Welcome to Life Lessons and Laughter with your host,
Glenn Ambrose.
Hello,
Everybody.
Welcome to the show.
And with with no ado whatsoever.
I bring Aubrey Kennedy on.
Hi.
Hey,
Welcome.
And what's your what's your cat's name?
This is Gizmo.
Gizmo.
Yeah,
Like the gremlins.
The ones you don't see at midnight.
That's got to be that's got to be like in the top of the names list.
For sure.
You know,
It's got to be right up there in the top.
There wasn't much thought into it.
But I'm going to be honest.
Everybody I know,
Like growing up in Massachusetts and living in Rhode Island,
Most people I know have had a dog,
Cat or child named Brady.
Wow.
I will listen.
Like it's been he's been,
You know,
The head of the Tom Brady that,
You know,
For the last 20,
25 years,
Like so it's like over the years,
Like you start seeing people name their kids Brady,
Their dogs,
Brady,
Their cats,
Brady,
Their squirrels,
Brady.
That would be a really interesting poll,
Actually.
I would love to find out how many kids were named Brady first name Brady in New England in the last 20 years.
And compared to before.
Middle names too.
Middle names.
We probably couldn't keep track of the animal names,
But no,
No,
But the kids names with there's got to be a way,
You know,
So yeah,
We reach a lot of people sometimes.
So if you're a statistician,
Please find that out and report back to me immediately.
Thank you.
That'll work.
Probably not.
So today we are talking about life transitions,
Working towards goals.
So,
So like this kind of came to me a while ago.
I don't know if I've said it before,
But but like I noticed the mentality about how to work towards goals wasn't real clear.
Like I was noticing a disconnect there.
So like what I was seeing with the disconnect was that like people would keep themselves stuck because of particular mindsets.
And one of the particular mindsets that I saw was that and all it is is a shift of perspective is that some people are afraid to do something because it's going to take them away from what they want to do.
You know,
Like they,
You know,
Or it's scary or it might not work out or all this stuff.
And it's like to so,
You know,
We're talking about before like squashing those fears and looking at things differently.
Like it's if something will pull you away from your goals,
You don't.
And this is how people have lived for many years,
You know,
Especially like the last couple of generations where the urge to live a fulfilled life is getting stronger and stronger in us.
So it's more and more difficult for people to work jobs that they hate for longer and for lifetimes.
Now,
You know,
Many people are changing careers halfway through.
Younger generations are going into things that they enjoy more and more because they're actually understanding that that's important.
And you can make good money doing just about anything.
And if you love it,
That's what's really going to give you the bucks.
You know,
So so it's where we're right in there and look looking at the the mindset when I would talk to people.
It's like you have to look at whatever you're doing,
Whatever step you take as a stepping stone towards your goal.
If you view it like that,
Then you're always moving towards your goal and eventually you're going to get there.
A lot of times what keeps people stuck is it's a detour from their goal.
Well,
I can't you know,
If they if they look at a job like oh,
Like most people,
We're still in a place where a lot of times people have to do jobs that they don't particularly like.
And if you view it as a life sentence,
It's a nightmare,
You know,
And and if you if you act like you're stuck in it,
And it's a detour away from your goals than it is.
But it's a very simple shift of perspective to make it not that.
You know,
It's a stepping stone.
Can you give an example?
Yeah,
Like,
Like,
If you like anything,
Like most people that don't like their job,
The reason they don't like their job is because they have a perspective that the job is using them.
They feel like a victim of their job.
Oh,
I have to go to this job that I hate.
Oh,
I hate this.
Oh,
My boss is a jerk.
Oh,
They do things wrong.
They should do them differently.
They're a victim of their job.
This is why they dislike it.
You know,
But so this is kind of where I stumbled across this with having,
You know,
Diving into that area.
And I started teaching people that like,
Use your job.
Don't let your job use you.
So if you're at a job that you don't like,
Like you're choosing to go to that job that you don't like.
So one,
You shouldn't be a victim of it just because of that.
But like to get to really shift it into working for you,
Instead of you being a victim of it,
Then you can shift that mindset and say like,
No,
I'm,
I'm consciously choosing to go to this job because it's keeping a roof over my head and food in my mouth.
While I work towards my goal.
It's serving a purpose.
It's,
It's actually literally helping me get towards my goal.
Yeah,
Because if I don't eat,
Then I'm not going to reach my goal because I'm going to be dead.
So this is actually helping me reach my goal.
It's putting food in my belly,
You know,
My goal,
But I have to do this that will help me reach my goal.
Yeah,
It's just it's,
It's maintaining my physical necessities while I work towards my actual goal.
You know,
So now all of a sudden you're you,
You're not a victim of your job,
You're using that job to help you reach your goal.
Yes.
So it's part of the process.
Yeah.
And it's only temporary too,
Because eventually you're going to be at your goal.
So that's why it's a stepping stone.
It's a stepping stone towards your goal,
As opposed to a detour away from your goal.
