Good evening and welcome.
You've made it through the day.
Now it's time to soften,
To slow,
And to let go.
So I invite you to come and find a comfortable space for the body,
Either lying down on your back or maybe on your side,
Let your hands rest where they naturally fall and if you feel safe you can gently close your eyes and take a slow deep breath in and a long soft breath out.
Feel the shift from doing to simply being and begin to notice your breath and let it flow in and out like a gentle evening breeze.
There's nothing to do,
Nowhere to be,
Just this moment.
Bring awareness to your body and scan slowly from head to toe.
Notice any places that feel tense,
Tired or holding on.
Invite those places to soften with each exhale.
Relax your face,
Unclench your jaw,
Lower your shoulders,
Let your arms feel heavy and allow your legs to sink into the surface beneath you.
Feel your whole body begin to settle,
To melt into the quiet of evening.
Now imagine the soft light of twilight wrapping around you,
A gentle dusky glow,
Shades of indigo,
Rose and silver.
Picture yourself outdoors,
Perhaps on a quiet hillside or near a window,
Observing the last light of day fade into evening.
Birdsong softens,
The sky gently darkens,
The air is cool,
Still and peaceful.
Let this quiet scene surround you and as the light fades,
Imagine all the busyness of your day slowly dissolving like clouds drifting across the sky and disappearing into the night.
Each breath out releases a little more,
Each breath in invites stillness and ease.
You are safe,
You are calm and I invite you to take a moment to honour your day without judgement and notice anything you'd like to let go of,
Thoughts or attention or any unfinished to-do's,
You don't need to carry them into the night,
Just place them gently down like setting down a heavy bag.
You can return to them tomorrow,
But for now,
This is your time to rest,
So I invite you to repeat quietly in your mind if it feels right.
I release the day and let these words settle into you like starlight,
Take one more slow full breath in,
Soft quiet breath out,
Let your body rest,
You are safe.
