May this meditation find you at a time where you need to remember yourself,
Re-commit,
Reconnect.
A time where you are ready to root deep into the soil of your truth and of your heart so that you may branch outwards,
Reach upwards,
Spread far and wide.
So find yourself somewhere to settle.
Perhaps you choose to nestle yourself onto a cushion,
A mat,
A bolster,
A towel.
Perhaps you choose to lay down.
Whatever surface area you choose to position yourself upon,
Let it be the fertile soil for your roots to grow into,
For your anchoring and your remembering.
Once you find yourself in this comfortable position,
Take a deep,
Luxurious breath and then take one more.
Attune yourself to the rhythm of your breath,
The way it naturally flows in and out.
Become witness to its regular rhythm,
This natural occurrence.
Allow it to guide your thoughts into just the role of witness.
Release any judgments,
Any worries about what it should be doing.
Just honor what is.
From this place of witnessing,
Can you begin to shape the breath.
On an inhale,
Can you pull the breath from the clouds above you,
Spiraling down,
Down,
Down your spine and out through your toes.
In your exhale,
Allow the breath to traverse from the tips of your toes,
Up through you and out the crown of your head.
Inhale pulls down,
Spiraling along your vertebrae and out through your toes.
And exhale spirals back up,
This double helix of breath,
Of life force,
Of vitality.
Continue with this breath at your own pace,
Your own rhythm.
On your next inhale,
Picture your breath spiraling down through your toes and into the earth beneath you,
Deep,
Deep,
Deep into the earth,
Tunneling through the fertile soil of the mother,
Spiraling through the bedrock and the sediment.
Deeper still,
These are your roots.
With each inhale,
Allow them to spiral deeper,
To spiral further,
To tunnel through this earth.
Consider the pillars that root you,
The things that act as the foundation for your life.
Perhaps it's family or friends,
Perhaps it's your daily practices,
Your rituals,
Perhaps it's your career,
Your passions,
Your artistry,
Perhaps what brings you joy.
Acknowledge your foundation and breathe life into it as it becomes your roots.
Allow it to track its way into the earth.
What fulfills you?
What holds you?
What steadies you?
What strengthens you?
Breathe life into the answers and allow that breath to flow through you,
Spiraling,
Spiraling,
Spiraling,
For when you are rooted,
You may rise.
It is your roots that hold you and they may grow far and wide,
Short and long,
Deep,
Narrow,
Shallow,
Thick.
They may retreat or choose a different path than anticipated,
But they are your roots.
They are your anchor.
They are what holds you so that you may rise,
So that your branches may lift.
Following your breath now,
Attune into its rhythm and allow it to track back up,
Up,
Up through the sediment,
Through the rock,
Through the soil,
The worms,
The grasses,
Back into your body now.
Allow your breath to traverse the plane of your spine,
Traveling further up through your crown and from this place,
This center space between the eyebrows,
The top of the skull,
And you allow your breath to send your branches far and wide,
Call to yourself now your desires,
Your dreams,
Your hopes,
Your passions,
All that you wish for yourself and for the world around you.
Let that travel,
Inhaling down,
Exhaling up,
Inhaling down,
Exhaling up,
Inhaling down,
And exhaling up,
Root down to rise up.
Bring your awareness to your heart,
The center of the center,
The home of the seed from which the roots and the branches both arise.
Take a moment now to honor this space,
Fill it with your breath and on your own time,
When you're ready,
You can wiggle your toes,
Your fingers.
If your eyes have closed,
You can gently begin to open them,
The lightest of flutters,
Return to your day knowing that you are fully anchored into yourself.
Have a beautiful day.
