The intent of this session is to relax the mind by way of a visualization while at the same time bolstering your sense of being and groundedness.
This is a very simple exercise.
There's no need to overthink it.
Simply let go while you listen.
You may wish to close your eyes or,
If you prefer,
Keep them open while maintaining a comfortable,
Defocused,
Soft gaze.
This session works best when your feet are planted flatly against the floor so you can be sitting or standing.
Either way,
Be sure your back is upright,
Taking a comfortable posture and not too rigid.
If you're standing,
Be sure to bend your knees ever so slightly and keep your feet about shoulder-width apart.
Now you're settling into a position and your spinal column is upright but relaxed.
Your feet are flat against the floor and you're feeling comfortable.
Allow your thoughts to simply pass by.
It helps to place your focus on your breath so that your attention doesn't drift off into daily thoughts.
Allow yourself to let go and relax.
If you find your attention becoming swept up in thought,
Simply bring your awareness back to the breath.
Let's take two deep breaths and breathe in all the way down into the abdomen.
Inhale and exhale.
And once more,
Breathe in deeply and release.
Good.
Consider your position once again and feel the muscles in your body relax.
Your posture is upright yet comfortable.
Notice any tension in your upper body and simply release it.
Just continue breathing at your normal rhythm in this relaxed state as we begin the visualization.
Imagine you're taking a leisurely hike by yourself down the side of a mountain.
The path guiding you is very clear.
The slope is generously gradual and the walk is easy.
You can faintly hear a continuous gush coming from a waterfall somewhere ahead in the distance.
You feel completely safe as you casually make your way down the path.
It's a beautiful,
Bright and sunny day and the temperature is ideal for a leisurely afternoon outing.
Glancing up,
You can see fragments of deep blue sky peeking through the vibrant green canopy of leaves high above.
Your carefree stroll in the gorgeous weather has you smiling as it occurs to you that this is truly a joyful experience.
The colors all around you seem so vivid and alive.
The green leaves are brightly illuminated by the sunshine and the smooth and easygoing path under your feet is dotted with hard shadows cast from the lofty ceiling of greenery above.
Looking ahead,
It seems the casual course is pulling an even brighter landscape closer as the path gives way to an illuminated opening in the forest.
You welcome the discovery of this natural exit or outlet into a brighter and warmer place.
Curious and eager to see what awaits,
The brighter light is drawing you near.
Now it seems you've reached the end of the path but the beginning of something much more sensational.
A couple more steps now has you immersed in the bright glow of sunlight.
You notice the warm sensation of the brilliant sun rays on your skin.
You pause and gaze up in utter amazement as you realize you're now in an extraordinarily special place.
Right there in front of you,
A magnificent waterfall cascades gently into a small pool of crystal clear water and the backdrop of the surrounding mountainsides creates an intimate and sanctuary-like effect.
The scene is absolutely breathtaking and picturesque.
You step out near the edge of a giant solid rock overlooking the clear water providing the perfect viewpoint for the scene.
You look around,
Take in the fresh air and simply marvel at the moment.
With your feet firmly planted on the solid and broad immovable earth,
You realize this is your place.
It's yours.
It belongs to you.
But it's more than that.
In some remarkable way,
It is you.
You feel deeply connected to this place.
You feel its energy flowing up through your feet and throughout your entire body.
This subtle energy is natural and healing and provides you with a sense of connectedness and being.
You feel thoroughly grounded and secure.
