And I'm happy to guide you on this walking meditation.
Before you get started,
I recommend having one earbud listening to the meditation and one earbud out to be able to hear your surroundings.
You may find that sitting in meditation may be challenging when your body is holding intense emotions,
And therefore walking is a wonderful practice both physically and mentally to get the energies moving and released.
This walking meditation is designed to mindfully simplify and streamline your connection to your body,
Soul,
And the universe.
Let's begin.
Take any pace that feels right in this moment,
Maybe it's a gentle stroll,
A brisk walk,
Or something in between.
Any speed is great.
You may have a specific destination in mind,
A set path,
Or just wander and allow the journey to take place.
Either are beautiful.
Start by noticing how your feet touch the ground,
Feeling the heel of the foot,
All the way to how the toes spread wide with each step.
Notice the pressure beneath the feet as you take each step.
Right,
Left,
Right,
Left.
Does your step make a sound?
The sound of pavement or the crunch of gravel?
Are there other sounds of nature?
Or people,
Birds,
A dog barking?
Any sound is okay.
Notice it and let it go.
Coming back to the body,
Feel how your ankles hinge and the calves tighten and relax with each step.
Do the kneecaps lift as you walk?
Feel the strength building in the upper legs,
Feeling gratitude for each step going forward as we float through space.
Gratitude for our able bodies and health,
Knowing that with each step that we take,
Our bodies balance levels of cortisol and release endorphins to naturally decrease stress.
If you find that your mind wanders,
It's okay.
Notice the thought,
Maybe name the emotion if one relates to it.
Your emotions do not hold power over you.
It's simply your body's response to a thought or action that has taken place.
We can choose to feel these darker,
Heavier energies,
Or we can surrender these energies over to the universe and allow us to enter a less reactive state.
Let the heavy energy feed by coming back to noticing your body in this moment.
Right here,
In this moment,
You are okay.
Return out of the mind and into the body by noticing your hips as you walk,
And your body or torso.
Notice how it may sway as you step.
Can you feel your lungs as you breathe deeply?
Does your heart space expand and contract?
Can you feel your heart beating with joy?
Notice the cool air as it rushes into the nose and the warmth of the air as it exits the body.
As you continue to breathe,
Repeat in your mind,
Breathing in,
I surrender.
Exhale out,
I release.
I surrender.
I release.
I surrender.
I release.
I surrender.
I release.
Notice the smell of the air.
Maybe there's fragrant trees,
Flowers,
Nature,
Or maybe the smell of someone baking or doing laundry.
Find relaxation in the stride of your walk and breathe deep into your body.
The connection to your body deepens with each breath.
The air we breathe oxygenates,
Purifies,
And restores our bodies.
The physical pain and tension subsides as our breath softens the body.
Allow your breath to release the swirl of energy of emotions and mind chatter.
Release it all to the external.
Negativity and all emotions that no longer serve you become light and float away as your breath sets them free.
Make the choice to feel love,
Joy,
And happiness rise to the surface of your skin as your breath grants these emotions the space to dance.
Feel this lightness and heightened energy as you swing your arms back and forth as you move forward with each step.
If your hands are in the clench of a fist,
Physically release your grip.
Open the fingers wide,
Giving them a stretch,
And soften them to a natural dangle.
Notice the spine long and tall all the way to the ground at the head.
Soften the shoulders and unclench the jaw.
Feel the cool air on your face.
Are there warm rays of sunshine beaming down or a gentle breeze cooling your brow?
May you be bathed in a rainbow of healing light.
Feel the power of the universe fill you with healing life force energy.
The connection to source and your soul deepens with each walking step and each breath.
The universe beams energy down through you into Mother Earth.
You are divinely connected from above and below.
You are supported by the universe.
In this space,
You will grow.
You will heal.
Unconditional love fills you and universal wisdom is downloaded upon you.
As you walk,
Thoughts of people you love may pop into your mind.
In your mind,
Wish them well by saying,
May you be happy.
May you be healthy.
May you live with ease.
Always remember to care for your well-being too.
May I be happy.
May I be healthy.
May I live with ease.
Again,
Thinking of someone who you love,
Sending them good energy saying,
May you be happy.
May you be healthy.
May you live with ease.
And once more for yourself,
May I be happy.
May I be healthy.
May I live with ease.