Now,
How,
How can if people feel undecided about their goals,
Right?
Like how do you get clear on what you want your goal to be?
Yeah,
A lot of that is a lot of a lot of that,
Believe it or not,
Really is energy.
Yeah.
Like we have to shift our energy.
It's it's,
You know,
It's just like the I mean,
Really,
If you if you like,
Listen to almost any conversation with somebody that doesn't know what they want to do.
And it's the energy is always the same.
I don't know what I want to do.
Oh,
I wish I knew what I wanted to do.
You know,
It's it's always that energy.
Oh,
Must be nice.
If you know what you want to do.
I don't even know what I want to do.
You know,
It's I have no idea what I want to do.
It's this thing that they want,
But they can't reach.
And they can't have it.
And what that like,
So you know,
This is as I said,
Explaining it,
I'm dropping into the energy of it.
And it's constricting.
Like I can feel my eyebrows coming down and going,
I just feel it in my chest,
Honestly.
Yeah,
I want it.
And I just yeah,
That is that's constriction.
Right?
Angst and closed off and the right tightness and tight.
Yeah.
And all of you know,
Everything in this world is yang and yang.
There's always two versions of everything.
So there's either constriction or flow.
And when you're when you're efforting real hard and trying real hard,
You tighten and you constrict and it restricts flow.
So you don't you could be staring at what you want and not see it.
And if you're you're into that negative defeatist attitude,
And you know,
You're like,
Oh,
Well,
You know,
Yeah,
I loved painting when I was a kid.
But I mean,
You obviously can't make a job,
You know,
Living as a painter.
So that's ridiculous.
Whoa,
Whoa,
Whoa,
Wait a minute.
Wait a minute.
Like,
Have you heard of it?
Have you heard of Etsy?
Like,
You know that you can paint,
Like pour resin on old CDs,
And then put some cork on the bottom and make coasters?
Yeah.
And did you know that you like,
All businesses,
Small communities,
Small businesses,
This is what we're going back to because that's what works.
We need one another.
What you know,
All of society is going back to smaller communities,
You know,
We'll see this more and more over the next 10 years.
But it's that's the direction that we're going.
And small businesses.
I mean,
It's it's never been easier to open up a small business.
You can open up an online business and just supplement your income doing what you love for like nothing.
There's YouTube videos to teach you how to do absolutely anything.
Yeah,
It's endless.
Yeah,
You can do it.
So there are ways that you could actually paint and make a living and not have your you know,
1970s or 80s conversation that took place between you and your parents going you know,
When you were 17 going,
You can't be a painter.
What are you?
How are you going to make a living?
Right?
Have to be an accountant.
You know,
So like you can,
You know,
You have to break away from that,
That limiting thinking that that was laid down and lean into this,
This type of stuff.
You know,
There's ways to accomplish things.
So so to get back to the question,
It's the energy we need to get out of that constrictive and tight conditioned responses,
Closed minded thinking break away,
Release that and loosen the F up.
Loosen up,
Relax.
That's how the flow comes in.
You know,
Who sings that song?
Who sings that song?
I can't think of it.
I'll stop thinking about it and it'll come to me.
Right?
Everybody knows this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's because that it's tightness,
Constriction,
Constriction.
Who sings that?
If you try to remember real hard,
You can't because it constricts it tightens.
And then all of a sudden I'll stop thinking about it and it'll come to me.
I stopped thinking about it.
I open up the flow,
It drops right in.
It's insane.
Every time.
So that everybody this is this is what makes me laugh is everybody knows these spiritual laws.
They implement them in their lives in different ways.
They just don't know what they're doing.
They're just not aware that that's what it is.
Yeah,
Yeah,
It really is.
It's all people notice.
Oh,
I had like a good stretch for a little bit,
But they're not conscious as to why that happened.
Right.
And that's one of my good luck for a bit.
Yeah,
That's one of my favorite things is success.
You know,
When when stuff's going right,
Hit the brakes,
Man,
Look around,
Pay attention,
Find out why they're going right,
Because it's a really good roadmap to get back there once you fall off.
Yeah,
You know,
It works.
We take notes with what doesn't a lot of the time.
Now say so someone had a goal,
What would say they someone had a goal to open a yoga studio?
Just like say,
What?
What would be like if someone came to you with a plan like that?
To make it manageable,
So it doesn't feel like this big abyss of like stress,
And I don't even know where to begin.
How does someone begin to start?
Oh,
Yeah,
Audio cut out for a second.
It's back now though.
You're back.
Um,
But yeah.
So So yeah,
If somebody hear me,
I can hear you.
Can you hear me?
Yeah,
I can.
You can hear me.
Yeah,
I can't hear you.
Oh,
So maybe I didn't touch anything.
So I bet you it's the the internet.
What is going on here?
That's weird.
How about now?
Can you hear me?
I can hear you now.
Yeah.
I don't know what just happened.
Everything's fine.
All right.
Everything's cool.
