Hey everyone!
Today I wanted to talk about a quote that I read in the second book of the Tao,
Which is Adaptations by Stephen Mitchell.
And the quote is.
As we see it,
So it is.
And I think that this is incredibly poignant.
As we see it,
So it is.
It sounds simple.
It sounds almost like,
Well,
Yeah,
Of course.
I think about the psychological term confirmation bias,
And I learned this in grad school to become a therapist.
If I believe that I'm unworthy of love,
I will inadvertently seek out and create scenarios that validate that core belief.
If I believe that people are bad.
I will find evidence to support that.
But if I believe that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have.
I will have generous assumptions of people.
If I believe that I am worthy of love and belonging and that it's okay to make mistakes.
I will find evidence that confirms that,
And I will be able to practice a deeper self-compassion.
As we see it,
So it is.
And so our journey is less about changing people,
Places,
Things,
Everything that's outside of our control,
And more about Untangling.
What is blocking me from feeling like I'm in my center?
I want to be in the center with no circumference.
And that means that the whole world,
The whole universe is also in that.
Circumference.
Circumference?
I'm bad at math.
That's a narrative.
We're not going to go there.
I think it's so interesting in videos,
Like there's an innate discomfort and vulnerability that I can feel because I don't want to like edit it or clip things out.
And I obviously don't have a script.
I'm just speaking from the heart.
I also don't know if this microphone works.
It's brand new.
And there's something really beautiful and freeing about remembering If I'm holding on to imposter syndrome of who am I to be talking about this if I don't live it perfectly or what do I have to offer or no one's going to watch this.
And I come back to my center and remember.
I'm not making this for the views or the listens.
If this resonates with someone,
Awesome.
And if it doesn't,
That's okay too.
It resonates with me.
And when I act without attachment to the fruits of my actions,
I get to feel freedom.
And so today I'm choosing to believe that I am worthy of love and belonging.
I don't have to prove my worth by doing anything at all.
Today I choose to believe that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have.
And I'm choosing to believe these things,
Whether or not they're true,
Because as we see it,
So it is.
And that's the is that I want to be living in.
So I hope this was helpful,
And if not,
That's okay too.
