The Art Of Receiving From The Divine

Inspiration comes in many forms. In this episode, I share how Buddy Valastro's "Cake Boss" taught me the importance of keeping the back door open for deliveries. I realized I couldn't continue to Give unless I took time out to replenish and Receive. Also included in this Podcast, Archangels Haniel and Jophiel. (originally released November 9, 2018)

Hi friends,

This is Gladys Ellen and welcome to Heavenly Hugs,

A podcast guided by angels.

It is here I will share my personal angel stories and insight so that you too can be uplifted and blessed by these beautiful beings of light.

Hi friends and fellow earth angels,

It's Gladys and welcome back to my podcast.

And today I'm going to be talking to you about the art of receiving.

Receiving for earth angels and caregivers can be a bit of a challenge.

I really feel like it's connected to our belief systems,

Our programs,

Our worth,

Our value.

And a lot of us have been taught that it's selfish to receive.

But I have found that if we can find balance in giving and receiving,

Energy flows so much easier.

So when I first started public speaking and speaking for spiritualist churches,

I would connect with the Archangel Raziel.

And I would ask him to give me a platform,

Give me something,

A vision,

A picture,

An idea that will help people understand what it's like for the divine and how I can explain these difficult concepts in an easy way.

So I would get images,

Thoughts and ideas,

And I kind of go based on that.

So I was getting ready to speak at a local spiritualist church and I realized how difficult receiving is for people and how drained people get from giving so much.

And then because people,

Caregivers,

Earth angels have given so much and they don't get in return back from those people,

They become resentful and frustrated and angry.

So I asked Archangel Raziel to help me understand that because I was guilty of it too.

And then also to help me explain it in a way where people will want to receive,

Receive from the divine,

Receive from family,

Friends,

Strangers.

And at the time I remember I used to love watching the reality TV show Cake Boss and Carlos Bakery down in New Jersey.

So I got this image of a bakery.

So picture yourself as a bakery owner and you have this beautiful talent and gift of making the most yummy,

Delicious pastries,

Cakes and sweets.

And so you spend your time in the back in the bakery preparing,

Mixing the ingredients,

Decorating,

Designing,

And then you put all your art pieces of work,

Sweets and pastries out on display.

And what happens is people start coming in and word of mouth gets out and more people come into your bakery.

And you're giving,

You're giving your cannolis,

You're giving your cakes,

You're giving your muffins and your cupcakes.

And people are saying,

I love this.

Thank you so much.

I love this.

I need more.

Thank you so much.

So think of it as this is,

These are your talents.

These are your gifts.

This is your time,

Your energy,

Your money,

What you offer to the world are like what's on display in the bakery case.

Now at some point,

If you don't stop to replenish your case,

What's going to happen is people are going to start coming.

Your case is going to get empty,

Right?

So at some point you need to stop,

Close the doors,

Go in the back and replenish.

Remake your muffins and cakes and decorate once again.

And this is that part of giving and receiving.

So if you're in a job as a caregiver,

A service provider,

It's like you're giving all your time and your energy to people who are going to take that.

They're going to be so appreciative most of the time and they're going to leave.

And if you work in a bakery,

You're not going to expect your customers to come back in and help you replenish,

Right?

The natural flow is you have a support system and a team that you work together with.

So you go in the back and you replenish and you make like more supplies,

More cakes,

Sweets.

For me,

I find that the divine is part of the delivery trucks.

They're the ones that deliver the ingredients for you to make.

So for example,

When Raziel gives me this information to share with people,

It's like my ingredients.

It's what I can do.

I can take the images,

The thoughts,

The ideas,

And I can mix them together and I can make them into something that I can help somebody with.

A lot of times what caregivers do is they put a hand up or they padlock the delivery door.

And then the energy is,

Nope,

I got it.

Nope,

I can handle it.

Nope,

I can do it.

Nope,

I'll figure it out.

It's the same mentality when we try to carry 10,

000 shopping bags up the stairs.

When we are juggling a bunch of stuff in our hands and somebody asks us if we need any help,

We say,

Nope,

We've got it.

In a way,

What you're doing is you're putting your hand up on the back door or your padlocking the back door and not allowing those delivery trucks to come in with the necessary ingredients for you to be able to provide for the people that you're giving to.