So yeah,
So yeah,
Like,
I mean,
You know,
So I'll just kind of finish up the last one real quick.
So like,
Relax,
Be playful when you're looking for what you might want to do,
You know,
Like just and write down ideas that that like,
You don't even think are plausible.
It doesn't matter.
Just write them down.
Just be like,
I'm just playing with ideas doesn't matter.
It's playful energy,
Joyful energy.
It's like a scavenger hunt,
Excited,
Joyful energy,
Not,
You know,
Not a scavenger hunt,
Like I have to beat Bob,
You know,
A relaxed,
You know,
Enjoyable,
This,
This will be fun.
I'm playing around with ideas on what I want to do with my life.
That's,
That's fun.
Just entertaining the possibility.
Yeah,
Whatever light hearted and just go with whatever captures your attention or sounds cool.
And you can just make lists.
And then on your list,
One of them is yoga studio,
And you want to look into that.
So so you look into the yoga studio,
You know,
The first thing is gathering information,
Lightheartedly,
You know,
Just gather gather information and like,
Goals.
Here's the catch 22 goals are okay,
But we hyper focus on them.
So like,
It's okay to have goals sometimes.
But like,
If it shifts your energy from relaxed and flowing into constriction and achieving,
Then they're going to do more harm than good.
You know,
Like,
When I wrote my book,
I was it that's a very creative flow oriented thing.
So when I,
When I ran into problems writing my book,
It was because I was constricting.
And I was still able to,
I'm still able to,
Like I kind of disconnect from myself.
You know,
When I when I'm talking or when I'm writing whatever,
So I could get in the flow there.
So what,
So the way it manifested was problems with the editor,
The book cover,
Stuff like this,
It started blocking me.
Yeah.
And I noticed that I was,
I had set the goal that I was going to publish a book in 2019.
I think it was.
And it was getting close to the end of 2019.
And my unconsciously,
I started tightening to try to reach that goal.
So I went in,
I recognized that I was doing it,
I released,
Everything was fine.
I had another problem.
And I went,
Did I not go all the way?
I went in deeper.
Sure enough,
There was some more tight and I had told myself,
This is something that that probably a lot of people should be aware of,
Because we all most people do it at one time or another.
That always go deeper.
You know,
Because a lot of times that's the problem.
We try to manipulate the universe unconsciously more than we think we do.
So I'm like,
Oh,
I'm constricting I am spiritual Glenn,
I know how to do this.
I'll just go in and let go of the attachment to the goal.
And I go in and I let go of the attachment to the goal.
Now I'm everything's hunky dory,
And I'm fine.
No,
Because subconsciously,
What I was doing was I was,
I was trying I was pretending to let go of the goal.
So that the editor would the editing problem would work work itself out.
I was trying to manipulate.
I was trying to go Oh,
I'll just do this spiritual thing so I can get what I want.
And the universe reads energy,
And it can't be manipulated.
So it was like,
Yeah,
Glenn,
Nice try.
We Yeah,
Not getting.
So then I had to go deeper and really release the attachment to the goal.
And once I did that,
Everything just smoothed right out and went fine.
Like,
The outcome is that what you mean by the goal like the outcome of the situation?
Yeah,
I really I had to I had to deeply and energetically purge any any energy attached to achieving that goal,
And completely take my hands off it.
And I had to make complete peace complete,
Not half,
Not three quarters,
Complete peace with the idea of this book being published in 2020,
Or 2021.
Yeah,
Complete peace.
Then everything fell into alignment,
Because then I wasn't trying to control an outcome.
Right.
You know,
So it's all about staying in the right energy.
You know,
I think that that's the theme as you as we go through this,
Because as soon as we latch on to a goal or latch on to an idea,
Or put pressure on ourselves to even come up with the idea,
It's constrict,
Constrict,
Constrict.
You know,
We have to be free and open the universe doesn't give a crap who opens a business.
It gives a crap who is open and growing and non attached to an outcome.
Because that's what's going to bring you ultimate happiness.
And that's what the universe wants for you is ultimate happiness.
So it doesn't give a crap whether you open up a business or not.
It gives a crap whether you're opening or not.
So if you pay attention to the to the eternal principles,
Like open,
Allow peace,
Love,
If those are your energy while you're walking towards stuff,
Then you'll,
Then you'll go and accomplish it.
And it'll be an expression of open,
Loving energy.
Right,
Received in the in the way that you're trying to write,
Right.
But if you're attached to an outcome,
And you're trying to use the attachment,
The the accomplishment of that outcome to bring you peace,
Or happiness,
The universe can't support you in that it can't allow it to work out because then you might think that that's the way to do stuff.
So it has to block you.
It has to be like,
Well,
No,
You know,
It's not punishment.
People think it's punishment.
It's like,
No,
They can't reward negative behavior.
If you're doing things that are out of alignment with the way the universe works.
If you're doing things out of the energy of constriction,
Instead of flow,
Out of tightness,
Instead of love,
Like it can't be like,
Oh,
Let's give them everything they want.
