Welcome to Life,
Lessons & Laughter with your host,
Glenn Ambrose.
Hey everybody.
Welcome to the show.
Welcome to the show.
So I just realized,
I don't know if I've realized this before,
But many years ago,
I was extremely.
Fearful of talking in public.
So much so that when I was drinking,
Like,
Like I was I was pretty fearless in a lot of ways.
Externally,
Of course,
And sometimes people would ask me,
Like,
Are you afraid of anything like?
Because I was pretty fearless,
And like I said,
A lot of ways.
And I would say,
No,
Man,
Nothing scares me except public speaking.
I used to say it back then.
And then when I woke up,
You know,
I got sober and I needed to get over that and work through it,
Which the universe was so happy to give me opportunities to do so.
And the rest is history.
But why the heck was I talking about that?
Oh,
Because I said welcome to the show.
And I and I know that I say that regularly.
What really helped me was I was.
Watching Eckhart Tolle and he said that he was about to give this big talk at the stadium and he was backstage and this announcement came over the loudspeaker that said the show starts in 10 minutes.
And all of a sudden he notices his palms getting sweaty.
And he was like,
Why are my palms getting sweaty?
You know,
Like totally.
In the present moment,
So I don't think he really experiences nerves very often.
So.
.
.
He he was trying to figure out why his palms were getting sweaty,
And he realized that a part of his mind believed the announcement that there was a show starting in 10 minutes.
So in his unconscious mind,
The a show implied a performance.
And a performance implies to make other people happy.
And that and he started feeling pressure on an unconscious level from that.
And that's why his palms were getting sweaty.
So then he just reminded himself,
He said,
Oh,
No,
There's no show.
It's just me.
I'm just going out talking.
Like,
I'm just.
Like talking authentically.
I'm just being myself.
I'm just going out there and be myself.
I don't have to put on a show.
I don't have to do it.
Pretend I'm something that I'm not.
There is no show.
It's just me being me.
And,
You know,
How could I be nervous about that?
That's the only thing I'm good at is just being myself.
So so,
You know,
And I'm paraphrasing,
Of course.
Um,
But like that really helped me.
So when I,
When I used to,
Before I spoke.
Um,
I used to remind myself of that.
Like I'm just being me,
Like,
You know,
As long as I'm me,
I can't screw that up.
So,
And some people are going to like it and some people aren't and that's fine.
I,
You know,
I understand I can't control that.
So I'm just going to go out and be me and it helped dramatically.
And now here I am all these years later,
And I'm kind of.
You know,
I mean,
I've done so many of these podcasts and it's not really like I'm in public.
Anyway,
But I'm using the term show now.
Which is kind of a.
.
.
I don't know,
A little full circle moment for me,
I guess.
So.
Yeah,
I have no idea why I told you guys that.
Perhaps it will help,
Perhaps it won't.
Perhaps it was me just taking a stroll down memory lane.
So,
Here we are,
And I want to talk to you about implementation because,
You know,
I try to.
.
.
Remind people to implement to the best of their abilities regularly.
And I think I even said it at the end of one of my podcasts recently,
Like implement it.
Don't just sit there and listen to these podcasts and then be like,
Oh,
Wow,
You know,
That was cool.
I enjoyed listening to Glenn.
I feel better.
And then go about your life the way you always have.
You know,
Like many years ago when I was devouring information,
Like I woke up.
In like three months.
And then it took me like two years almost to acclimate back into normal society and be able to have conversations other than just about spirituality.
And then I was devouring information.
I had already started almost in the beginning,
But it got really intense.
And I was just reading 20,
30 books.
When I wasn't,
I was listening to audios and watching videos and I was just devouring information.
And I remember one time I was,
Kinda.
Off,
You know,
I was in one of those periods of time where,
Where I was kind of off center.
And,
Uh,
I stopped by a friend,
My friend,
Grace's,
I think it was at her store in Rhode Island.
And I used to stop by and talk with her every once in a while.
And I said something like,
Yeah,
I've been off lately,
You know,
But I put in some Eckhart Tolle CDs in my car and it just that always centers me and brings me down.
And,
You know,
So I'm good.
And she was like,
Why do you do that?
Like,
You've been.
You get it.
Like why?
When are you going to soothe yourself instead of putting in a CD to soothe you?
And it was just that outside perspective,
Like,
Oh,
Wow,
I never really thought about it.
I was so caught up in taking in information and learning a new language and just immersed myself in information.
And she also told me,
I believe it was,
It could have been that same day.
I think it might've been a different day.
She said,
She was like,
You get it.
Like,
Actually I think it might've been the same day.
She was like,
You get it.
She's like,
I've known you for a while now.
Like you,
You,
You understand this stuff.
She's like,
It's,
It's time for you to stop leaning on other people and start.
You know,
Teaching.
And bringing this to other people,
You're capable of that now.
