Lezione 1
Healing The Heart
Our marma focus for today is on the hridayam. The hridayam mudra is the heart seal. Hridayam, which means heart, is the marma at the center of the chest. Bringing the awareness to the heart center allows the chest to open, and buried emotions to come to the surface. Use the power of the breath here to facilitate the deep cleansing of the emotional body.
Benefits of this mudra: It rejuvenates the heart, releases stress and emotions, relieves anxiety, regulates blood pressure and heart rate, and opens the heart chakra.
Directions for mudra: Curl the index finger into the palm while the thumb touches the middle and ring fingers. Then, extend the little finger.
Lezione 2
Healing Hands
Today's marma focus is on the tala hrida (center of palm). When you bring the palms together into prayer position at the center of the chest, this is called anjali mudra, the prayer or salutation seal. It's a prayer gesture to show respect, calming, and centering.
Feel the activation at the center of the palms at tala hrida marma, a powerful energy point that connects to the heart. It channels the energy of the heart and allows it to flow out through the hands.
Benefits of the anjali mudra: It connects to the heart energy and evokes humility, reverence, surrender, and devotion.
Directions for mudra: Press palms together in front of the chest with fingers pointed upwards.
Lezione 3
Rooted To The Earth
Today's marma focus is on the pad madhya, at the center of the soles of both feet. It is the most grounding point on the body. It drains excess energy from the head down to the feet. With each breath, feel more connected with the earth, more grounded and stable, drawing strength into the body.
We use the prthivi mudra, or the earth seal.
Benefits of mudra: It strengthens agni digestive energy, rebuilds weak constitution, promotes grounding, and centeredness, benefits the skin, helps you adjust to changes, and establishes joy.
Directions for mudra: Join the tip of your thumb and ring finger while other fingers extended.
Lezione 4
Root Chakra
Bring the focus to trik marma at the tailbone. This energy point is connected to muladhara, the root chakra. It is grounding and connects to the earth. Feel the entire spine become relaxed as trik marma is activated.
Today's marma focus is on the kashyapa mudra, or turtle seal.
Benefits of this mudra: It promotes grounding and centering, balances masculine and feminine energies, and protects against negative energies.
Directions for mudra: Place the tip of the thumb between the middle and ring fingers while closing the other fingers to make a fist.
Lezione 5
Golden Vitality
Nabhi marma is the navel and the seat of the body’s vitality. It is the meeting point of 72,000 nadis or subtle channels of energy. These channels flow through the entire body and connect all 7 chakras or energy centers. Access a deep reservoir of vitality within you. This marma connects to svadisthana chakra above the root chakra.
Today, we focus on the prana mudra, or energy seal.
Benefits of this mudra: It increases vitality and immunity, enhances digestion, activates self-healing potential, improves concentration, strengthens will power and stamina, and benefits the eyes.
Directions for mudra: Cover the tips of the ring and little fingers with the thumb pad and keep the index and middle fingers straight.
Lezione 6
Solar Radiance
Today's marma focus is on the surya, or solar plexus. Focus the awareness at surya marma on the midline of the abdomen, slightly above the navel. Surya means sun and is connected to the solar plexus. It is connected to the manipura chakra and strengthens digestive energy.
We will use the adhomukha mudra, or downward facing seal.
Benefits of this mudra: It strengthens digestive fire and activates the manipura chakra.
Directions for mudra: Touch the thumb tips together while the back of other fingers are touching. Point 8 fingers to abdomen.
Lezione 7
Blooming Heart
As you bring your awareness to the heart space, focus on hridayam marma at the center of the chest. Our marma focus, hridayam, means heart. This point will unfold compassion, love, and devotion. This marma activates anahata or the heart chakra.
We use the kapittha mudra, or wood apple seal.
Benefits of this mudra: It increases sensitivity and receptivity, expands devotion and kindness, opens the connection between the heart and pelvis, stimulates healthy libido, and releases guilt and shame around sexuality.
Directions for mudra: Place thumb between index and middle fingers and close the other fingers to make a fist.