It's a natural consequence.
Because they'll be like,
Oh,
Well,
Yeah,
When I tighten and constrict,
Everything works out for me.
So I should tighten and constrict more.
So this is why the energy in which we do stuff is so important.
So okay,
So if someone has a goal,
Right,
I got all that just trying to stay.
So if you can wrap your brain around the steps that it takes to reach your goal,
Do you think that it's something you need to practice every day,
Like consciously working towards your goal?
You know,
Like a checklist type of thing?
Or is just simply staying in that mindset shift where you're not overly attached to the outcome?
Yeah,
You Is it more like a like a daily practice where it's like,
I'm gonna,
I'm gonna commit X amount of time to my goal this week,
Or in the next few days,
Or whatever the case is?
Or is it really just more so focusing on how your experiences?
That makes sense?
You gotta Yeah,
You just,
It's,
It's both.
I mean,
Your energy,
You have to constantly monitor your energy.
Like every time before I wrote,
Or before I did anything,
I would stop and check my energy.
Am I just trying to do this because I'm supposed to?
Or am I in a love vibration?
You know,
So like,
You can,
You can monitor your energy that way,
Every time you you're about to do something for it.
But yeah,
This is where we need to bring in some structure.
Because we're just not that disciplined a species.
Yeah,
We need you'll,
You know,
If you have no structure,
You'll float around pretending you're doing stuff.
This This is why this is what one of my favorite examples of this is creating a logo,
Creating business cards and creating websites,
People will spend three months,
Six months a year on these things,
Because they are beautiful rabbit holes to drop into.
And we act like they're so important.
Like nobody gives a crap that there's a little compass down at the bottom of this page right here.
And I use that as my logo.
Nobody gives a crap.
No,
Maybe a couple people saw it and they go,
Oh,
Compass kind of guiding you through your way of life.
Neat way to go,
Glenn.
And then they forget about it.
And that's if they actually happen to notice and even knew it was a frickin compass in the first place.
Right,
Right.
Yeah.
It's things that we can it's distractions.
Right.
For our energy into to avoid what though,
You know,
Actually doing something that might have a consequence,
You know,
Like it might work out and might not work out.
What if it doesn't?
Oh,
My God,
There's fear there.
I see.
So to distract ourselves from now,
We just keep ourselves busy with something shiny.
It's like procrastinating.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I see this with most people like God knows I did it.
I mean,
The amount of time that I've spent on business cards,
You know,
Like,
I mean,
50.
I think 15 years ago,
I was trying to start like a group exercise business or something.
And I think I spent like four to six months on a business card.
And I thought I was a genius because I figured out that like,
When I when I finally made the shift from a business card with black lettering to having a darker business card,
Like maybe green or a blue darker one with white lettering that popped off.
Oh,
My God,
I'm definitely gonna make a million now because of this revelation.
On how my business is going to go.
So it needs to be done,
Right?
Yes,
It has to be done.
Right.
This is fences.
Yeah,
Just full.
This is the first impression of my business.
Yeah,
That's Yeah.
It is so so like,
It's Yeah,
We all the time and resources that could be dumped into like,
It's just funny.
Yeah,
It is.
It's comical.
And I've wasted tons of time.
And then now like I did the new logo for Glenn Ambrose Academy.
And I mean,
I did that in a couple days.
You know,
I had an idea.
I asked a few people and then I don't really like it.
Oh,
How about this?
Oh,
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
And then like,
I played around for a couple hours,
Like for like two or three days.
And then I got an idea that I was like,
Yeah,
I think I think I want this had somebody on Fiverr make it to like 25 bucks and,
And popped it up and in one day.
Perfect.
You know,
Went back and forth with them.
I'll change this add this what about the and within one day,
I was like,
This logo is either going to be done in like,
You know,
Three or four days,
Max.
Or I'm just taking the closest thing and I'm going on with the rest of my thing.
And I'll change the logo later if I don't like it.
But I didn't allow it to pigeonhole me and keep me stuck.
You know,
The project's more important than the logo.
Yeah,
Yeah.
And I think I a lot of the time I refer to that in between the indecisiveness.
You know,
I refer to it as like purgatory.
Because that's what it feels like.
And so it's,
Maybe it's not the most perfect thing.
But you're like,
You know what,
It looks good.
I'm just gonna go with it.
And it takes you out of that purgatory and puts you into action and decisiveness.
We continue to propel moving forward.
That's it.
So and I think it's a good idea.
Like,
This is where we need structure.
Like,
There isn't one right way to do it.
But you need to grab like,
If if anybody doesn't have an electronic calendar,
Get one.
Yeah,
This is almost this is almost like meditating to me in life.
Like every once in a while,
Somebody will forget something,
An appointment with me or something.
And this has been like,
I've dealt with that my whole life.
I was a personal trainer than a life coach.
So I've dealt with it my whole life.
It happens very rarely nowadays,
Which is wonderful.
