse Jackson,
Reverend Jesse Jackson,
Would say I am and that was part of his response and chant.
I am somebody.
I am and whatever positive things he would say to counteract negative things and really help our self-esteem.
So that was the first time I remember consciously having heard of I am and he never said it was an affirmation.
He just put it into practice as one of his practices.
So I actually say,
My IMs and of course I write my IMs in one of my many journals.
Or if I don't have a journal handy,
I'll just write it on a scrap of paper or a napkin,
But I also say it.
I also practice it in the mirror so you can combine it with mirror work.
And talk about yourself.
I am smart.
I am beautiful.
I am intelligent.
I am funny.
I am resourceful.
I am a good family member.
I'm a great mother.
You get it.
So today's challenge is to write out at least 10 positive I am messages and say them.
As they say.
As you think.
So you believe.
Thank you.
