Today's meditation is about acknowledging and facing difficult emotions,
Acknowledging and facing anger,
Anxiety,
Fear,
And worry.
These are all really challenging emotions,
But emotions are not us.
Our thoughts and feelings are not us.
But if we can allow our emotions to pass through us,
Then we can release them and let them go.
And after we can work through these challenging emotions,
Let them pass through our being.
Then we can invite a different energy into our being,
Into our field,
An energy that's more optimistic,
Grounded,
More loving,
More peaceful.
So with this practice,
I really want to give you permission to feel whatever it is you're feeling.
Maybe you're in a great mood today.
Maybe you're not in a good mood.
Maybe you're neutral,
Somewhere in between.
Maybe something has happened in your life recently,
That's upsetting.
Whatever it is,
Remember that life isn't happening to us.
It's happening for us.
And it's happening all the time.
No matter what,
Life just keeps on going,
Moving,
And flowing.
And that's what we're here to practice.
With that,
Let's start our practice in a comfortable seat.
Sitting down,
Easy pose with the legs crossed or any way that's comfortable for you.
You can sit in a chair with your feet on the ground,
Or even do this practice lying down.
Wherever you are,
Make sure your spine is nice and long.
Relax your shoulders.
Relax your jaw,
The muscles in your face,
And flutter your eyes closed.
Notice the space between your eyelids,
And relax a little bit deeper.
Now let's take three deep cleansing breaths together.
Inhale through the nose.
Open mouth,
Exhale,
Let it go.
Inhale fully.
Exhale out.
Last one.
Inhale fully.
Exhale,
Letting go.
Beautiful.
Relax your arms.
Rest your hands on your knees or thighs.
Or perhaps place one hand on the heart,
One hand on the belly.
Feeling the breath as it moves in and out of your body.
As you breathe,
Begin to scan down your body from head to toe,
Just noticing if there is an underlying emotion.
Move through different parts of the body,
Through different muscle groups.
Maybe notice where there's space and ease,
And where there's tightness,
Contraction,
Stiffness.
And notice if there are any emotions associated with that physical sensation.
In your mind's eye,
Visualize a volcano,
Any volcano that comes to mind.
Maybe you have a favorite,
Can even be imaginary.
See it clearly in your mind's eye.
And as you look and observe,
As you look at and observe your volcano,
Begin to notice more details.
What is the weather?
Is there sun?
Is there rain?
Is your volcano dormant?
Is it erupting,
Grumbling?
Maybe about to erupt?
Notice the temperature,
The colors,
The light.
Now begin to imagine that your volcano is erupting.
Notice the lava as it pours down the mountain.
Feel the heat,
The fire,
The destruction.
Feel that raw,
Fiery,
Intense energy,
Death and rebirth.
As you imagine this erupting volcano,
Bring your awareness back to your body.
Feel every muscle in your body.
Feel every tendon,
Ligament,
Your vascular system,
Fresh blood coursing through your body.
Now imagine that blood turning into lava.
You are the volcano erupting,
And this hot lava is moving through your body,
Through your system.
How does this feel?
Keep breathing in through the nose,
Out through the mouth.
As the lava moves through your body,
Do you feel any pain?
Maybe you feel pain leaving you,
Washing away anything that no longer serves you,
Burning up and washing away your anxieties,
Your worry,
Your anger,
Resentment.
Watch these emotions flow like lava through your body.
Take another inhale,
Open mouth,
Exhale out.
As you continue to breathe,
Watch all of that negative energy,
Anything that was holding you back,
Leave your body.
Watch it flow out of your system.
On your next inhale,
Breathe in cool,
Fresh air,
New life.
Your body begins to move and move and move.
New life.
Your body begins to cool.
After this purge and release,
Death and rebirth,
You're feeling more clear,
More grounded,
More spacious,
More open than you were before.
Nothing is stagnant in life.
We're always growing and changing.
We're born and we die.
Throughout our lives,
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
We're born and we die.
As you exhale,
Open your body.
Take one more deep breath in and deep breath out.
When you're ready,
Make your way into a comfortable seat if you're not already there.
And with your eyes still closed,
Place one hand on your heart,
One hand on the ground,
Connecting to yourself,
Your truth,
Always keeping you grounded and supported.
When you're ready,
Blink open your eyes and come back.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
Sending you all my love.
Have a beautiful rest of your day.
