Being with not knowing can be challenging,
Whether there's a particular decision that's come up,
Or there's a general sense of feeling lost,
Confused,
Or uncertain about how to move forward,
It can often feel frustrating.
I'm here to remind you that that's okay,
You're right where you need to be.
Being lost is the best way to end up somewhere you've never been.
And paradoxically,
It's from being at peace with our confusion that clarity arises.
It's often when we let go of the need to know that insight arrives.
So take a few moments to get settled in and find a comfortable position.
Take a few slow,
Deep breaths,
Relaxing the body,
Calming the mind.
You're safe here.
When we have a question or decision we'd like clarity on,
It can often stimulate the mind.
And the mind goes into its conditioned patterns and loops,
Perseverating and analyzing in circles to try to figure it out.
But as much as the mind wants to help,
It's often when the mind calms and quiets that clarity and insight arise.
So let's give permission to the mind to rest by offering it some loving-kindness and gratitude for all it does for us.
Now you can visualize this or do it physically,
But visualize or physically take your hand and gently caress the top of your head with loving-kindness and care.
As you caress your head,
Offer a silent or audible shhhh to your mind,
Like you're soothing a baby to rest.
If you feel called,
Silently or audibly,
Mix in a few words from the heart to soothe and calm your mind,
Like shhhh,
You're okay,
Shhhh,
Rest,
Shhhh,
It's safe to relax.
Try that now.
Now that we've calmed our mind,
We're going to ask for clarity.
You may do this in whatever feels right for you.
For example,
You can ask,
What is my deepest knowing about?
And fill in whatever you're seeking clarity about.
Or you can ask more generally,
What is my deepest knowing about anything that would be in my highest good to know at this moment?
I like to phrase it as a prayer.
Please God,
Universe,
Infinite intelligence,
Love,
Bless me with clarity and insight about.
The key to inquiry is to not go to the mind to think about the question.
Drop your question into awareness,
Like dropping a pebble into a still pond,
Trusting that whatever insights and clarity arise will ripple outwards to the shore.
After we drop the question,
We just rest,
Relax and be with patience and trust and be open to any way your intuition communicates with you.
It may come as a thought or an insight,
A vision in your mind's eye,
A memory,
An emotion,
A sensation in your body,
Or just a sense of knowing.
Drop in your question now.
After you drop in your question,
Just rest,
Relax and let go.
Just be.
If the mind wanders,
Just gently drop in your question again and return to resting,
Relaxing and letting go.
Let go of any expectations,
Attachments,
Or need to know.
Just be with not knowing.
Just rest in silence,
Calm and at peace.
Just open to receiving,
Patient and still.
And gently wrapping up our inquiry.
Trust that whatever insights or clarity you received or didn't receive was exactly what you were meant to.
The universe keeps us on a need-to-know basis.
If you don't know,
You don't need to know.
Just be okay with not knowing for now.
Clarity will arise if and when it's meant to.
If you receive something that seems abstract and you're unsure what it means,
Trust that that also will become clear when the time is right.
You may also want to journal about any insights that came up.
Also know that the inquiry doesn't end with this meditation.
Once you've dropped the question in,
Ripples may continue to arise in the coming days.
Stay open to any synchronicities that bring clarity.
In the meantime,
Just do your best with clarity you have.
That's enough.
Wishing you clarity,
My friend,
And peace with the unknown.