Why don't you do that?
And now I had been teaching in the 12 step.
Genre for I don't know how many years at that point,
Maybe like five years.
By that point,
Five or six years.
So,
I mean,
I was developing this way of way of communicating in this new language from all the information I was taking in.
I realized later that I had opened up to all the concepts.
So all that information I was taking in,
I wasn't really learning about spirituality.
What I was doing was learning a language,
A new vocabulary.
I was also learning how to take what I already knew conceptually and not only speak about it,
But implement it into daily life through what these other teachers were saying,
But I wasn't really acquiring new knowledge from them.
I had awakened to the knowledge.
Conceptually,
I had it within me,
But I needed to learn how to talk about it,
And I needed to learn how to express it to other people,
And I needed to learn how to implement it in my own life in a physical world,
Not just the conceptual thing,
Right?
Which brings us to this implementation.
We need to implement this stuff into our daily lives.
We're so conditioned that once we get something intellectually,
Then we learned it,
And then we know it.
In spirituality,
What happens is that's not enough,
Okay?
So understanding something intellectually does absolutely nothing,
Zero,
For your spirituality.
It doesn't do anything.
It can lead to something,
Maybe.
Someday,
Possibly,
Possibly not.
But it doesn't do anything.
And I think that this is one of the reasons why people are so addicted to information.
You know,
There's many reasons why people are addicted to information.
One is because it's everywhere.
We're in the information age.
It's just there's endless information.
If you're not conscious about what you were doing,
You are going to wake up five years or 10 years from now with a head full of information and you're going to be miserable or worse off than you are today because it's,
Because it's not about gathering information.
It doesn't do anything.
It's about implementing that information into your daily life.
It's about understanding the concepts of spirituality,
Which are eternal.
From a different realm,
From a different existence,
Vibration,
The eternal realm,
And bringing those concepts,
Bringing that energy,
Bringing in that way of interacting with life into this reality,
Into this temporal reality.
Reality here on Earth.
That's what it's all about.
You know,
Grasping the spiritual concepts and then literally living them.
Through your experience here on Earth.
So we need to implement to do that.
You know,
Nobody's going to,
You know,
People study for five years,
10 years,
20 years,
And they get extremely frustrated because they're putting in all this work and it's not doing anything.
And the universe is over there going,
What are you doing?
Like.
This,
It's not about you learning.
And this is when we see,
And I mean,
I've experienced some of this at certain times where I get upset because I'm like,
I'm doing everything I can.
If you were,
You'd be where you want to be.
You're doing everything that you can think of.
And it's not about thinking.
So.
That's your problem.
Right?
So it's about implementation.
Nobody's going to tell you,
Oh,
You graduated fourth grade.
Now you get to go to fifth grade.
Oh,
You learned everything that we wanted you to learn in fifth grade.
Now you get to sixth grade.
Now you get to graduate high school.
Now you get to graduate college.
Now you know enough where you can go out in the world and do a job based on the education that you've learned.
Nobody's going to do that for you.
And it's not how it works.
Even if there was somebody telling you that,
They'd be wrong.
So it's about taking the,
The,
The information,
Looking at it.
This is why I try to use a lot of real life examples.
I try to use a lot of practical stuff.
It's not,
I don't do that just because it's my style or,
Whatever.
I do it because That's.
That's where it is.
You know,
This is why I use a lot of examples out of my life.
It's to give you a real life example,
You know,
Look,
This is the spiritual concept.
This is how I implemented it into a real life situation.
And this is what happened.
Like,
I like doing that,
Not because I like everybody knowing about everything that I've experienced in my life,
But like,
I get no benefit out of that.
It doesn't matter.
Like,
So the reason I do it is to try to give a real life example of what this stuff looks like.
So you guys can actually take it and do it.
So I was thinking,
And I was like,
Well,
Maybe people don't know how to implement this stuff,
You know?
So I figured I'd do a podcast talking about implementation and trying to give you guys some ways of doing it.
You know,
Like I just did a podcast on Stop the Thinking Mind.
You know,
And a lot of that I was talking about being in your body.
So it's putting a portion of your consciousness into your body.
So it's not your energy isn't constantly feeding your thinking mind,
And you're more present and grounded in your body walking through life.
And it's,
You know,
Like so.
How do you do that?
You sit there.
You know,
It's.
It's funny talking about this because like whenever you Well,
It's funny talking about spirituality in general,
Because the words don't.
.
.
The words aren't it.
This is why in Buddhism they use the negative terms.
It's not this.
It's not this.
It's whatever's left over after we take away everything else.
But if you say it,
That's not it.
Because it can't be spoken.
Because it's not a thing.
It's not an object.
It's beyond objects.
It's the ethereal.
It's the formless.
So therefore it's not a thing,
It's no thing.
So how do you talk?
You know,
Language.
I was watching some Tole and I,
You know,
Tole talks about this a lot too.
