Are you feeling unanchored?
Lost?
Unmoored?
When we lose our anchoring,
It's because we have let outside circumstances,
Our monkey mind,
Be our main focus.
We have forgotten who we are,
We have forgotten our values,
We have forgotten what's important to us.
So in this short meditation,
Let's take a moment to get anchored.
So I invite you to stop where you are.
You can either stand or you can sit.
And I invite you to breathe.
I invite you to simply inhale through your nose,
Easily and gently,
And exhale through your nose,
Easily and gently.
There are so many different ways to breathe.
If you keep your mouth closed,
Then you will not trigger the fight or flight or freeze response.
Just simply recycle through your nose,
Inhale and exhale your beautiful breath.
I invite you,
As you're breathing here,
To think about a time when you were anchored.
You knew what you were doing,
You were confident,
You felt assured and guided,
Supported perhaps.
When was the last time you felt that way?
Connect to that time now.
Whenever that was,
If it was yesterday or a long time ago,
Think about the ingredients,
The values that were the container that held you,
The container that moored you and anchored you.
Were you anchored in love,
Confidence,
Trust,
Faith?
See if now that same value can support you.
Or maybe you need a new one altogether.
That's fine,
Absolutely perfect.
Think about a value that you want to tie your hat to,
So to speak,
That you want to connect with.
And once you have that word,
That value,
That idea,
I invite you to breathe it in.
Both inhale and exhale.
Whether it's love,
Breathe in love,
And exhale love.
Or confidence,
Strength,
Peace,
Joy,
Whatever it is,
Breathe that in and breathe that out.
Now I'm not going to ask you to fake it till you make it,
But I'm going to ask you to come up with a short sentence,
A short phrase,
An affirmation that makes sense to you that you can wrap your mind around.
So for example,
If you chose the word peace,
I'm ready to feel peace.
I desire to be anchored to peace.
I'm learning how to be anchored to peace.
Whatever that word is,
Step into it like you're putting on a suit.
Step into love,
Calm,
Confidence,
Peace,
Resilience,
Joy.
Recognize that what you think becomes your reality.
What you think and what you speak becomes your truth.
So start speaking and believing in words that empower you,
That support you and buoy you up so you feel and are moored again.
I believe in you.
You can do this.
Pick a simple word and just for today,
Let it anchor you.
At the end of the day,
Come back and notice where did you feel peace?
Where did you feel love?
Or whatever your word is.
One simple word is just one step away from holding a full cup to being anchored to your truth and to your best self.
