I have trouble fitting meditation into my busy schedule.
Is it okay to do five or ten minute meditation whenever I can,
Rather than set aside a 40 to 60 minute period every day?
Of course,
It's okay.
It's better than not doing it at all.
However,
It's not really enough amounts,
Especially compared to about 30 or 40 minutes of meditation.
We all have desires.
And we usually live our lives chasing after these desires.
We are enslaved to our desires.
Or we endure by resisting against these desires.
That causes stress.
So the objective of meditation is to get to a place of non-suffering by neither chasing after dreams or your desires,
Nor resisting them,
Which causes friction and stress.
So five to ten minutes is a kind of quick pause.
It's better than constantly moving,
But it is just a pause.
So you have to go at least 30 to 40 minutes in order to still be conscious of that resistance against your desires.
And also it's a matter of priority,
Making a time for yourself and for your meditation.
During the busy day,
It kind of shows what you put importance on.
So you say you're busy,
But what makes you so busy?
You can reduce your sleep time by 30 minutes,
Right?
30 minutes of meditation is actually better,
More restful than 30 minutes of sleep.
You can forego one meal,
And you get 30 minutes back.
If you reduce your intake of food,
It's probably better for your health anyways.
If this really will get you to a place where you can live truly free and without suffering in the midst of your busy schedule,
Then what wouldn't you do to actually be there,
Get there?
So this time will make itself available to you once you reprioritize your values.
And only with that attitude will the meditation really take impact.
So I'm saying that 5 to 10 minutes a day is better than not doing it at all.
However,
That doesn't really compare to being able to do it 30 to 40 minutes at a time.
5 to 10 minutes might not be your best effort,
But at least it could be your second best.
Thank you for watching.