He says that it's,
What did he say?
Like language has to have like a it has to have an object.
You said something else.
I'm not remembering it right now,
But it has to have an object.
Like that's,
That's the,
The,
The formula.
Of language,
The way that we communicate with one another and the way it goes into the other person's mind and we process the information is it has to have a subject like we have to be talking about something.
Which implies a thing,
Therefore an object is a thing.
And we're talking about the formless.
That doesn't have form,
So it's not a thing.
So it makes the language difficult to talk about.
And the closer you get to truth and the closer you get to spirituality,
You start seeing that it's difficult to find words because the words don't accurately describe it.
And you start coming to into overlap.
You start talking about one thing and it overlaps into something else,
Into something else,
Into something else.
And it's,
Yeah,
This is the joy of talking about spirituality.
So these,
My words are pointers,
Signposts towards something,
They're never actually it.
The other thing is you need to try to implement things even though you don't understand how you're going to implement them.
A lot of people stay stuck in their mind because they're like,
Well,
I can't figure out how to implement this.
It's like,
Good.
That probably means you have a decent understanding of it.
Because if you had a crappy understanding of it,
You'd probably be able to figure out a way how to implement it.
But if you have a decent way,
You can't figure out how to implement it because the implementation is not a thing.
It's not something your brain can wrap itself around.
We're dealing with the formless.
So you just have to lean in and attempt it.
You can't wait until you figure it out in your head.
Oh,
Okay.
So.
The process is this,
Like,
What was I talking about?
Feeling it in your body,
Like stopping the thinking mind and putting some attention on your body.
If you if you sit there for months going,
Okay,
I have to put my attention on my body.
What does Glenn mean by that?
And you try to come up with a way of saying that.
That accurately describes it and kind of gives you the directions to follow.
In order to accomplish it.
Then you're going to be off base.
You're going to do it wrong.
Why?
Because you can't do that.
With this.
You just have to try it.
You know,
And I learned this very early on.
I was,
You know,
It's one of the benefits of being a blank slate.
When you pop open,
Like everything's new and you know,
You don't know,
And you know,
Everything that you do know was based on your past and your past was a nightmare.
So you're not going to do it that way.
So you're a complete blank slate.
So this is how I was.
And this is how I learned how to implement things.
Not by trying to understand it intellectually,
But just attempting it,
Just trying to do it.
Without even knowing what I was trying to do,
But knowing like I didn't have.
My brain was actually pretty fried when I first woke up,
Like I was having trouble completing sentences and stuff.
I had been drinking and drugging for like two years straight intensely and then 20 years before that.
So like my brain was starting to dehydrate and have problems.
So like I didn't depend on my brain.
Because it wasn't functioning very well at that time.
So I would just attempt things even though I didn't know,
Even though I knew my brain hadn't wrapped itself around what it was.
I just felt,
I don't know,
Like everything I knew in my past wrecked my life.
So I'm not going to lean on that stuff.
And my brain's pretty fried now.
I don't understand a lot of things.
So the fact that I don't understand this,
Is kind of normal.
Because I don't understand anything.
I mean,
My brain started coming back pretty quickly,
But I wasn't dependent on it.
I wasn't unconsciously dependent on it.
So for me to lean into something without fully understanding it was I did that regularly.
Stopping the thinking mind.
Okay,
How do I put attention on my body?
Well,
This is,
You know,
I gave all the examples in,
In the podcast,
Like how I used to teach people how to do a curl,
But have a portion of their attention on it.
Like you can do,
You can you can just sit there and close your eyes and just be like,
How do I how do I know I have feet?
Okay.
How do I know that I have feet and your attention goes down to where your feet are?
And if you're still,
You can feel like energy down where your feet are.
You know,
It could be a little vibration.
It could be a little less sensation.
It's just something.
And that's your awareness is on your feet.
Now you can either.
Be like,
Okay,
Now how do I know that I have shins?
And work your way up,
Right?
And then at each step you can go,
Okay,
Okay,
Now my awareness is on my shins.
Instead of my feet,
Can I have my attention on both?
At the same time,
My feet and my shins.
Okay.
Oh,
I had it,
But then it went.
OK,
And you just keep attempting to do this,
You know,
Or you can be like,
OK,
You know,
I have my attention on my feet.
What about a completely separate part of my body?
How about some of my attention on my feet and some of my attention on my left hand?
And you just play with it and you gotta stay open.
Remember the spiritual terms,
Open,
Like all spiritual terms imply non-efforting.
So you can't.
Like,
Try too hard.
You can't be liked.
I'm gonna make myself feel my feet.
Like,
Jesus,
No.
Because if you pay attention to your body language when you try really,
Really hard,
Your body constricts,
It tightens,
It pushes.
See,
You know,
My face constricts,
Muscles tighten.
I'm really trying.
Like,
That's the opposite.