So this is kind of profound for me and you know,

Life homework is learning how to receive,

How to say yes,

Thank you.

And receiving can come in so many ways.

I can't tell you friends how many times I'd be sitting at a stop sign with somebody in front of me or two caregivers at a stop sign and watching them,

You know,

Wave each other on.

Nope,

No,

No,

No,

You go.

And the other one says,

No,

No,

No,

You go.

And the other one says,

No,

No,

No,

You go.

And then what happens more often not,

They both go and they both stop and everybody gets aggravated.

If one person loved themselves enough to receive and say,

Thank you,

Things would flow a lot easier,

Right?

And so when you are open to receiving,

Whatever it is,

Somebody helping you in a grocery store,

Somebody letting you go to stop sign,

Saying yes to somebody who wants to buy you lunch or coffee,

By doing that,

You are giving somebody else the opportunity to give.

Now I can guarantee you that most of you are great givers.

You give your time,

Your energy,

Your money.

A lot of times in the work that I do,

I see a lot of over givers,

People who are tired and depleted and drained because they're doing everything for everybody.

So there has to be some balance between giving and receiving.

So I like to think of it as keeping the channels open,

Keeping that back door open so that the delivery trucks can come with the ingredients that I need to be able to make and produce the best of what I do.

So I have to believe that I'm worthy and deserving of it.

I have to value myself.

I have to know when I'm becoming depleted and I have to know when I have to go back and recharge and replenish.

So things like taking walks outside are a great way to receive from the divine.

When the universe drops those pennies or those feathers,

Yes,

Those are signs from the divine saying,

Hey,

We're here for you.

Remember the angels and God in the universe,

They abide by the law of free will.

So we have to be open to asking and also receiving.

I can't tell you how often I hear from people that say,

Where was God?

Where are the angels?

They never show up for me.

How come they work for you when they don't work for me?

Well,

I can tell you friends,

I'm always asking.

I always give them permission to support me in my life,

To help and assist.

Personally,

I'm going through some changes right now in my own life and I have an option.

I have an option to be really nervous and scared about it,

Overwhelmed and frustrated and not do anything,

Which is a lot of my old thinking.

And this time in this moment,

I refuse to go there.

I am getting excited about the changes.

I'm about to make the transformations I'm going through and I'm actually almost giddy about how God is going to bring it into my life.

I know it's coming.

I know it's going to be there.

I know the opportunities are going to come joyously.

And so when I shift that energy and I give God permission to show up for me in the best and highest possible way he can possibly come in,

I can't help but be joyful and excited.

I'm interested to see how this all unfolds,

How it all,

The manifestation comes through.

And I can't wait to see how it happens because then I'm even more excited about sharing it with you and the power of the divine.

So if you're not,

Or you're blocked to receiving from God's people.

If you are putting that hand up,

For example,

If you're putting your hands up and you're closing your front door,

Well then guess what?

Nobody can come in and nobody will have any idea about how wonderful and amazing you are.

So you got a lot of people in,

But it's 99% sure that the people you give to aren't going to be the people that you're going to receive back from.

So often I hear,

I give so much to everybody and where are they when I need them?

Well guess what?

Over time you've put your hand on the back door or you've padlocked the door for the delivery trucks.

And I can tell you people will think,

Well,

She's okay.

She's fine.

She doesn't need any help.

She seems to have it all covered.

She seems to be able to handle it or he,

He seems to have it.

He makes it happen.

He's good.

He doesn't need any help.

And then what happens is energetically we become tired and depleted and drained and people stop coming around and anger and frustration comes up.

So we are getting ready to go into the holiday season.

You are going to be listening to this in the beginning first week of November.

And I encourage you as we move into the holiday season,

It's so,

So easy to get caught up in giving,

Giving,

Giving,

Giving,

Giving,

Giving,

Which don't get me wrong.

I think giving is phenomenal.

I think it's beautiful to be able to cheer somebody up and bring a light into somebody's life.

But I think we live in a society that guilts us.

If you say no,

That you're a bad person.

So what's going to happen is all the shopping centers are going to be asking you to donate to something.

There's going to be lots of needs for people out there.

And I encourage you to just pause before you say yes to everything and ask,

How are you feeling?

One of the things that I love to navigate with,

With giving and receiving,

I always say,

If you have the time,

But not the money,

Give the time.

