Take a couple of moments to get settled and comfortable,
Either seated or laying down.
Gather any pillows or props that you need to feel fully supported and comfortable during this meditation.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Breathe in through your nose,
And gently exhale with a sigh.
Breathe in again through your nose,
Feeling the pressure build in your belly and chest,
And exhale again.
And breathe in through your nose,
Feeling the sensation of how the air moves in,
And how it feels moving out of your mouth as you exhale.
And continue to breathe at your own pace.
And as you exhale,
Feel yourself settle,
Be more comfortable in your seat,
With roots extending down,
Out from the base of your spine or your feet,
Down into the earth.
Reach your roots down deeply,
Down past the foundation of the building you are in,
Down into the earth,
Into the water table,
Down deep into the mantle or the core.
Allow your roots to compost anything that you do not need,
And exchange,
Receive the love and gratitude of the earth,
And as you breathe out,
Breathe love and gratitude back out,
Down into the earth.
As you feel your roots reach down in,
Feel the roots of mugwort,
Deeply rooted and grounded.
And we invite in the energy and vibration of mugwort.
What might mugwort have to offer for us now?
This can arise as physical sensations in the body,
Colors,
Memories,
Songs.
Whatever it is that arises,
There is no judgment.
Just allow whatever mugwort has to share.
Artemisia vulgaris.
Artemisia,
The huntress,
The moon.
This is not the direct light of the sun.
This is yin.
This is reflective.
This is the reflection of the sunlight across the moon.
As you reflect,
Deeply rooted down,
And you are able to ground and reflect,
Continue to invite in mugwort,
Whatever mugwort has to offer for you in this moment.
Imagine yourself fully rooted,
Maybe reflecting into a mirror of water reflecting the moonlight,
And invite in Artemisia vulgaris.
If your mind has started to wander,
That's okay.
It's what minds do.
Gently and lovingly,
Bring your attention,
Your focus,
Back to your mugwort roots,
Reaching deep down into the earth,
And to the mirror reflection of the moonlight,
And what mugwort has to offer for you,
Artemisia vulgaris.
And start to bring your awareness back to your breath,
Back to yourself.
Begin to extend outwards to the noises in the room that you are in,
The noises outside the room.
Begin to wiggle your fingers,
Maybe squeeze the hands together into fists,
And pat your body down,
And give deep gratitude to the earth for supporting you and your roots,
And to mugwort.
And take your time opening your eyes as you adjust back to the room you are in,
And moving about your day.