Of what you need to do.
You need to stay relaxed.
And attempt it.
Just a relaxed attempt.
This is why I use words like play with.
Be curious about.
Go be curious about something real hard.
Right,
You can't.
You can't be curious about something real hard.
Because it doesn't work,
You know?
Who sings that song?
Who sings that song?
I'll forget about it.
And it'll come to me.
I'll stop thinking about it and it'll come to me.
Oh,
I know who it was,
Right?
This is like,
We've all experienced it.
We need to stay relaxed and open for energy to flow through us for anything to actually work.
So it's not about efforting.
It's not about trying real hard.
It's about staying relaxed and playing with.
You know,
Like I.
I got class clown my whole life through school,
Like literally,
Like elementary school,
Junior high school,
High school,
I got class clown.
And,
You know,
I wasn't the one voting.
It was all my classmates and or teachers.
I don't even know.
But.
I'm fairly certain there wasn't that big of,
There wasn't too much competition.
Most people knew who was going to get that.
I have a very strong comic aspect to my personality.
But there's the tears of the clown.
I'm extremely serious.
Sometimes too serious in other ways too,
Right?
So this is like people might look at you know,
Somebody that's got a strong sense of humor and likes to goof around and play and be like,
Oh,
They don't have to worry about being serious.
It's like,
Oh,
No,
A lot of those people.
I mean,
Look at Robin Williams.
Look at,
You know,
Like a lot of famous actors,
Even that started out as comics.
Like there's tears of a clown for a reason.
Like that's just one side of people.
And usually people who develop a strong sense of humor as a part of their personality,
It's a cover-up for pain,
God knows it was with me,
And or a way of fitting in when they felt they didn't fit in,
Et cetera.
So it's covering up something.
So there's a strong,
Serious side.
A lot of depression.
You can go too far in the other direction,
Too.
So I have to make sure that I don't do that.
And I want you guys to make sure you don't do that.
Don't take this so seriously.
Not because it's the most wonderful,
Cool,
Freaking awesome thing in the world.
It is.
It's like,
This is why I love spirituality.
Whenever I want to attach to something else,
I was just like,
Yeah,
But this is cool in its own way.
But there's so much more.
This is cool in its own way.
But there's so much more.
And I could never fully latch on to something.
And then I found spirituality and I was like,
Oh my God,
This is the end all be all.
This is like,
This is the secrets of the universe.
The,
The,
The,
The,
The truth of our very existence,
Why we're here,
How the universe works.
Like there's nothing bigger than this.
This is everything.
So it's everything that is everything that ever was.
And everything that ever shall be is this.
So like I found it,
You know?
So I,
You know,
It's not that I don't take it seriously in understanding the immensity of it,
I do,
But taking it too seriously does not benefit my spiritual practice.
Because it constricts and tightens.
So staying playful with it and interacting with it,
That's,
You know.
Think about it,
What are high vibrations?
Love,
Peace,
Joy,
Happiness.
You know,
Playfulness,
Like that's all.
You know,
That's all high vibration,
Enjoyable.
Stuff.
So spirituality has to be up there.
It has to,
You know,
It's,
You're not gonna,
You know,
You're not gonna find spiritual freedom in depression.
And negativity.
Like that's the stuff that's pushing us away from it.
We want to end our suffering.
We want to find peace.
So we're not going to find peace by focusing on suffering.
I mean,
And boy,
This is a good example of how.
How words aren't it because like I'm hearing myself speak,
You know,
These words are coming through me,
But I'm hearing them too.
And,
Um,
And I'm,
You know,
My ego is going,
Well,
Geez,
Glenn,
You know,
If you looked at it from this perspective,
Then,
You know,
Negativity actually is a major part of spirituality.
And it's like,
Yes,
I know this is the overlap that I was talking about.
You know,
Like there's overlap.
These words,
I can't put the right words to it.
I just got to point to it in a few different ways and hope you guys pick up on it.
Um.
.
.
So,
Yes,
Of course,
You know,
Negativity can push us towards spirituality and there's even negative aspects of ourselves that that need to be integrated,
Like shadow work and all that stuff.
I get that,
You know.
So just try to stay with me,
What I'm saying.
Ah,
A little water.
So it's this playful energy,
This relaxed,
Playful curiosity.
Oh,
I'll try this.
Because if you're not like that,
You're going to judge yourself.
If you're holding on too tightly,
You're going to judge yourself and you're going to beat yourself up and you're going to you're going to get upset when you fail.
And then you and and then if you get upset when you fail,
You're going to start feeding yourself like things like,
I don't even know why I try.
There's no way I'm going to get this.
I don't even understand what I'm trying to do.
Blah,
Blah,
Blah.
And you get up all in your head and you're gone,
Man.
Yeah,
Bye.
I liked it.
You got to come back off of that.
Nonetheless,
That's the energy you can't get caught up in.
