Hello.
I am so glad you're here.
Put your feet on the ground.
Settle in and feel your breath just moving.
If it's safe to do so,
Maybe close your eyes and allow yourself to go into your inner world.
I know,
It's heavy out there.
It's hard.
It's frightening.
Take a moment.
And say aloud what you're feeling about what feels so out of control right now.
Now,
Take a big breath in.
Big breath out.
Feel the beat of your heart.
Sense and become aware of all that you are feeling.
I know stillness might be hard,
But we all need your stillness just for a moment.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
The out-of-control world is something that can feel completely unchangeable.
Absolutely untouchable.
We are reminded in these moments of how little control we sometimes have over the bigger things going on around us.
The injustice can create an anger deep in our bones.
What we have fought for may no longer feel respected.
Or perhaps the little progress that has been made feels as though it's being pulled back.
The feelings you are feeling are not meant to be pushed away.
No meditation or amount of breathwork should ever push away the feelings that are necessary for reminding us what we want our world to look like.
And in this moment,
I need you to remember what kind of world you want.
We all need you to remember.
Maybe it's a little more peace,
A little more harmony,
More justice,
More equality,
More sanity.
Whatever it may be.
Right now,
For a couple of moments,
Say aloud what kind of world you want to live in right now.
Now breathe in.
Breathe out.
Feel your heartbeat.
Feel and notice the temperature on your skin,
And take a moment just to watch yourself breathe naturally.
If your mind is wondering if it's going all over the place,
Just silently say to yourself,
I am breathing in as you breathe in.
And I am breathing out as you breathe out.
If you're pulled away,
It's okay.
Just come back to the breath.
I am breathing in.
I am breathing out.
Give yourself permission to let the breath slow down even more.
Invite your awareness to become fully absorbed in the rise of the inhale and the fall of the exhale.
Absorbs so much that it begins to feel as though everything around you is slowing down.
From this place,
Bring your hands to your heart.
Draw your awareness into the heart,
And notice what rises up.
Maybe even bow your head towards your heart as if you could look inside of it.
As if somewhere inside there might be answers to the deeper questions that live beneath the surface.
We may not be able to change the entire world overnight,
But in this moment.
.
.
What is one thing you can do in your immediate circle,
Your immediate world,
That can make the world a little bit better?
Maybe there is an overdue check-in with a friend,
A neighbor,
Or a family member.
Perhaps there is someone suffering in your community to whom you could offer a kind gesture.
Maybe your spouse,
Your child,
Your partner,
Or your co-worker could use a warm hug.
Maybe there's an elderly person in your life or within your community who could benefit from your presence.
Whatever it is.
Think of one thing.
No matter how big or how small it may seem,
One thing that could move your community,
Your family,
Your little corner of the world closer to the kind of world that you want the greater world to become.
Think of it now.
And now place your hands back on your heart,
And commit to doing this.
Use this moment if you're able to,
And make a plan.
Set a date,
Set a time.
Make a promise to yourself that you will follow through.
If you need to write it down,
Write it down.
And now let your hands fall into your lap and come back to your breath.
When the world feels overwhelmingly toxic and we feel helpless or out of control,
One of the gifts we can give is just a small gesture,
One small act,
One movement within our family,
Our community,
Or our little corner of the world that moves it closer to the world we want to live in.
It might begin with a phone call to the friend who longs to hear from us.
A long hug with our partner,
A visit with our elderly neighbor,
A kindness offered to someone who needs it.
You do not have to solve the whole world today.
But you are not powerless within it.
Take a big breath in.
Exhale.
Please know that one action touches one person.
One person touches another,
One small act creates a ripple.
And another.
And another.
Today,
From this place of overwhelm,
Anger,
Fear,
Or helplessness,
You have chosen to do something.
You have remembered the world you want to live in,
And you have chosen one small way to help create it.
Take a moment.
And acknowledge what you've done here.
You stopped.
You listened.
You remembered.
And you chose to act.
Take a big breath in.
And breathe out.
Thank yourself for showing up.
And know that I,
And the rest of us who share this planet with you,
Thank you too.
And when you're ready.
Please go and make your ripple.
