Hello friends,
Welcome back.
It's Casey and we're gonna continue talking about the four pillars of health.
So we already talked about sleep.
The next thing we're going to talk about is nutrition.
Your food.
Quality of food.
Remember,
Calories in does not necessarily mean calories out.
The quality of our food is very important and I want you to be thinking about protein and I want you to be thinking about how much protein you need for your body.
If we are filling up on carbs and really dense food with lots of calories,
So calorie dense,
Necessarily does not equate nutrient dense.
Most of our nutritional foods are very low in calories.
So,
Some tips to help you with nutrition.
Let us cut out all of the sugary drinks.
Anything that has extra sugar that does not need to be in there.
Yes,
I'm looking at you,
Coffee drinks.
We drink a ton of our calories and that is one way where we can absolutely help our nutrition.
So drinking less sugary drinks,
Opt for water or even club soda or carbonated waters if you really need to have that kind of like carbonation.
I know I crave it and I'm a huge fan of soda water.
So when I go out,
I drink soda water or club soda and lime.
I don't drink alcohol.
I've been alcohol free for over 10 years.
So that's another thing you can do is cut out the alcohol,
Cut out the sugary drinks.
Another thing to consider in nutrition is to take out the fried foods and anything processed.
So think anything that comes in a box.
If it did not come from the earth,
If you did not pick it,
Or grow it,
Or get it from the grocery store,
Straight out of you know,
Like what it was grown in,
Then it's processed.
So stay away from the chips and the crackers and all of the processed snacks that are out there.
They are not good for you.
They are calorie dense,
Meaning there's not a whole lot of nutrition.
So if you're eating 2,
000 calories every single day,
You want to make sure that those foods are nutrient dense and not just calorie rich.
Taking out sugary drinks.
Those coffee drinks that have lots of sugar in them,
As well as alcohol.
Stay away from fried foods and packaged foods.
Those are some simple ways to cut down and to better your health.
All right,
And then of course be thinking about protein.
Thinking about the nutrients that our bodies need to thrive.
All right,
Those are just a couple of my easy suggestions.
Be sure to come back and we will be talking about stress management next.
See you soon,
Friends.
