Greetings.
Today,
I'm here to talk about joy as a practice.
And when I was thinking about joy and how I incorporate it into my practices,
I was thinking about the influences of things on my psyche that I have heard in songs about joy.
And the two songs that I was thinking about were Frankie Beverly and May's Joy and Pain,
Sunshine and Rain,
And the gospel song,
Joy Comes in the Morning.
And I realized that those things informed my notions of what joy was.
That one,
You couldn't have joy without having pain,
Just like you can't have sunshine without having the rain.
Joy was something that wasn't in the present,
That that was something that would come another day.
So I realized that if I wanted to incorporate joy in my life,
That I'd have to have that reflected in my faith and in my practices.
Not that I was expecting to be joyful 24-7,
But that I would be open to receiving joy and I expected to have joy in my life.
So as a practice,
I think about every day being a joyful day.
And in my practice,
I give gratitude for having a joyful day.
I also write in my journals about being joyful and the joyful things that have happened.
I also do affirmations about joy,
Kind of like,
Not kind of,
Exactly like.
I approach all of my spiritual practices,
But just an intentionality of joy.
Thanks for listening and more joy to you.
As a practice.
