For this exercise,
Leave your eyes open and take a deep in-breath through the nose and a big out-breath through the mouth,
Letting go of any tension.
And notice your mental state.
How do you feel?
Tired,
Stressed,
Upset,
Frustrated,
Happy.
However it is,
Simply notice and don't judge it.
Notice also what you can see in front of you and take in also the periphery of the field of view.
Without moving the eyes,
Simply relax them.
Quite often we have what is called the tunnel vision.
That's really an effort and a waste of energy.
Just relax the eyes.
Notice the sounds around you.
Any sounds around you.
Any smell.
Any taste.
The movement of the breath.
And the points of contact between the body and the ground,
The seat.
The clothes that you're wearing.
And finally take an in-breath through the nose and an out-breath through the mouth.
And notice how you feel now.
Maybe you're calmer or present.
And bring these qualities of awareness in the rest of the day.
