The Seven Terraces
This meditation is taken from the Inner Light Consciousness Teachings; where the listener is guided through a journey towards and up a mountain. The mountain represents levels of consciousness that the listener passes through on the way to their enlightened selves.
Transcript
This meditation is called the Seven Terraces.
It is based on the work of Paul Solomon and the Fellowship of the Inner Light.
If you keep a journal,
Have it nearby so that you can record what comes up for you afterwards.
To prepare for this meditation,
Make sure that your seat is comfortable,
That your back is resting,
And your feet are flat on the floor.
Set your eyes softly on a point in front of you.
Draw in a deep inhale and then let out a deep exhale.
Go ahead and take two more deep breaths in and out.
And then let your eyes continue to rest softly in a point in the room in front of you,
Or you can go ahead and let your eyes gently close.
First,
Imagine a pleasant place.
It can be a meadow or a beach.
It doesn't really matter where,
But just to make sure that it's in nature.
Now imagine every aspect of the place,
Such as the way it smells,
Maybe some tastes,
Sounds you hear,
Sights,
And the way you feel.
Once you become relaxed and feel at peace in your special place,
Notice that in the distance there's a mountain.
And when you look closely,
You'll see that the mountain has seven terraces.
This piques your curiosity and begin to feel your excitement as you're drawn to the mountain and start walking towards it.
As you approach the mountain,
You'll see that the first terrace is red.
You'll see beautiful roses and geraniums there.
Feel the color red as it pulses through your body.
This is the terrace of excitement.
Feel your excitement about the possibilities that are available through meditation.
Imagine that what happens during meditation could change your life.
When you feel the excitement,
Step out of the red terrace and begin your ascent up the mountain.
The second terrace is orange.
You see orange fruit on trees.
Perhaps they're oranges and you can smell them.
Perhaps you even take a bite of an orange.
Feel the vibration of the orange energy.
This is the terrace of forgiveness and letting go.
In the corner is an orange chest where you can leave behind anything that doesn't serve you.
Perhaps leaving angry feelings towards someone,
Maybe a behavior you want to let go of.
Whatever it is,
You can leave it behind and put it in the orange chest.
You leave the terrace having forgiven others and also having forgiven yourself.
The third terrace is yellow and represents new beginnings.
The daffodils are out and yellow roses are blooming.
You feel excited and energized like in springtime.
Feel the energy of the yellow terrace.
Anything is possible here.
Think about what new things you want in your life.
Friends,
New job,
Health,
Greater confidence.
Whatever you want is available and is possible in the yellow terrace.
Take a moment to imagine what it is that you want new in your life.
When you have what you want,
Leave the terrace and ascend the mountain to the next terrace.
The fourth terrace is green and is filled with moss,
Deep green pine trees and other beautiful evergreens.
You feel a calm and peacefulness as soon as you step inside.
This is the terrace where you meet your spiritual guide and realize that you are not alone.
Wherever you go and whatever you do,
Your spiritual teacher is always there to guide,
Help and support you.
Look into the teacher's eyes and feel the unconditional love.
Know that you have the love and support you need at all times.
Feel the energy of the green terrace.
Step out and go up the mountain.
The fifth terrace is blue.
You see blue bonnets and delphinium and irises all around.
Feel the energy of the color blue.
For this is the terrace of release.
In trying to control,
We may lose out on knowing our higher purpose.
So we release our will to the universe knowing that it is for the higher good.
When you feel the color blue and surrender to the higher power,
Step out onto the mountain and go ever higher.
The sixth terrace is purple.
You walk into a sea of violets and orchids.
The color violet is rich and you feel the depth of the vibration from it.
This is the terrace of responsibility.
You have been given many gifts and you accept your responsibility to bring them fully into the world.
Your strength is in sharing your gifts with others.
And on this terrace,
You commit to fully bringing your gifts into the world.
When you acknowledge your responsibility,
You find yourself on the seventh terrace at the top of the mountain.
The first thing you see is a brilliant light as bright as the sun.
You walk into the light and are flooded with the brilliance and the light and warmth swallowed by the sun and all that is light.
You find yourself surrounded with white light and love.
You dive into a reflecting pool and wash away any sadness or negativity.
As you step out,
You wrap yourself in a white terry cloth towel that warms and supports you.
On the top of the mountain,
You can go to your healing room and heal yourself and others.
Sit in the peacefulness of love that surrounds you and feel the peacefulness inside yourself.
When you are ready to leave,
You acknowledge your gratitude for being in the presence of your higher self and begin your descent down the mountain.
In doing so,
You pause at each terrace to recall what you felt and end in your peace and beauty.
On the purple terrace,
Remember your responsibility for bringing your gifts fully into this world.
On the blue terrace,
Feel again how good it is to release control,
To let go and trust that the universe will bring you what you need.
On the green terrace,
Acknowledge your spiritual guide.
Say goodbye again,
Knowing that they will be available for you whenever you need them.
On the yellow terrace,
Remember the feeling of new possibilities,
The excitement and energy of springtime.
On the orange terrace,
See the orange box in the corner where you left things that no longer serve you.
You may reclaim anything that you think you need on your journey,
But remember here the power of forgiveness and release.
On the red terrace,
Feel again the excitement of your journey and carry this excitement and pulsing energy with you as you leave the mountain.
You are relaxed and energized,
Knowing that you can return to the mountain anytime that you want.
Now,
Come back to the room that you are sitting in and keeping your eyes closed,
Feel your feet on the ground and your body in the chair and take three deep breaths in and out.
Now,
Go ahead and open your eyes and come back to the room.
Take five minutes to journal about anything you want to remember from your journey.
Namaste.
Namaste.
