So this meditation that I'm going to lead you guys on is going to be,
It's inspired by a psychologist,
Dr.
Ross Watts.
It's centered around psychological flexibility.
And what that means is basically,
If we like to imagine our lives as a sea of crazy waves,
Right?
Like washing over us sometimes,
Sometimes that piece,
But a lot of times it's sloshing around and moving around and we're in it.
And a lot of times our egos,
Our kind of smaller selves,
Will get caught up in it and try and resist it and kind of get exhausted by it.
And it can be so exhausting to fight back against the swells.
And what we can find is that when we practice psychological flexibility,
We're able to find peace even when the world is swirling around us.
And it seems like so much chaos.
We can find a bit of peace in it because there's always peace within ourselves if we're willing to dive down and find it.
So we'll begin by just scanning around the room you're in.
Start to notice the textures.
Start to notice the energy in the room.
Start to hear any sounds that are around you.
Just start to become intimately connected with this present moment.
Once you feel yourself start to settle into the space and you feel safe,
Contained,
Go ahead and just take a deep breath in through the nose and sigh it out through the mouth.
And as you do,
Shut down your eyes and start to feel your awareness.
Just start to settle in.
I like to imagine a snow globe that's been shaken up.
And just start to imagine that all the snow in the snow globe is settling down,
Finding its place to rest.
And as your mind is settling on in,
As we're coming back home to ourselves,
Begin to imagine that you are floating in the ocean.
And just notice what it's like to float.
Feel yourself laying on your back,
Gazing up into the sky,
Floating in the stillness of the ocean.
And as you float,
All of a sudden the waves start to begin to pick up and they start to wash over you.
And you start to notice yourself kind of fighting against them,
A bit in resistance to them,
Maybe feeling a bit scared,
Confused,
And trying to ground yourself,
But they just keep coming.
And as you continue to find yourself amidst these waves,
You realize that you're able to sink beneath them.
And so as you feel the last bit of the waves washing over you,
You begin to relax your body.
And as you take a deep breath in through your nose and release,
You start to sink down beneath the waves.
And suddenly there's a bit of peace.
You can still feel the currents moving.
And so you take another deep breath in through the nose,
And you settle deeper,
Now gradually sinking down into the depths of the ocean.
And you watch as up above the waves crash.
You watch the whitewash,
The wind blow.
As you move deeper and deeper into the stillness of the ocean.
And as you sink deeper and deeper,
Deeper below the chaos,
You find yourself reaching the bottom of the ocean.
And with your eyes still closed as you're sinking,
Feel the sand touch the back of your body.
And feel yourself effortlessly land atop the sand.
And as you do this,
Begin to scan through your body,
Starting at your head and feeling into any sensations you feel in your body.
Feel into your top of your head.
Move down through the eyes and the face.
Feeling the mouth and the tongue.
Feeling into the neck,
The shoulders.
Scanning down through the upper chest.
Down through the left arm,
Into the left hand.
Down through the right arm,
Into the right hand.
Feeling deeply into the sole or plexus,
The stomach.
Down through the pelvis and into the upper legs.
Feeling into the knees,
Feeling into the calves.
And all the way down into the feet.
Feeling into every toe.
And just rest for a moment.
Feeling fully embodied,
Fully grounded in the peace at the bottom of the ocean.
And take one deep breath all the way in.
And exhale all the way out.
Feeling fully embodied,
Feeling back home.
And begin to now open your eyes.
And as you open your eyes,
You start to see all these beautiful fish.
Colorful coral,
Beautiful kelp,
Seaweed passing by.
Flowing with the currents of the ocean.
And as you're scanning around and looking at all the beauty,
You notice over to the right a pile of dark colored oysters.
You look at the oysters and it feels like there's a heaviness to them,
A bit of an intensity to them.
But your curiosity leads you over to them.
And you swim right on over to this pile of dark oysters.
And as you look at these oysters,
You realize that these oysters are very familiar.
These oysters represent some of the heartaches,
Heartbreaks,
Perhaps childhood experiences that have still been incomplete.
Maybe letdowns or upsets.
Some of them are big and some of them are small.
And as you look around these oysters,
You decide to courageously reach out and pick one up.
And immediately you're intimately connected with what this oyster is for you.
And as you hold this oyster in your hands,
An intensity rushes through your body.
You may feel charged.
There may be anger.
But you courageously hold this oyster in your hands.
And as you bring this oyster closer to your heart,
Closer to your chest,
It begins to open.
And suddenly a fog of the softer emotions,
The vulnerability,
Perhaps sadness,
Perhaps a touch of guilt,
These softer emotions that were covered up by the shell of anger and intensity,
Start to wash through you effortlessly and with ease.
And as this cloud passes through your being and washes over you and is taken away by the current of the ocean,
You look down into the center of the oyster and you see this beautiful pearl shining back at you.
You look at the pearl and you see that there's a lesson written on this pearl.
Feel into what this lesson is.
What is the wisdom that this pearl wants to share with you now?
And just receive that wisdom in.
And when you're ready,
Feel free to reach out and grasp that pearl in your hands,
Letting the shell drop effortlessly to the bottom of the ocean and holding this pearl,
Feeling the wisdom in your being,
Feeling the lightness,
Feeling the calm Buddha-like presence.
And as you move this pearl closer to your heart,
It suddenly dissolves back into your heart,
Becoming a part of you,
Brightening your heart,
Allowing your chest center to expand.
Feel light,
Warm,
Compassionate.
And a smile rushes over your face.
And with this lightness,
You begin to rise effortlessly,
Moving up toward the surface,
Looking down at all the beautiful coral,
All the beautiful fish passing you by.
And as you reach the surface of the water,
You float again amongst the waves,
Feeling at peace,
Not fighting against them,
But moving with them.
And as your body floats atop the ocean,
With a smile across your face,
You start to see yourself from outside of your body,
Looking down,
And you watch yourself float.
And miraculously,
Your consciousness becomes the sky,
Becomes the ocean around you,
Expands out,
Becomes the sun.
And as you surround yourself,
Watching,
You feel deeply connected to the entire environment,
Noticing that there are no boundaries between you and everything.
And a feeling of deep,
Connected presence moves through your being.
Allow yourself to watch yourself float from this perspective,
Feeling at peace,
Feeling accomplished,
Feeling at ease.
And to come out of this meditation,
We're going to take three deep breaths.
Go ahead and breathe out wherever you are now,
And breathe in through your nose,
And sigh out through your mouth.
Take another deep breath in through your nose,
And exhale out through your mouth.
Take one last deep breath,
The deepest breath you've taken all day,
In through your nose,
And sigh it out with a big sigh through the mouth,
Wiggling your toes,
Wiggling your fingers,
Coming back to your body,
Feeling your consciousness back in yourself.
And when you're ready,
Go ahead and open your eyes,
And go ahead and scan around the room,
Noticing the light reflecting off of all the textures around you.
And just notice what you feel inside your being coming back.
And a powerful thing to do once we close out this meditation is to write,
Write down whatever you saw,
And whatever your experience was.
And sometimes we feel into the energy of these things,
And maybe the content isn't even there,
But we feel a deep release inside of our souls,
Inside of our spirits,
Inside of our beings.
And so be present with it,
And allow it to carry with you as a thread throughout the rest of your day.
And as we wrap up here,
I'd love to know how you all are feeling after going through this meditation,
And also what you experienced,
And maybe what was the wisdom that you felt as that pearl spoke to you as it settled into your being.
So if you want to share any thoughts or takeaways in the chat,
Feel free to.
