09 Whose Child I Am Commentary

To have a conversation with God requires an ability to listen as well as to speak. Whose child am I?

When I remember that I,

The soul,

I am eternally the child of you,

The Supreme Soul,

I am reminded both of my true identity but also of my values,

My standards and the powers that are available to me.

When I live in the world simply as an ordinary person relating to people,

People's opinions and situations,

It's rather like bouncing off from one experience to the other,

Just like a ball in a pinball machine.

But when I remember I,

The soul,

I am a child of you,

The Supreme,

The Divine,

This change in my identity causes me to relate to life from a very different angle.

Whatever is your identity,

Whatever are your titles are also my titles.

You are the one who is called the remover of sorrow and the bestower of happiness.

And so this too is my responsibility and my title.

Let me be the one who comes into relationship and interaction with others and have the responsibility and the aim to bestow happiness.

Let me spread light where there is darkness.

Let me not wait for others to improve their behavior towards me before I improve mine towards them.

But when I remember that my parent is the remover of sorrow and the bestower of happiness,

It gives me the impetus and the energy to act with goodness without being asked.

You are the one who is the giver,

The donor,

The bestower.

And by remembering that I am your child,

I automatically start to share and bestow to others.

Bestow happiness,

Bestow respect,

Bestow love,

Bestow care.

There are times when I may feel that the task before me is greater than my capacity.

But when I remember I am your child,

I am the child of the one who is the supreme almighty authority.

This fills me with confidence,

With courage,

And with strength.

Knowing that the child of such a powerful parent would also be so powerful,

It fills my consciousness with great confidence and determination and enables me to offer the best of myself to the task in front of me.

All I have to do is just to remain aware that I am your child.

And within this,

The game changes in a second.

To keep this in my awareness is my gift towards my own self.

And as I live in this awareness,

I also encourage others to claim the right to strength,

To power,

And to confidence which belongs to each soul.
