Wherever you are right now,
It's time to give yourself a moment to pause.
For these next few moments,
Know that there's nothing else that needs your attention.
You don't need to do anything,
Fix anything or figure anything out.
It's time to simply arrive here.
Start by noticing your body.
Wherever you may be sitting or lying down,
Start to bring your awareness to the surface beneath you,
The ground holding you,
Supporting you.
Now bring your awareness to your breath.
Try not to change it,
Simply notice.
Notice the natural rise and fall,
Inhaling and exhaling.
If you notice a sense of overwhelm present today,
This might look like thoughts racing,
Chest feeling tight or mind pulling in every direction,
Simply notice it.
Just know that you don't need to push it away.
You can just acknowledge it and acknowledge your awareness of it.
Now taking a long inhale in through the nose and a long soft exhale through the nose.
Another big inhale.
And as you breathe out,
Letting go of anything you've been carrying.
And again,
Breathing in and letting go.
Now starting to notice the body,
Bringing awareness to your hands,
Are they warm or cool?
Resting or holding?
Simply noticing.
And bringing awareness to your feet now.
Feeling the surface beneath them or anywhere they have contact with another surface.
Keeping your awareness here in this moment,
This body,
Right now.
Overwhelm tells us that everything needs our attention all at once.
Right now,
The only thing that needs your attention is your breath.
Noticing the in-breath and the out-breath.
And now allowing the breath to deepen.
Starting to notice the space the body is holding in this moment.
And slowly bringing your awareness back to the space you're in.
Imagining the walls around you and the ceiling above you.
Starting to notice the sounds you can hear close by.
And the sounds you can hear at a distance.
Now taking a moment to set an intention for the rest of the day.
Repeating quietly within,
I don't have to do everything.
I am choosing to do the next small thing.
I don't have to do everything.
I am choosing to do the next small thing.
Taking one more breath in.
Maybe it's your biggest breath so far today.
Filling the whole belly and torso.
And letting it go.
When you're ready,
Gently opening the eyes.
And allowing yourself grace as you move through the rest of your day.
