A Light Meditation for Young People by Gerald Blomheim Are you sitting or lying comfortably?
Then we'll begin.
Gently close your eyes and allow your body to relax.
As your muscles begin to soften,
Allow your body to feel safe and supported.
Watch your breath as it flows in and out,
All by itself.
Breathe in deeply and without straining,
Expand your tummy as much as you can.
Hold your breath for a few moments.
When you breathe out,
Hold your tummy in,
Letting go of the stale air in your body and of your thoughts.
Take another slow,
Long,
Deep breath,
As long and as deep as you can.
Hold it.
Then breathe out completely.
Let your body continue to breathe in its own rhythm.
Just watch it doing this all by itself.
Be at ease.
Everything is alright.
Begin letting go of any tension in your body and relax.
Feel that you're starting to slow down.
Allow your muscles to relax and your skin to soften as you breathe slowly and deeply.
Let gravity take over.
Your limbs are feeling heavy and relaxed and your eyelids are very heavy.
Begin to create a picture in your mind.
Imagine that the sun is starting to rise.
You can just see a spot of light on the horizon.
Notice the light growing brighter as the sun begins to rise.
And imagine a stream of light flowing towards you.
It touches your head and flows down the outside of your body,
Helping you to relax even further.
It moves down over your neck and shoulders,
Relaxing them as it flows.
Notice the light flowing over your arms,
Down your back,
Over your chest and stomach,
Over your legs and feet,
Helping everything to relax.
The beautiful white light is flowing over your whole body.
It's gently washing away your tension and worries.
You're feeling peaceful and relaxed.
Be aware that the light is moving your particular fears or unwanted emotions from the surface of your body and is carrying them down to earth.
Looking at the light more closely,
You might find that it is separated into many tiny streams with rays of different colors.
They are surrounding you with their protective energies.
Some of the light rays are flowing through your body,
Helping you to let go of your fears.
Some are transforming your fears into an emotion or into a scene that brings you joy.
As the light flows,
You will find your energies shift and become lighter.
Just relax and watch for as long as you like,
Allowing all emotions that need cleansing to be released.
Gently allow your emotions to arise without judgment and allow them to pass through your body.
The light is now flowing throughout your body,
Through each cell and all of your organs.
It is as if you're being gently massaged internally.
It feels so soothing and wonderful.
The stream of light is helping you to release your fears.
Some of them dissolve effortlessly into the light as it flows.
Others may be drawn into the earth.
Imagine these fears finding a new life as they become one with earth's loving nature.
The earth welcomes their energy and transforms them into new life.
Notice that you're breathing deeply and freely.
As you allow the light to do its job,
Your body feels alive and you feel calm and serene.
Whenever you feel you are ready to come back,
Gently awaken yourself.
Start feeling the weight of your body.
Notice it breathing all by itself.
Enjoy all the pleasant feelings you just experienced.
Gently stretch your body and open your eyes when you're ready.