Lezione 8
Speak Your Truth
Our marma focus is the kantha (throat). Kantha marma is located right above the Adam's apple. Kantha nadi is the energy point at the midline of the throat, between the collar bones. Both of these marma points are the seat of vishuddha or the throat chakra which governs expression. Breathing here opens up the channels of communication.
We use the karana mudra, or instrument of the senses seal.
Benefits of this mudra: It cleanses, purifies, and detoxifies the body-mind; releases negative patterns and habits, and benefits intestine bladder and colon.
Directions for mudra: Cover the nails of the middle and ring fingers with the pad of the thumb. Then, extend the index and little fingers.
Lezione 9
Awaken The Third Eye
Bring the awareness to ajnya marma on the midline of the forehead. This is the third eye energy point, slightly above the midpoint between the eyebrows. Ajnya marma enhances intuition, insight, and memory. It awakens the brain and all the aspects of the mind. It can regulate the nervous system, balancing the emotions, and soothing the mind. Activate ajnya chakra by focusing on ajnya marma at the third eye.
We use the kubera mudra, or wealth seal.
Benefits of this mudra: It's a magnet that attracts abundance and manifests true desires, sharpens inner wisdom and the ability to see life path more clearly, clears the sinuses, balances the right and left nostrils, and improves sense of smell.
Directions for mudra: Join the tips of thumb with index and middle fingers while curling the ring and little fingers into the palm.
Lezione 10
Lotus Of Creativity
The marma focus is on the murdhni, at the vertex on head. At the crown of the head is the murdhni marma, which is connected to Sahasrara, the crown chakra. This is the gateway that connects to the cosmos and heavenly energy. It is the awakening of intelligence and creativity.
We will use hamsi mudra, containing the spirit seal.
Benefits of this mudra: It removes obstacles, creates lightness, relieves depression and grief, benefits the lungs, and clears the intestines.
Directions for this mudra: Join the tips of the thumb with middle, ring, and little fingers while extending the index finger.
Lezione 11
Journey Through The 7 Chakras
Today we focus on all 7 marmani. Journey through each of the 7 energy centers, starting at tailbone and rising up to the top of the head. At each center, witness how the breath deepens by focusing the awareness at each marma point. Activate the muladhara chakra by focusing on the trik marma at the tailbone. Activate the svadisthana chakra by focusing on the nabhi marma at the navel. Activate the manipura chakra by focusing on the surya marma at the navel. Activate the anahata chakra by focusing on the hridayam marma at the heart. Activate the vishuddha chakra by focusing on the kantha and kantha nadi marma at the throat. Activate the ajnya chakra by focusing on the ajnya marma at the third eye. Activate the sahasrara chakra by focusing on the murdhni marma at the vertex.
We will use two mudras for this exercise.
First is the chin mudra or consciousness seal.
Benefits of this mudra: It enhances focus and concentration, palms down creates rootedness. sharpens intellect, reduces daydreaming, lifts depression, and opens the lungs.
Directions for mudra: Join tip of thumb with the tip of the index finger. Keep the other 3 fingers extended and relaxed with palms facing down.
Second is the jnana mudra, or wisdom seal.
Benefits of mudra: It calms the mind, brightens the spirit, creates lightness, opens the chest, and enhances breathing.
Directions for mudra: Same as chin mudra, with palms facing up.
Lezione 12
Infinity Breath
We focus on 3 specific marma points - trik (tailbone), hridayam (center of chest), and murdhni (vertex of the head) - while visualizing the infinity symbol or a figure of 8. These 3 points have a lovely sacred connection when linked in this manner, allowing the breath to alternate from the front and back sides of the body. It allows the energy to flow from the trik marma at the root chakra, which is grounding; to Hridayam marma at the heart center, which is the connector; to Murdhni marma at the crown chakra which allows energy to ascend.
We use the bhairava mudra or fierce seal or beyond fear of death.
Benefits of this mudra: It calms the mind, releases ego, and builds courage to fully embrace life.
Directions for mudra: Place the back of the right hand into the palm of your left hand, then rest them on your lap.
