Make yourself as comfortable as possible.

Feel the bed underneath you,

Supporting you.

The texture of your blankets,

Your sheets,

The sanctuary of your room where you feel safe,

At peace.

Take a conscious breath in,

Nice and slowly,

And then let it out.

And each time you let it out,

Feel your body ease,

Your muscles soften.

Relax.

Now your mind might be an inactive,

Replaying images and the stories of the day.

It doesn't realize yet that it's time to wane down,

To drop down.

It doesn't realize that it's time to stop.

And when it stops,

Listen.

Listen to the choir.

And let the peace end.

The stories that it tells are unimportant right now.

This is your time.

Your sacred time.

Your time to unwind.

Pay attention to your breathing.

Don't focus too sharply,

Just notice.

Don't try to control.

Notice how natural it is.

How the body breathes effortlessly.

As you follow it in,

Notice how everything slows down.

And be open to the sense of calm that is washing over you.

A calm that can easily lull you to sleep.

And use your attention to gently scan your body.

And feel the waves of calm moving from your feet to your calves.

Relax in your knees.

Your thighs.

Letting go.

Notice moving through your tummy.

Your chest.

Imagine falling away from your shoulders.

Letting it go.

Let it go.

As you gently scan your hands.

Your forearms.

All the way to your neck.

Focusing to serenity.
