Welcome,
Friends.
My name is Grace Simmons.
And I am honored you're here today.
Let us close our eyes.
With relaxed eyelids,
And take a deep,
Cleansing breath in… and let it go.
And again,
But this time breathe in for 4 counts.
And release.
Pushing all the air out.
Today,
We are going to talk about something many of us struggle with.
Forgiving ourselves.
You may have forgiven others who hurt you.
You may believe God has forgiven you.
But have you forgiven yourself?
1 John 1 9 promises us,
If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
All unrighteousness,
Not some.
If God has forgiven you.
Who are you to withhold forgiveness from yourself?
Bring to mind something you have been holding against yourself.
A mistake.
A choice that you regret.
Now hear this.
God doesn't want you to live in shame.
He wants you to live in freedom.
Listen to these truths.
I forgive myself for not knowing.
What I didn't know.
I forgive myself for being human and making mistakes.
I release the guilt I've been carrying.
It no longer serves me.
I am not defined by my worst moments.
God's mercy is new,
Every morning,
And I receive it today.
I choose compassion over self-condemnation.
Romans 8 tells us.
There is now no condemnation.
For those who are in Christ Jesus.
If God isn't holding it against you,
Why are you?
Imagine yourself standing before Jesus.
He looks at you with eyes full of love,
Not judgment.
He says.
I've already paid for that.
You are free.
Let it go.
Can you receive that?
Can you let yourself off the hook?
Repeat this after me.
I am forgiven.
I am free.
I am moving forward.
I will not let my past steal my present.
I will choose to see myself the way God sees me,
Redeemed,
Restored,
Renamed.
Take another deep breath in.
And as you exhale,
Release the weight of guilt.
You are forgiven.
Fully.
Completely.
Forever.
I forgive myself.
I extend to myself the grace God has already given me.
When you're ready.
Open your eyes,
And walk in the freedom you have been given.
My name is Grace Simmons.
Thank you for joining me in today's practice.
Take care.
And be well.
