There's A Place

There's a Place, is a song from Songs of Plum Village, an album of songs learned during my 6 month stay in the monastery as an artist in residence.

Thich Nhat Hanh, who founded Plum Village grew up in Vietnam and mobilised many people to help with the war relief effort. Tired and at times scared of the conditions that they worked in, Thich Nhat Hanh wrote these volunteers poems to give them strength. In one he talks about the island within, a place inside, an island that you can go to nourish yourself.

Inspired by his peace work I wrote this song.