You need to relax.
And play with it.
And then what's going to happen is you go,
Oh,
Okay.
I'm playing with putting attention to a.
Excuse me,
A particular part of my body.
I don't know what I'm doing.
I'm kind of attempting,
But I'm not trying real hard.
I'm not focusing and.
Oh,
Pushing.
I'm just.
I don't know.
I guess I'm kind of thinking about an area.
I don't know.
What was that?
What was that?
What was that?
I think I felt something.
Oh,
But then I got excited and I lost it.
Oh,
Okay.
Well,
Hey,
Who knows?
I don't know.
Stay playful.
Stay open.
That might've been something.
Oh yeah,
Maybe,
Maybe not.
I don't know.
It was kind of quick.
Oh,
All right.
Oh,
I'll try it again.
Oh,
Stay relaxed.
Try it again.
Don't try harder because you almost had it,
But you didn't quite have it.
Like don't,
You know,
That's when efforting comes in and you go,
Oh,
You have to try harder.
I tried a little and I almost had it.
So if I try harder,
Then I'll definitely get it.
No,
That's.
It's conditioning thinking from society.
And boy,
Did I know that as an alcoholic.
If three beers were good,
Then six is better.
And I'm kind of an extremist,
So.
We gotta steer away from that.
And just stay open and playful and relaxed.
If I get it,
Cool.
If I don't,
That's all right.
I'm just playing.
I'm just playing with it.
I thought I.
I felt it,
But then I lost it.
You know,
And you wouldn't say this.
I'm trying to give you I'm trying to verbalize what you might experience during this.
So,
You know,
You're not going to say these things in your head,
Hopefully,
Because that would take your attention off what you're attempting to do.
In a playful.
Fun manner and you'd be up in your head thinking again.
So but I'm trying to put words to it so you can follow along,
You know.
Oh,
I think.
I don't know,
Eh?
It could have been it.
It might have been it.
Might not have been it.
I don't know.
Oh,
There.
Oh,
That one was longer that time.
Okay.
Okay.
Now I know I felt something.
I don't know what it was.
I don't know if it was what Glenn was talking about.
I don't know,
But I definitely felt something.
I felt something.
Okay,
Cool.
You know,
And then,
Like,
That's a little piece,
Like,
You don't latch on to it too tightly,
Like,
Oh,
My God,
I win.
No,
You just get it.
And you see it as a slight minimal step in the right direction.
You know,
Not even a success,
Just Oh,
Look,
Little progress.
I think I think I made a little progress.
Oh,
Good.
So you acknowledge that you had progress,
But you don't turn it into this monumental accomplishment because then it's a thing.
Oh,
I accomplished.
I did this.
No,
You didn't do anything.
You.
You just aligned with your truth for a moment,
You know,
Like relax.
So this is what I'm talking about.
You know,
This is what implementation looks like in that situation.
You know,
Some of the other things I used to do,
I used to,
I got a little plant that I put on my coffee table.
I think it was a cactus because I couldn't keep anything alive.
I did.
I did.
So I got a few cactuses over the years.
I always loved plants,
But I just could never keep them alive.
So I started getting cactuses.
And then when my son was young,
There was things flying around my house pretty often.
Balls.
Rubber bands,
Anything we could throw at each other.
It was it was usually airborne Nerf footballs,
You know,
So it was those cactuses took a beating.
They would get hit every once in a while,
But they lasted longer than everything else.
But I would sit there,
This is what I would do.
I'd come home from work and I'd be listening to spiritual CDs on the way home from work.
And I'd be sitting there and sometimes I might have a baseball game on.
I've been watching a lot of baseball again lately.
Red Sox are doing well.
But like that,
I kind of liked because I could be I was so into spirituality.
Researching things on the internet,
Listening to things and stuff.
I could have that on the background and maybe go check out a home run every once in a while.
So it was kind of like.
But I could have that on.
And still do other things,
You know,
So I might have the baseball game on,
But I'm looking at the TV stand underneath the TV,
Um,
Where there might be like legs,
You know,
Like a coffee table leg or something where,
Where you've got the top and then you've got the leg coming down.
And if you go a couple inches in underneath the top of a,
TV stand there,
There's just empty space.
So I would focus.
My attention on the empty space.
Like those of you guys watching on video,
Like you can pick a space that's empty,
Like right next to my head.
Like I've,
You know,
I'm making a circle here next to my head.
That is not all the way back to the wall.
I'm not talking about the wall.
That's the wall,
Right?
I'm touching it.
Don't focus on the wall.
Focus on the little empty space right next to the same depth as my head,
But next to it where there's nothing.
And you just put your attention there,
You just look at that.
Try to feel something in your chest.
Like I'm doing it right now.
And I can feel a connection to that space.
That's what I used to do underneath.
I'd find an empty space.
I would do that with,
Like I said,
A TV stand or a coffee table or something.