But every time for the last 35 years,
That somebody forgot something,
They beat themselves up,
They go,
I can't believe I forgot.
I'm like,
I can't believe you thought you'd remember no calendar.
You don't have a calendar.
And you thought you were just gonna walk through life and remember your groceries,
When to pick up your kids,
Like your job projects,
Your business that you're trying to create on the side,
Your appointments with me,
The doctor's appointment,
The dentist support,
Like,
You expect your brain to remember all of this and not get distracted by anything in life and forget something.
Yeah,
Like,
It's just,
And everybody goes,
Oh,
I'm getting old.
Like,
And I used to see my son,
Matteo do it when he was like 12.
And he'd be like,
Oh,
My memory stinks,
Man.
I can't remember things.
I'm like,
Dude,
You're 12.
It's a human,
It's just human.
We can't remember everything.
Some days are better than others.
There's nothing wrong with you.
You don't have concussion syndrome.
You're not getting old at 12.
You don't like,
You don't have Alzheimer's like this.
You know,
It's right.
It's literally impossible to remember.
So get a calendar and schedule when you're going,
You know,
Some people can like,
I think I was a good example.
Like,
When my son was young,
Like before he moved in with me,
He was with me four days a week.
And Friday night was the only night he slept over.
So I think it was like,
Monday,
Tuesday,
Friday,
Saturday,
Let's say so.
So it's like Wednesday and Thursday,
I didn't have them.
So Wednesday and Thursday afternoons was when I did stuff because when I was with him,
I like to focus on him.
So Wednesday and Thursday was when groceries got done.
I paid bills.
And like when I would spend a lot of time working on my side business,
Because I was always working a full time job.
So I'd work on my side business,
But I could do it on Wednesday and Thursdays,
Maybe a little bit after I dropped them off on Monday and Thursday,
Or whatever days I said,
You know,
Maybe a half an hour or 45 minutes on those nights or whatever.
And then maybe some on Sunday,
While I was watching a football game because he was at his mom's like,
You know,
But what I did is I looked at my life.
And I put it on my calendar.
You know,
It's actually there as something that needs to get accomplished.
Yeah.
So So then it's,
You know,
So then I did it then.
Yeah.
And I mean,
I was jazzed up,
Like,
You know,
Working towards my goal like that,
You know,
That's the other thing.
Don't make it a chore,
Man,
Pay attention to your energy.
Like,
You know,
People like working towards their goal.
And they're like,
Oh,
Well,
It's really hard.
And I have to,
I'm really busy.
You know,
This is tough.
It's not easy being me.
It's like,
Yeah,
That's wonderful energy to put towards your dream.
Like,
You know,
Like,
Sounds like you love it.
Allow the enthusiasm to come up,
You know,
Like enthusiasm is is what is it Greek,
I think,
For in Theos,
Which means in God.
So that's where the term enthusiasm comes,
You know,
When we're in alignment with God.
Yeah,
That's that's the original meaning of that word.
So like,
This is we should allow we should allow that enthusiasm to come up because we're,
We're changing our lives.
This is what it looks like to change our lives.
You know,
That's what we have to remember.
Like one time I was I was going from a job to another job,
I think.
And I stopped to open up a business account many years ago,
I think it was that same business I was just talking about.
And I went to open up a business account,
And I started getting stressed.
Oh,
My God,
I just was working over here.
And now I only got an hour and a half.
And I have to stop at the bank and see if I can get this account business account opened up and then get to this other job by this time.
And I was starting to feel sorry for myself,
You know.
And I went,
Whoa,
Whoa,
Whoa,
That energy felt wrong.
And I was like,
Well,
Wait a minute,
Like,
What are you trying to be?
An entrepreneur?
Okay,
So if you if there was an entrepreneur that was a single parent,
And they worked a job,
And then they had to get to another job and add an hour and a half break,
But they needed to open up a bank account,
Do you think maybe this said entrepreneur might try to squeeze in and open up a bank account real quick?
To accomplish that when he had an hour and a half?
Be like,
Yeah,
I could that would make sense for somebody else to do.
You know that?
Yeah,
Some some imaginary entrepreneur Yeah,
I could see them doing that in a process to complete their goal.
Okay,
Well,
Then it's reasonable.
And that's all you're doing.
So once you just relax,
And just go do that,
Because this is what entrepreneurs do.
Yeah,
I like that a lot.
Actually,
I like that a lot.
It just kind of it reminds me of like,
Choose like you want to be you know,
An entrepreneur,
Like you want to have your own business and do that.
I like the idea of thinking of an entrepreneur as a third person.
And what would that person what would a successful entrepreneur,
What steps would they take?
Or just like,
Even even so simple,
Like every day,
Okay,
Like someone that's a successful entrepreneur,
They wake up,
What's the first thing they do?
You know,
And choosing your stepping stones maybe that way.
So you can live into that energy.
Absolutely.
You know,
And you become I guess you kind of become that as a secondary because you're you're living through the action of it.
Exactly.
