Dear Earth,
Radiant jewel of blue,
White and green,
From my heart and soul I thank you for your splendour,
Your richness,
For your magnificent array of plants and creatures,
Trees and flowers,
Seasons and cycles,
May I live in gratitude and awe of your infinite wonders.
Dear Earth,
I thank you for holding me in this life,
For supporting my existence with everything I have needed.
Like a mother,
You have provided for me and nurtured me since the day of my birth.
Dear Earth,
At times in my life I may have strayed from my path,
Become distracted by worthless objects and pursuits,
Neglected to care for and revere you,
But you have never abandoned me,
And right now what matters is that I am ready to respect and honour you.
Dear Earth,
I will not hide nor turn away from the destruction and harm that is being brought upon you.
May my grief serve to awaken me from my slumber and to loosen my attachment to comfort and denial.
Dear Earth,
Help me to forgo willingly those consummous pleasures that deplete you,
Surrendering them for the deeper sense of meaning that comes from living in harmony with you and respecting your resources.
May I be content with ever greater simplicity,
Nourished by your closeness to me.
Dear Earth,
Let me not fall into paralysis or despair.
I may not be able to halt single-handedly the industrial machine,
But even my small actions make me part of a worldwide turning.
As a collective we are heroic.
On some level I have chosen to be born here at this time,
And however humble,
I too have my part to play.
Dear Earth,
In the vast and intricate interconnected web of life in which you are cloaked,
No being is unworthy of protection and love.
I vow to uphold your wondrous beauty and diversity,
Even to the last tree,
Bird or flower.
Dear Earth,
Make it clear to me how I may serve you at this time.
May I be awake and present to the opportunities that present themselves.
May I act with courage,
Integrity and care.
May it be imprinted on my heart forevermore that all life is sacred.