And I would just zone out and just look at that.
And I would start to feel this sensation in my chest and my heart of this connectedness to something bigger,
Because that is no thing.
But that's not empty space,
As I described it.
We found out that we thought everything empty space,
Even in outer space,
And it's not.
It's not empty.
There is substance there.
We can't see it and all this stuff,
But there's something there.
It's kind of like looking at a desk and going like,
Oh,
Well,
This is a solid object because I can see it.
I can tap on it.
That's solid.
No,
It's not.
It's in constant movement.
There's energy moving inside these molecules,
Inside this desk,
And they're moving too fast,
And we can't see them with our senses.
But it doesn't mean that they're not moving.
You put it under a microscope,
You can see it moving.
Right.
So it's the same thing out in space.
So this is right.
Like when I go out at night,
This is another way of implementing this stuff and getting a connection with your body and with everything that is like the other dimension.
Connecting.
To no thing,
Not a thing,
Connecting to something formless.
Not connecting to something with form.
So most people,
When they go out at night,
They're looking at the stars,
The stars have form.
That space in between the stars does not have form.
So it's fine to go look at those beautiful stars,
But then put your attention on just a spot of black.
It's sometimes it's hard to find one up here in the Dominican Republic in the mountains because there's no light pollution.
So like there's so many stars.
But you look and you focus on just a spot of blackness out in there.
And yeah,
Your heart opens and you're connected to everything.
Sometimes you can do it with the ocean.
So these are all different ways that I played with driving down the road.
I used to drive from Rhode Island up to Massachusetts to work and I would take 295 because There was less traffic,
Which I like.
But it was a little longer,
But there was less traffic and it was all nature.
It was all trees,
Mostly trees,
Instead of going through Providence,
Rhode Island up 95 through all the concrete jungle.
I'm going through the real jungle.
Not jungle,
But woods.
So I would drive up there and I would just try to stay open.
And of course you got to be careful doing this stuff when you're driving because you know,
You need to drive.
So if anything,
I would not recommend doing this while you're driving.
Maybe if you're sitting in the passenger seat,
You know,
Like God,
I don't want to tell anybody to do something that would.
End up injuring them or others.
So maybe when you're in a passenger seat,
That way you can just really relax.
It's much better that way anyway.
And you're driving and I used to go and I would look ahead.
So I'd stay on the road,
You know,
But I could see the trees out of my peripheral and I would glance at them a little while a little bit.
And I did this so often that I could kind of fade in and out.
And I never had a problem staying on the road.
But like you said,
You got to be really careful.
So I probably wouldn't recommend this to start.
But I would.
But I do want to tell you guys what I would see.
I would start seeing the trees and the groupings of trees kind of like families or or personalities or something.
I'd be like,
All of a sudden,
I'd be kind of scoping the trees.
And I do this out when I'm hiking.
I can do it when I'm hiking.
That's a better example.
So when you're out walking in nature,
You can do this.
And you just,
You're kind of glancing around,
Then all of a sudden you see this grouping of trees,
And like sometimes it would look like a family.
I'd be like,
You know,
Sometimes it would have like a couple tall trees in it,
Kind of like the parents,
And then a group of smaller ones around it,
You know,
Like the kids or something.
You know,
And I'd be like,
Oh,
Wow,
Like you guys got this cool grouping.
It almost looks like a family,
You know,
Wow.
And then,
Oh,
After that,
There'd be this one tall one just standing all alone above everything else.
And it's like,
Oh,
Wow,
Look at you.
You know,
You're so out there by yourself and standing up and overseeing everything.
And oh,
Wow,
That's so cool.
And then,
You know,
And then a group of darker green ones That that were like in a different type of grouping and it's like oh you guys are staying close to the ground and you're you're You know,
Like you're you're kind of filling in this picture that I'm seeing with all these different aspects to it.
But yet you're all together at the same time.
Like,
It's all this just playful stuff,
Man.
It doesn't need to mean anything.
You know,
It's just connecting with essence.
You know,
So that's another big thing.
Don't label anything because that minimizes it into an object,
Into a thing.
Right.
We're connecting with the formless dimension.
So so what you want to do is just like when you walk through nature,
Don't don't be like,
Oh,
Look at look at that pretty flower.
I wonder what kind it is.
I wonder if they sell them at the store down.
But no,
That's all in.
You're in your head then.
Right.
So it's like,
Be a child,
Like,
You know,
Like,
Like.
.
.
Like a child when it first sees a dragonfly,
You know,
And it doesn't know what it is.
And they fly so unique.
You know,
And they're like,
Oh.
And they're amazed,
They're overwhelmed,
And they can't even speak because they don't have a name for what that thing is,
But it's so beautiful and unique,
And they're seeing its essence.
Like,
What did I just hear?
Krishnamurti or somebody said,
Don't tell a child the name of a bird,
Because if you do,
That's the last time it will see it.