And it changes your vibration,
And you literally start vibrating as one who is creating a business.
Because you're taking physical action in that intention.
You know,
So that and you can do that with anything,
You know,
Like,
Like each step,
You can do that.
Like,
It's a great way to overcome fear to like with the with the difference,
Well,
Any fear,
But but like the the steps that you need to take to start a business like I did it when when,
When I,
Everything I've done,
I've done this,
Because like everything I've done,
It's the first time that I did it.
Right,
Just like everybody else.
So there's always fear there.
So like writing the book,
Or,
You know,
Starting my business,
Or whatever I've done,
It's always been like that.
There's always the beginning is always the same.
It's like,
I don't know what I'm doing.
Why do I think I can do this?
Yeah,
You know,
Like what?
Why could I?
So I always go to the same place I go back,
I go back and I go like,
You know,
We'll use the book writer for for an example.
What did a successful author,
Like there's tons of successful authors all throughout history.
Every one of them has been sitting exactly where I'm sitting right now.
They hadn't written a book yet.
And they don't know how to start.
They don't know how to write a book.
And so I'm in the exact same place is the most successful writers on the history of the planet.
Yeah,
That's,
That's a cool perspective.
So what did they do?
Because there's some people that succeeded in writing,
And there's some people that failed at writing.
So what did the failures do?
Well,
They stayed here and they said,
Okay,
I don't know what to do.
And then they just didn't do anything.
It's not doesn't take rocket scientists to figure that out.
And then what did the successful ones,
They stood in this fear,
And even though they didn't know what they were doing,
They did it anyway.
Okay,
I'm gonna do that.
You know,
It's the old rule,
If you want what somebody has do what they do.
Yeah,
Find someone that did it and figure out what steps they took.
Right?
So you just go,
Okay,
What did every successful author do when they were sitting there before they had written a book?
And they were like,
Oh,
My God,
I don't know what I'm doing.
This is so overwhelming.
I don't know where to begin.
Well,
They did it anyway.
Okay,
Well,
I'll do it anyway.
You know?
Yeah,
It's simple.
But that's literally how I you know,
I just put myself in that seat.
And then,
And then if we can't do something,
It's always because it's too big.
Overwhelm is huge.
Yeah,
No.
So we people get too busy determining the appropriate size of what they should be able to do and what they shouldn't be able to do,
Instead of just cutting it smaller.
So,
So what they do is they go,
Well,
I don't know how to write a book.
So I can't.
Well,
That that's because it's too big.
It's gigantic.
Yeah,
It's too much.
It's too much.
Well,
I,
I mean,
And sometimes some people will just stop there,
They'll just be like,
Well,
I should know how to write a book and I don't so therefore I'm done.
Yeah,
You know,
And then some people go,
Okay,
Well,
I,
How am I supposed to know how to write a book?
So they go a little smaller and they go,
Well,
I should know what my book is about.
And I don't even know that.
I should know what my book is about.
And I don't.
And then that's their block.
And then they don't do anything because they don't know what they're what they should be writing about.
So they don't.
So they're like,
So do you notice it's the I should know that's where the block is?
Yeah.
That's them judging the size of something.
It doesn't matter what you should or what you shouldn't know.
If you don't know it,
Just cut it smaller.
Yeah,
Don't think you should know something that you don't know.
Just keep cutting it smaller and smaller and small.
Okay,
Well,
I don't know what I'm going to write about.
I don't know how to write a book.
I don't know what I'm going to write about.
Okay,
What do I know?
Um,
I know.
I did some blogs.
I wrote some blog,
You wrote some blogs.
Yes.
Okay,
Maybe you could use those for some ideas for either your book,
Or maybe your chapters in a book or,
Or just I don't know,
Go look at those.
Right.
Okay.
So So now did I know that my blogs were going to give me as much as they did?
No,
I had no idea.
But I went to them because it was something that I could do.
Yeah.
So I just went to them.
And I was like,
I'll stare at these and see if anything comes out of them.
Oh,
This this one.
Well,
Let's try.
And I don't remember specifically,
But like,
To give an example,
I could have gone like,
Okay,
Well,
I talked about I talked about love.
I talked about forgiveness.
I talked about letting go of resentments.
So that's what my book is going to be about.
And it's all kind of love based energies.
So I'm going to write a book about love based energies.
Like that could have been an idea.
Yeah,
You know,
Yeah.
Like,
But that's not how it turned out.
You know,
I started going I'm like,
Oh,
Let's just take out a bunch of ones that I that seem to have some meat.
Foom,
Foom,
Foom.
Okay.
You know,
Just just by topics.
Okay,
I'll put a bunch of them.
All right,
Is there can there be some sort of a flow to this like kind of going from one thing to another?
I mean,
Because there's a lot because it's not about one energy.
It's about a bunch of different things.
Oh,
Well,
If it's about so would you say that it's about all different spiritual topics about the whole human experience,
Being a spiritual being?
Yeah,
I think it would be fair to say that.
