An Introduction To Discovering Your Core Needs, Core Values, and Core Gifts
In this module, we encourage a mindset of looking at everything that happens: what we think, what we do, what we have, the friendships and relationships we cultivate, our career, etc. as an expression of needs, values, and gifts. Finding out what our core needs, values, and gifts are in our life is like finding an invisible compass that has been directing our lives without us knowing.
Our core needs, core values, and core gifts, and our relationship to them, form our inner guidance us toward a life of purpose, fulfillment, and authenticity. Core needs represent the essential elements we must honor to thrive—things like connection, freedom, or security. Core values reflect what we stand for, the principles we hold dear, and the ideals that shape our decisions. Meanwhile, core gifts are the unique strengths and qualities we offer the world, often linked to our greatest joys and most meaningful contributions. Understanding these three elements brings clarity to who we are and empowers us to align our lives with what matters most.
In this session, we’ll explore how core needs keep us grounded, core values keep us aligned, and core gifts help us shine. Through self-reflection and practical insights, you’ll uncover ways to better understand and honor these aspects of yourself. Whether you're looking to deepen your relationships, find purpose in your work, or simply live with greater authenticity, this journey inward will unlock a stronger sense of connection with your truest self.

Practice: Identifying Your Core Needs
Identifying your core needs is a powerful practice that helps you honor the foundations of your well-being. Core needs are the essential conditions that allow you to feel safe, fulfilled, and truly yourself. They may include things like emotional connection, personal freedom, or a sense of stability. When these needs are met, we feel balanced and energized, but when neglected, we may experience stress or disconnection. Recognizing your core needs is the first step toward creating a life that nurtures and supports you.
In this practice, you’ll reflect on moments when you’ve felt most alive and moments when something was missing. By tuning into these experiences, you’ll begin to uncover recurring patterns that point to your deepest needs. Through gentle prompts and self-inquiry, you’ll walk away with greater clarity about the conditions that help you thrive. This exercise empowers you to communicate and prioritize your needs, fostering deeper alignment in your relationships and daily life.

Understanding Core Values: Your Personal Guiding Principles + Long-Term Harmony
Core values are the things we hold most dear—the principles, qualities, or ideals that we value deeply and uniquely. Unlike core needs, which are universal to all humans, core values are personal and specific to each individual. They might include things like worldly adventure, being there for family, intellectual growth, or interpersonal kindness. These values are a reflection of what makes life meaningful for us and often inspire our decisions, behaviors, and the way we prioritize our time and energy. They serve as a layer above core needs, adding individuality and nuance to how we experience the world.
Aligning with our core values is essential for long-term harmony with others. When our lives and relationships honor what we value most, we feel fulfilled and balanced. However, when we ignore or compromise on our values, we enter into relationships that end up with enormous friction and conflict and may feel out of alignment or lost. In this talk, we’ll uncover how to identify and articulate your core values, and explore the profound impact they can have on your choices, relationships, and personal growth. By connecting with your core values, you create a life that is not only satisfying but deeply true to who you are.

Practice: Clarifying Your Core Values
This practice will guide you through reflective questions to uncover what you truly value. By exploring moments of fulfillment and challenge, you’ll identify recurring themes that point to your core values. These insights can help you live more intentionally and align your choices with what matters most.
We examine moments of joy and fulfillment—times when life felt deeply meaningful—to identify what contributed to those experiences. We'll also explore moments of frustration or misalignment, exploring what was missing or compromised and how that reveals your deeper priorities.
Through this reflective journey, we highlight recurring patterns that point to your core values and discuss how these values influence your decisions and actions. By identifying what you value most, you’ll gain clarity about how to align your life more fully with your authentic self. This lesson offers insight into the role core values play in fostering harmony and purpose in your relationships, work, and personal growth.

Your Core Gifts: The Unique Essence of Your Sense of Meaning, Contribution, and Being
Core gifts are the unique sensitivities, skills, talents, and perspectives that define how you engage with the world. They’re not just what you’re good at—they’re the essence of what makes you irreplaceable. These gifts are deeply connected to your core needs and values, interacting with them to shape the way you express yourself, connect with others, and make a difference. Your gifts may show up in your creativity, your empathy, your problem-solving ability, or your unique way of seeing the world. They are often tied to your greatest joys and also, paradoxically, to the places where you’ve felt the most vulnerable.
This talk explores how core gifts are a source of both strength and authenticity. When you recognize and embrace your gifts, you unlock new levels of purpose and connection. We’ll discuss how your gifts are not only vital to your personal fulfillment but also a way to contribute meaningfully to the world. By honoring the interplay between your gifts, values, and needs, you can align more deeply with who you are and create a life that feels true to your core self.