It will see that bird.
Because before it knows what it is and what the name is,
You see its essence.
You don't minimize it into an object.
You're just like,
Oh,
Wow.
You see it in all its glory.
It's beyond beautiful.
It's beyond precise and lovely.
And the way it interacts with the air and nature is just amazing.
And you can.
You can feel it.
And then you go.
Oh,
That's a blue jay.
Now your brain thinks it knows what it is and it's just this thing that you understand.
It's not that remarkable anymore.
You lose its essence.
Because you can't minimize something into a word.
Into an object.
You know,
Especially something living.
Like,
I mean,
This is the difference.
You look at anything living and you don't label it.
You look at a tree and you just go.
You know,
It's just.
Just this big thing just.
Oh,
And it has different parts to it,
And it's,
Whoa.
And don't even put those words to it.
You know,
It's just taking in its essence and there's an aliveness to it.
There's an aliveness to everything when you do that.
But as soon as we label it,
We minimize it.
So this is all,
You know,
Starting to get used to feeling a vibration,
A sensation,
A physical sensation when you connect to something that isn't a thing.
When you connect to all that is.
When you connect to the formless.
Let's see.
Actually,
I'm going to pop this other screen.
See,
I pulled up a couple of things to try to give me some.
Some talking points but a big shock a lot of stuff that came up on AI it's just It's typical stuff.
It's not that you can't do some of these things like meditation,
Mindfulness,
Gratitude,
Um,
Forgiveness.
Like you can actually.
Sit down and practice forgiveness.
You know,
Like through contemplation of why you're forgiving.
And,
You know,
That that it doesn't mean that you approve of what they did.
It's just so you don't carry the anger inside of you anymore.
Like you actually have to do that.
Like you can't sit there and go,
You can't hear,
You know,
Me or some other teacher go like,
Well,
You should forgive because you know,
It's,
It's like,
Uh,
Taking poison and expecting the other person to die.
Like you're only hurting yourself because you're walking around and the resentment energy is inside you and you're suffering from it.
So when you forgive,
It's releasing that energy and.
The other person,
You know,
It's not forgiving what they did.
What they did or approving of what they did.
It's just letting go of their throat.
It's forgiving them.
It's,
It's so you're not carrying around that anger.
And then,
You know,
You hear this a few times,
You get it in your head and you go,
Oh yeah,
Yeah,
I understand that concept.
So,
Um,
So yeah,
Bob pissed me off.
I've been resentful towards him for six months,
So yeah.
I get it.
You're forgiven,
Bob.
Like,
There's no reason for me to carry this anger around.
Yeah.
And then you go about your daily life.
And then you wonder why,
When you see Bob,
Your stomach goes up in your mouth.
It's like,
Because you didn't do anything,
Like you didn't actually forgive him.
You didn't energetically release any of that resentment energy.
Just because you understand it in your head,
Some concept,
Some sentence that some spiritual teacher said doesn't mean that you actually forgave somebody.
You know,
And you know,
Let's be fair.
Sometimes when you forgive somebody,
You got to forgive them over and over and over,
You know,
Several times.
Sometimes it doesn't happen all at once.
So that's a possibility too.
But my point is,
Is you need to actually sit down and go in.
So this is one of the ways that I implement things is I go in and I go,
Okay,
Let's,
I'll use forgiveness for this example,
But I do it with a lot of things.
Okay.
What am I doing?
I'm trying to forgive Bob.
Okay.
I don't even know who the hell Bob is.
Which is probably good for this experiment.
I'm going to have to give Bob because he did something.
All right,
So I got to sit there and I have to go,
Why am I angry with Bob?
Well,
Because he called me a jerk.
Okay,
Well why did that trigger me?
Well,
I don't know.
I guess maybe a part of me might feel insecure.
So when he said it,
I got defensive.
I don't want to be talked to like that.
That's not like.
Okay,
So is it true?
Am I a jerk?
Well,
No.
You know,
Is it true?
That's a big part of implementation.
That's a big that that's a signpost that points down deeper.
Is that true?
You follow.
Keep asking.
Is that true?
Is that true?
Is that true?
You can follow it deeper.
You go,
Is that true?
Well,
No,
I'm not a jerk.
Okay,
Then.
What's the difference between Bob calling you a jerk and a four year old calling you a jerk?
Because,
You know.
His mother said he couldn't have a lollipop,
So you didn't give him one.
And then he called you a jerk.
Well,
The four year old,
I understand that he was just upset about the lollipop.
And I mean,
He's four years old.
I don't think he's capable of completely forming an opinion of me as a person.
He probably doesn't understand what it's like to be an adult or why he can't have the lollipop.
So I don't you know,
There's really no weight to what he's saying.
So I'm not taking it personally.
Oh,
OK.
Does that differ from Bob?
You must care what Bob says.
