I've used this track on three separate days now, and have downloaded it and added it to some of my Playlists. The music is catchy, especially the background which serves as a nice mantra if your mind goes blank during the second half, as mine did the first time I listened to this. It is definitely helping me reset my inner attitude and confidence for a particularly intense class I am taking as part of my doctoral program.
My only critique isn't really even a critique so much as a suggestion. It would be good to note in the description just how many repetitions the listener has at the end, and it might be helpful to pre-write a few stanzas prior to listening so there is no anxiety when the lyrics shift from pre-recorded to "you're on your own." I keep meaning to count, but I want to say there are maybe four repetitions? Or three. Something in that range - no more than five, but I think either three or four full cycles.
It's also worth noting that the music does not slow down during those free verse segments. I think that's wise, as the music is wonderful with a fantastic rhythm and flow, so changing it up in any way would be a big disconnect in the middle of the song. The critique I mentioned earlier also includes the brief duration of space provided for the "I can" and the "I am" segments. The affirmations I am using for my current situation mesh well with the "I am" and "I feel" parts, but are too long to fit in the space provided by the "I can" statement area. It really can only accommodate two or three words comfortably after stating "I can," or at least that's the case for me. I had to do some scrambling during the first time I listened to this to shoehorn what I wanted to use in, and ultimately stopped doing that after the second attempt in the song and simply allowed the background refrain to wash over me as I used visualization to manifest the reality I was attempting to vocalize. This brief time for the first two sections is why I would recommend pre-writing what you would like to say.
It might be a good idea to listen to it once all the way through before doing that, though, just to get a feel for the rhythm. A bonus to pre-writing the affirmations is that then you have a physical reminder you can carry with you or post somewhere you'll see it throughout your day, which will help reinforce the messaging you send yourself as you engage with this lovely song.
I thank you so much for sharing this gift of empowering and supportive music with us here on the Insight Timer platform. I look forward to continuing to listen to your work on a regular basis. I see you and the light within you. Be well. 🤲🏻❤🤲🏻