If you have the money,

But don't have the time,

Give the money.

If you don't have the time or the money,

Allow yourself to receive and fill up.

So one of those mantras that I tell myself and remind myself is give from the overflow.

So as I'm out and about,

And this one needs this and this one wants this and this one's collecting for this and that one's collecting for that,

I think it can get overwhelming.

And I think that the whole spirit of Christmas or the spirit of the holidays can become a sense of dread for people when they don't have boundaries or can't say no for themselves.

So it just gets intense with giving and buying and overwhelming.

And so one of the things that I set the intention of the boundary for going into the holiday season is to give myself permission when I'm asked to stop and pause and ask myself,

Am I filled up to overflowing?

Do I have extra to give so that by the time the season's over,

I don't feel like I'm stuck and overwhelmed in debt and frustrated and now angry?

So give yourself permission to pause.

And then also too,

If somebody is offering you to buy you a coffee,

Maybe somebody is saying,

Hey,

You know what?

Do you need me to do anything for you?

Yes.

If you have a million things that you have to do,

Give them an opportunity to give because you know what?

You know how good it feels to give.

I know how good it feels to give.

It makes me so happy to give.

But if I was telling everybody in my life,

Nope,

Don't give to me.

Nope.

I don't need anything.

Nope.

Guess what?

They're going to kind of feel yucky about it.

They're not going to move on.

It would be the same thing if everybody kept telling you no.

Nope.

I don't need any help.

Nope.

Nope.

Because there really is a joy in giving.

And I think this is where we come from that place of wanting to give,

But there always comes to a point when it becomes overwhelming.

So think of this,

Friends.

You want to give to the people who are happy to receive.

Thank you so much.

I appreciate what you have to offer.

I appreciate your knowledge and wisdom.

I appreciate your time.

I appreciate your money,

Your energy.

I value you.

Instead of continuing to give to the takers,

And you know the difference,

There are people that no matter what you give them,

How much,

They'll always want more,

And they'll always come back.

And then guess what?

When you say no,

You're the bad guy.

So there's a clear difference.

And so there needs to be a balance in the art of giving and receiving.

And receiving is necessary to keep the flow,

But it's also necessary to receive from the divine.

You don't always have to receive from people in order to be filled up.

Now I can tell you,

I receive so much love from my dog.

My little puppy is the sweetest,

Cutest,

And I just received so much love for him.

And so when he comes to sit on my lap,

I sit with him,

I give him hugs and cuddles,

And I let him give to me.

I let him be sweet and kind and snuggle with me because it feels really good.

When something comes up,

An opportunity,

An experience,

I let God come in.

I let God bring his people to me to be able to offer me and give to me so that I can receive in such a beautiful way.

And I'm open to that for a very long time.

I was pretty bitter about giving to everybody all my time and energy.

And I can't tell you how often I would say,

Where is anybody when I need them?

Why am I giving so much and people just taking,

Taking,

Taking?

And when I got to sit and reflection it in meditation,

You know,

I got that image of the bakery and I'm like,

That's right.

I need to go back in the back and replenish.

I need to open up that back door.

Then I,

Whatever I kept saying,

Nope,

I got it.

Nope.

I can handle it.

Nope.

I can do it.

And I need to let angels in and God in,

In the divine in,

Archangels,

Ascended masters.

I need to let those beings of light in to support me.

So if giving is a difficult,

Receiving is a difficult thing for you.

And again,

There are people that I know that you're going to say,

No,

I need to say no to,

And it's hard for me to receive.

I feel bad.

I don't want anyone to spend their money on me or their time on me.

Think of it in a way as you're giving them a beautiful gift to be able to give to you.

You're giving them a beautiful gift to keep the flow of energy going and to allow them to offer you something that they have that's overflow and giving them some chance,

A chance to feel happy and joyful that they've been able to give in such a beautiful way where somebody is appreciative.

So what you can do to make receiving easier is be appreciative.

Thank you so much.

I appreciate you.

The small things to the big things,

Because what happens is people are just going to start floating away.

And if you're one of those people out there have said,

I give,

Give,

Give,

And nobody's ever around,

I ask you to just kind of pause and reflect upon how you're showing up and saying yes to the universe or saying no energetically.

