And this meditation to help you cleanse and rebalance your solar plexus or Manipura chakra.
The third chakra,
Also called your fire chakra,
Is your energy powerhouse,
And it holds the key to activating your true,
Authentic and higher power,
Your worth and your potential.
It is the centre of your will,
Confidence and personal power.
In today's meditation,
We will be doing some traditional meditative work,
And also using an active breathing technique from yogic traditions to activate and cleanse this vital chakra.
This breathing technique is called the fire breath.
The fire breath section of this practice should not be practiced during pregnancy,
If you are epileptic,
Have respiratory issues,
Or any issues with your spine.
People with cardiovascular issues or any other serious health conditions should always consult a medical professional before starting breath work like this.
Remember,
These exercises are a guide only,
You should always listen to your own body and not push yourself,
If you feel unwell,
Stop.
I'll let you know when we get to the fire breath section,
And you can simply continue regular,
Relaxed breathing with a visualisation instead.
Here's an overview of how to do fire breath,
And I'll explain it again when we come to this section in the meditation.
During fire breath,
You inhale normally,
And you exhale forcefully,
Contracting the diaphragm and pulling the belly in quickly.
The exhale,
Which requires you to contract your abdominal muscles,
Is the main focus of this technique.
You will hear the sound of the air whoosh out of your nose.
The inhale and exhale should be the same length,
Without any pauses in between.
The pattern of breathing is more important than the speed,
So start slow if you're new to the technique,
But as you improve,
You're aiming for approximately 4 breaths every second to have the effect we need and fully activate the chakra.
It's supposed to be fast and physical,
And it's common to feel dizzy or lightheaded while practising fire breath,
But always listen to your body.
If you feel uncomfortable,
Stop,
And try slow breathing instead.
Okay,
Let's begin today's meditation.
Sit comfortably in a chair or cross-legged on the ground.
Make sure your spine is nice and straight.
If you're sitting on a chair,
Make sure your feet are resting flat on the ground,
Preferably barefoot.
You can rest your hands gently in your lap,
Left hand under right,
Palms facing up,
Or on your legs,
Palms up again in receiving mode.
Tuck your chin gently inward so your head is relaxed,
And the tongue gently rests towards the roof of the mouth,
Your jaw is relaxed.
Allow your eyes to gently close into a half-closed position,
Or even fully closed position.
Focus your attention on your breath.
Notice the natural rhythm and the flow of your breath.
Breathe in and out gently through your nose.
Notice your chest rise and fall with each cycle of breath.
Let's spend some time now focusing just on your breath.
Just relax.
If you find your mind wandering to other thoughts,
Gently remind yourself to return to the motion of your breath.
Allow your breath to fill the empty cavity of your lungs naturally.
Feel your belly expand gently,
Then allow it to release as naturally as possible.
Do not force your breath,
Just breathe.
Now we will take in three deep breaths and breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Now take in one deep breath.
As you're inhaling,
You imagine the purest silvery white light filling the entire essence of your being,
Channeling into you from the heavens through your crown chakra at the top of your head.
Breathe deeply into your belly,
Welcoming this light in,
And exhale through your chest.
Allow it to fill all aspects of your existence.
Imagine each cell of your body being filled and rejuvenated with this pure white light.
As you exhale,
Feel all the stress and tensions of your day release into the universe.
Let go of the things which no longer serve you.
Let go.
As you notice this white light coursing through your being,
Through your crown and down your spine,
Your arms,
Your chest and your belly,
Then down into your legs and into your feet,
You notice that this white light permeates every cell of your body.
As you breathe in,
Feel the light come into the crown chakra and wrap around any place that feels heavy,
Blocked or dark.
You will know instinctively where these are,
It might be your head,
Your legs,
Your stomach or just a general feeling all over.
Feel the light washing through you gently and clearing out any unwanted energies,
Any pains or anything that is troubling you.
Taking these with it,
Let it wash out of your feet and ground into the earth that supports you.
Once you are comfortable and feeling calm and relaxed,
Visualize the white light flow down through your body to the root chakra,
Then transmute from red here to orange at the sacral chakra and then to a vibrant yellow at your solar plexus.
Your lower three chakras represent your power in the physical plane,
So we ensure all are activated before we cleanse the solar plexus.
As you breathe out,
Feel the energy and light from the solar plexus increase and spread through your body.
Breathe the light in through the crown,
Down to your root,
Then your sacral chakra and then to your solar plexus.
As you breathe out,
Feel the heat and the light from the solar plexus grow and fill your space.
Your solar plexus is your fire chakra,
So imagine a fire like a phoenix rising from the flames.
This is the cleansing energy of the universe,
Opening your chakra and liberating your blocks safely.
Allow this fire to burn out any toxicity within the solar plexus,
Transmuting any stuck,
Blocked and stagnant energies to blazing passion,
Confidence and energy.
See the fire clearly,
The yellow flames burning like the sun,
Radiating a spark of magnificent yellow in and out of the chakra.
With each breath,
This yellow light radiates energy up through your spine,
Life force energy filling up every part of your body.
The energy grows more and more powerful,
As powerful as the energy of the sun,
Filling every cell of your body,
Flooding your mind and body with vibrant yellow as it turns into golden yellow like the sun.
Every cell is alive,
Every cell fed with this powerhouse of energy,
Exuding from the golden lotus located in the solar plexus.
Take a few breaths now to experience this and feel this,
If there is any stuck energy,
Feel the power of your own inner sun,
Wash it away for good.
Let the light emanate beyond your body,
It is not limited to your physical form and is now surrounding you like an aura.
You are inside and you are safe and secure.
Just sit here for two minutes breathing and allow the light to cleanse your being.
Now we will do the fire breath exercise to activate the body and transmute the energy into the physical being.
Again you can just breathe gently through this part of the practice if you are unsure or you have any health conditions,
Or even if you get too tired until you are more experienced.
Let's begin.
Inhale normally through your nose feeling your belly expand as you do and without pausing exhale forcefully through your nose while contracting your abdominal muscles,
Keep your inhales and exhales of equal length,
Continue the rhythm,
Inhaling passively and exhaling forcefully as you listen to the music and feel the solar plexus chakra activating.
Keep going,
You may feel yourself getting warmer,
This is normal,
You may also feel light headed,
This is normal,
Keep breathing.
Keep going,
Nearly there.
Keep going.
Now take a deep inhale and a slow exhale,
Let your breath return to normal.
Now place your hands over your heart,
First your left palm,
Then rest your right palm on top.
Now repeat these affirmations to fully connect and open your solar plexus chakra.
I arrive fully into this body with calm and ease.
I relax,
Surrender,
Let go,
I have arrived.
I am confident,
Passionate and full of energy.
I know my true power,
Worth and potential.
I am safe and secure in my power,
Worth and potential.
I am loved and loved in my power,
Worth and potential.
I am free from any fears holding me back from my power,
Worth and potential.
Breathe in to invite balance,
Breathe out to purge what is not serving you.
Now take three deep breaths,
Allow your inhalation to fill your lungs completely.
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale.
Lift the hands now and cover your eyes,
Feel their warmth flow into you,
Inhale,
Exhale.
Now move the hands to cover your ears,
Inhale,
Exhale.
And when you are ready,
Allow your eyes to open naturally and rest your hands back on your legs,
Bring yourself back to consciousness pleasantly and subtly.
Move your body slowly and calmly until you're back to yourself in this world.