Okay,
Then then if you're going to talk about all that,
With different topics,
Then you should probably explain spirituality first.
What you're even talking about.
You know,
And then Oh,
Okay,
So I'll put this blog here.
Now I'll put this blog here,
And here.
And then all of a sudden,
It starts taking shape.
And I still had no idea what I was doing.
And then I was working with my editor months later,
And there were getting towards the end and are like,
Man,
Your flow of this book is just I love the flow of this book.
How did you do that?
And I'm like,
Really,
You do?
I didn't even know.
I knew I wanted a flow.
I didn't know I actually achieved it.
Wow.
And they're like,
You,
You didn't know that you had done it.
And I was like,
No,
It was kind of back here that I should have and I kind of attempted it a little but I didn't know if that I ever actually achieved it.
And they're like,
Oh,
No,
There's a total flow to this.
Oh,
My gosh,
Sweet.
I was I was shocked.
Yeah.
It sounded great.
I just threw it together.
Yeah.
What happened?
You just do you do what you can,
You know where you are.
And that and that's enough.
Yeah,
No,
And you make sure you do a little bit consistently.
It's about everything is energy.
So we have if we want something in our lives,
We have to put energy towards it consistently.
So this is why we need spiritual disciplines.
This is why we should be meditating every day this,
You know,
Reading a little something every day or just do taking a moment,
Five seconds to be still every day,
Like anything that we do consistently.
Because we have to act like we actually want it.
You know,
Oh,
I wish I was peaceful.
Really?
What did you do today to to make yourself peaceful?
I yelled at the butcher.
Okay,
That doesn't count.
You know,
Acting for anything peaceful.
So how do you expect?
Yeah,
Right.
I can't still my mind.
Really?
What did you do today to still your mind?
Nothing?
Oh,
Well,
Then how did you expect to achieve it?
Like,
We don't have to do it perfectly.
Or we don't even necessarily have to succeed.
We just have to put energy in the direction of Yeah,
That's it consistently.
And it's like that with everything.
Meditation,
Peacefulness.
Starting a business,
Consistently put energy towards it,
Feed,
Feed.
And then sometimes we get excited and something goes right.
And ride that wave,
Man,
You know,
Put a little extra time into it when things are going right.
Maybe trim a little time off when things aren't going right.
It's just so you don't get so frustrated.
You know,
And then get up the next day and do it again.
Yeah,
Don't let don't let a stall become a block.
Now that happened when I was writing my book,
Like,
The first half of my book was mostly blogs with some additions to them.
And I thought I was like,
Don,
I was all excited until I put it in book format and found that I was only like halfway done.
And I went,
Oh,
Crap.
So I set aside a week to write as much as I could.
And I got up Monday and I wrote a ton.
And I was like,
Oh,
My God,
If I do this all week,
I could come close to finishing this book.
Oh,
Man.
So I wrote a ton,
But I wasn't attached to it.
I wrote I said I could maybe.
So then I wrote all day Tuesday,
And I wrote even more.
And I'm like,
Oh,
My God.
And I'm talking like eight,
Nine hours of writing.
Wednesday,
Wrote even more.
And I'm like,
Oh,
My God,
I could literally write half of my book in five days.
Maybe.
Maybe I'll have some to finish next week.
I can squeeze it in here and there.
No big deal.
Thursday,
I woke up nightmare,
Just a horrible day.
I couldn't focus.
I couldn't do anything.
It was just I don't even remember what was wrong.
I don't even remember if there was an actual thing or if it was just my mood or what.
But I couldn't break out of it.
I wrote nothing.
Friday,
I woke up and I said,
Okay,
Decision time because now all of a sudden the fear started owning me.
Because I missed the whole day.
Yeah,
I had set aside these five days and it's like,
That fear one to go you're a loser,
Glenn,
You like,
Why do you even bother?
Like,
Why you just you know,
Yeah,
It was a nice run for three days,
But you hit a wall.
You can't do this.
You know,
It wanted to and I just stopped and I went,
Okay,
What are you going to do?
You know,
Have other authors hit blocks or had a bad day?
Yeah,
I'm sure they did.
Well,
You got to at least try just try.
Yeah,
If it doesn't,
If it doesn't work out,
Then maybe you stop.
Yeah,
Maybe try a different day,
But you got to try.
So Friday,
I just tried and I didn't feel like it.
I didn't want to it was resistance,
But I just opened up and tried anyway,
And I dropped into the flow and wrote all day Friday.
And then Saturday,
I was like,
I'll just write like half a day and finish it next week.
I started writing Saturday dropped into another flow.
I finished it Saturday.
So I wrote half that book in five days.
That's amazing.
I had no plan of doing that.
I didn't know that I was going to do that.
I just set aside a week to just see what I could get done.
Yeah.
And then all of a sudden I dropped in I was writing eight,
Nine,
10 hours a day.
Yeah,
There was no constrictiveness to it or being forced to you allowed yourself to just have the space to see what's possible.