More than this four-year-old.
Oh yeah,
Maybe I do.
Oh,
Okay.
So maybe it's just my own insecurity.
Bob has the right to his opinion.
I can't necessarily change him.
He has a right to think that I'm a jerk,
Actually.
I can't control that.
So what if I gave him the freedom?
To think that I'm a jerk.
If he actually thinks that,
Maybe he was just frustrated and it came out of his mouth.
But if he just,
If he actually thinks that,
What if I just gave him the freedom to think that?
Oh.
Yeah,
OK.
And then you go,
Yeah,
Then I feel inside my body.
I'm going through this process and I feel inside my body.
And if there is energy that's incongruent,
If there's a part of me that believes what I just broke down as truth and there's a part of me that doesn't believe it,
That has an objection to what I just said.
I'm going to be able to feel that I either feel really calm and comfortable when I'm being true and honest to myself,
Or I feel some incongruencies.
And if I feel a little.
I go,
Oh,
What's that?
Is there an objection in there?
Why do I think that I shouldn't give Bob the freedom to feel the way he feels?
Well,
If you do that,
Then everybody's going to think you're a jerk.
Oh,
Is that true?
Well,
No,
Not necessarily.
Um,
You know,
Just because somebody has the freedom to think the way they do and you afford them that freedom doesn't mean everybody's going to start thinking negative thoughts.
Oh yeah,
I guess that's true.
So I guess it doesn't do that.
Oh,
Okay.
And then let's see.
Now I'll see if there's any other objections.
And if there are,
I'll deal with those.
And I keep doing that until I get to a point inside of me where I can think,
I forgive Bob.
Bob has the right to think whatever he thinks about me.
Whatever my new truth is,
I just say it and I pay attention to how I feel.
And I wait.
10 seconds or so.
Then I say it again.
I'll wait 10 seconds,
Paying attention to how I feel.
Say it again.
Wait 10 seconds.
Oh,
Okay.
Now,
Yeah,
I don't feel any incongruencies.
I feel comfortable saying that.
I feel like that's truth to me now.
Oh,
Okay.
So that,
See,
This is implementation.
This is how you take concepts and actually make them part of you.
This is how you adopt a new belief system deep inside of you,
And you also allow the energy to come out.
And I have another podcast on how you release energy.
I'm going to have to wrap this up soon.
You know,
Sometimes you might have to do this before you forgive Bob.
Maybe after you do the intellectual process that I just described,
I'll go in and be like,
Okay,
There was that resentment towards Bob.
Oh,
There.
Oh,
Geez.
Yeah.
I said his name.
Yeah.
And I just felt this.
Okay.
That's okay.
And I'll allow myself to feel it.
Put my attention on that feeling and allow it.
And then all of a sudden,
It starts dissipating.
You know,
A general negative thing,
Like getting cut off in traffic or a little resentment.
A lot of times those only carry like 20 seconds worth of energy.
So if you just allow yourself to feel it.
Oh,
It feels like tightness in my chest.
Don't label it.
Don't judge it.
Just pay attention to it.
Watch it.
If you need to give your brain something to do,
Then you can do things like I just said.
Oh,
Look,
It's tightness in my chest.
Oh,
It moved up the back of my neck.
Now it feels like tightness up there.
Oh,
Now it feels like a little nausea or some,
Like my head's in a vice or my ears are clogged a little or whatever.
Oh,
It's not interesting.
That's what resentment feels like sometimes.
You know,
You can do that while you're allowing yourself to feel it,
But you can't tell a story.
Oh yeah,
Bob said this,
And Bob did that,
And I hate when Bob said that,
And I can't withstand it when people do that.
If you're doing that,
You're just creating more negative energy.
Your body doesn't know the difference between whether you're experiencing something or you're thinking about it.
So you can't think about the story.
Okay.
So these are all different ways of implementing these things.
So look for this as you're listening to my podcast,
Look for.
Ways.
And then when you're done listening to the podcast,
Like,
How can I implement this?
Make a strategy.
Like take notes,
Put a reminder on your phone.
Hey,
Tomorrow morning when,
Uh,
You know,
It's a Saturday when you have some free time,
Make sure you sit down and work through that resentment with Bob,
The way that Glenn was talking about or,
And then,
And put it in your damn calendar.
And then follow through on it.
You know,
Like it's actually doing this type of stuff.
It's actually contemplating things,
Paying attention to how you feel.
Trying to take the concepts and the ways of working through things and etc,
Etc,
Etc,
Of the millions of things I've talked about in all these podcasts and actually figuring out how to make your life a more enjoyable existence.
By doing something about the things that bother you.
And shifting how you're interacting with reality.
So I think that's it.
I think that's.
.
.
That's my best shot at the moment for implementation.
Hopefully you guys liked it.
Best wishes.
Let me know if you need anything.
I'm around and that'll do it for today.
Peace.