You know,

If you never go at a stop sign or you never say yes to that coffee or that lunch date or that dinner or whatever,

It doesn't even have to be.

Even if it's a kind smile,

You know,

If you're walking around and you know,

You find it hard to receive even a kind smile for somebody,

It really is energetically,

You're putting your hand up to that back door and you're padlocking the delivery trucks.

So two angels that I connect with with this energy is Archangel Haniel and Archangel Jophiel.

They're beautiful angels that help with worth,

Value,

Self-esteem,

Confidence.

Archangel Haniel is the angel of passion.

She's really good about igniting that beautiful light within.

And then also Jophiel,

Archangel Jophiel,

She helps with worthiness.

I believe that I'm worthy and deserving of receiving God's love.

I am worthy and deserving of receiving from God's people.

And again,

There are times when I again struggle with confidence,

Self-esteem,

Worth and value.

You know,

The public can be a challenge.

So a lot of times what I will do is I will go to my website and I will peek at or I'll go to my Facebook page and I'll peek at my testimonials and I'll give myself permission to receive people's kind words.

I'll give myself permission to receive the love that people offer me and soak in their stories and the way that the work that I'm doing is helping them.

So you don't even have to receive from somebody specifically.

Remember if somebody offers you a compliment about a color you're wearing or maybe a blouse that flatters you,

Remind yourself to say thank you graciously to receive that compliment and call upon Archangel Haniel and Jophiel.

And maybe you can do this over the next month or so and ask them,

Universe,

Archangels,

Haniel and Jophiel or divine,

God source creator,

Whatever that energy is for you.

Give them permission to show up for you and deliver to you whether they come through sending pennies or feathers.

Maybe they come in different signs that you're accustomed to numbers.

The angel numbers are 444.

The twos,

222 and 222 is have faith.

Everything's going to be okay and God's number that I resonate is zeros,

000.

So when zeros show up on a license plate or I've even had on my phone,

The numbers show up 000,

000,

000.

When that happens,

I kind of laugh.

I'm like,

Oh boy,

God's calling.

I'm going to receive this.

I never pick it up,

But I think,

And I pause in the moment.

I say,

Thank you God for showing up for me.

So when I receive these signs or when I receive a compliment for somebody or a testimonial or just their joy in offering some happiness,

I pause and take a moment to allow that good energy and those good vibrations to fill up my body because you know,

We're on an emotional roller coaster.

We have highs and lows.

The planets have been ridiculous this year.

And it really is difficult to stay in that positive place,

But if you practice the art of receiving,

If the art of receiving from the divine is where you begin and giving the universe permission,

It's a powerful way to start.

So maybe you start this November by saying,

God show up for me.

I give you permission to show up in my life and I will receive graciously.

I will receive 100%.

And then if you're starting to feel ornery about giving,

Pause.

Chances are you've been depleted and giving too much yourself.

So maybe reflecting upon how much you're giving,

What you're giving and the energy and the place that you're giving and how you're giving yourself an opportunity to receive.

Remember receiving from another is like you're giving them an opportunity to give,

Which increases the flow.

I always see the eight symbol,

The infinity symbol,

And it's like when you stop giving and you put your hand up to the universe,

I mean,

When you stop receiving and you put your hand up to the universe,

It's like kind of like pinching the middle of that infinity symbol and not allowing the energy to flow.

It just gets backed up.

And like I said,

There's a lot going on in the world right now.

It's not about giving.

It's not about receiving from the people you give to.

It's about seeing the plenty of other ways that the universe comes in to give to you.

It is removing your hand from the back door.

It is unlocking that padlock and allowing the delivery trucks to show up for you with the eggs and the flour and the sugar and the chocolate bits and all these good things that you need to be able to sustain your energy and your talents and your gifts and to be able to put it out to the world.

So next time you go into a bakery,

Think about all that's involved.

Think about all that needs to be done in order to put this stuff on display and then thank them.

Ask any service providers because chances are caregivers,

Healers,

Earth angels,

Lightworkers,

They're in such a place of giving teachers,

Nurses,

Social workers,

The people who are coming to pick up your trash,

Landscapers.

These are all people of service who are really excellent givers.

So just take the time to pay them a compliment.

Remind yourself how beautiful it is to give and just watch how they're so happy to receive and then remember to do that for yourself,

With yourself.