And if it was flowing and going then ride it man.
Yeah.
You know,
Like I mean,
Geez,
Catch that wave and ride that thing.
You know,
And if if not,
You know,
If I if I would have hit a block after four hours,
I would have stopped after four hours.
It's okay,
You know,
Because I'm not attached to the outcome.
Yeah,
Yeah.
Even when you didn't hit the block.
Yeah,
You were okay.
It wasn't like you let yourself the fears creep in,
But you didn't it sounds like you didn't allow yourself to get consumed by it.
Right.
And that's it.
You know,
It's the you know,
It's the old thing.
It's which this is really profound,
I think.
And most people have heard it.
You know,
It's not courage is not the absence of fear.
It's action in the face of fear.
You know,
Many people have heard that or a version thereof.
And it's like,
But when we really take it and put it into practical use in our daily lives,
That's where it really gets rich.
It's like,
You know,
Oh my god,
Like that.
That's a spiritual law,
Man.
Like this.
I can apply that to so many different situations.
Yeah.
You know,
It's like,
Yeah.
So I mean,
Yeah,
I experienced fear.
It's I'm not trying to experience life without fear,
Because I haven't figured out how to do that.
And I don't think you can fear is there.
I'm just not letting it own me or make my decisions for me.
That's right.
Right.
What is the difference is what you do when it creeps in?
Right.
And that's,
That's more important to me.
Like,
I don't,
I would rather live a life making mistakes and crashing without fear,
Controlling me,
Then be safe and have fear control me.
I agree with that.
Yeah.
Because it's not based,
The fear isn't really based in reality.
No,
It's just an illusion.
That's as soon as you as soon as you actually get on the other side of any fear,
If you look back and to see that fear,
It's,
It's not there.
It's,
It's gone.
It's just,
It was just an illusion the whole time.
Yeah.
Yeah,
It's all fear is,
Is absence of love.
It was just a little pocket where there was not enough self love.
So you know,
So you don't have to fight fear.
All you got to do is just bring some self love then.
And it just dissipates.
It's just gone.
Love that.
It ties into,
I was just thinking it ties into,
It really is like,
Just starving the negative and you're just feeding the positive.
That's it all ties into one another.
Right.
This is the beauty of spirituality.
You know,
It all overlaps.
It all ties in.
It's all the same thing at the end of the day.
Yeah.
Like,
You know,
There's just love and absence of love.
Yeah.
And absence of love is called fear.
So like,
You just,
If you feel fear,
Just bring love in,
You know,
And the fear will dissipate.
And if there's fear there,
Just,
You know,
In an over there,
Just walk over there,
You know,
Starve it,
Like just don't put any energy towards it.
We don't have to fight anything,
You know,
This is so,
So I think we'll probably like wrap up with this,
Like this,
This,
And it's the same in a microcosm as it is in the macrocosm.
That's how you know,
It's a spiritual law.
So it's like,
It's,
You know,
This is how you write a book.
This is how you write a blog.
This is how you start a business.
This is how you do anything you've never done before.
And it's also the way that we are going to change the world.
Like,
It's the same principle to write a book as it is to literally change the world.
Like we don't we're not going to win by fighting.
Just starve them.
We're sovereign beings,
They can't control us.
Don't worry about it.
Don't worry about the world falling apart and how ugly it looks.
Just start building the new based in love,
Build that,
Put your attention on building the new paradigm in which we are going to live out of.
Put your attention on chasing your dreams,
Your goals,
Your peace,
Your love,
Be more of that.
Just do that.
You don't have to fight zippy to pinhead doing stupid shit in your Congress.
Like what matters.
Yeah,
It's like just build a new paradigm.
Yeah.
And then pretty soon there'll be this new paradigm and everybody's they're going to be like,
Hey,
We have to control you.
You're going to be like,
Yeah,
I'm here in this community.
You may go.
Walk away over here.
Yeah,
But you got to buy stuff.
Consume.
We grow our own stuff over here and we have solar panels.
Tell me anything.
So yeah,
It's the same principle to do anything small as it is to change the entire world.
Just starve what you don't want and feed what you do.
Focus on bringing love and being in the love vibration,
Creating out of love and be accountable to yourself.
So it's yeah,
I think that's it.
The information just went.
That's a wrap.
Yeah,
Shut up.
All right,
Cool.
Yeah,
I'm just going to end it there because we are getting close to an hour anyway.
So cool.
So all right.
So that's it.
So for now.
Yeah.
Yeah,
That's it for now.
Keep your eyes open.
I might be announcing some some courses around this topic,
Life transitions and stuff,
But nothing is definite yet.
But maybe January of 2023.
We'll see.
But but yeah,
But just,
You know,
Don't let that fear hold you back and just lean in and and bring some structure into your life.
Be accountable.
To yourself,
To somebody else,
Some do something.
Do whatever you can do right where you are there.
All right.
Thank you,
Aubrey.
Thank you.
Thank you,
Everybody.
That'll go.
See you.
