Ce que vous apprendrez
I have been a musician my entire life but for the last 30 years, I have been a professional, working musician in the NY tri-state area. I play ten instruments--and am always adding to the list! In this course, I will go over basic music principals as they relate to the tongue drum. We will be working with a C-Scale tongue drum** (most standard beginner tongue drums are C instruments, but you should make sure your instrument is compatible). We will go over the "musical alphabet" and how it relates to your instrument. I will teach you to label your instrument, identify the tones on it, and then use those tones to improvise for meditation. In the last session of the course, we will do a sound meditation together, using the tongue drum as our guide. This will be an opportunity for you to play along, implementing what you've learned, and vocalize along as the meditation progresses. I can't wait to meet you and see you in class! **You must have your own tongue drum to enjoy this course to its fullest, as we will be learning to play this instrument with the ultimate goal of using it in personal meditation.

Leçon 1
Getting To Know Your Instrument
In this first lesson, we will talk about the parts of the tongue drum and the different tones available to you on this C-instrument. We will label the tones on our drums so the instrument is easier to use moving forth. We will discuss the musical alphabet and what it means to you as a tongue drum player.
Leçon 2
Getting The Mallet On The Drum--Improvising
In this second class, we will learn how the different tones work together to form a major scale and a minor scale, a major chord and a minor chord, and simple melodies. You will have a chance to practice playing tones that sound pleasant together and improvising with one mallet on these two different scales and two different chords.
Leçon 3
Playing More Than One Note (With Two Mallets)
In this class, we will learn which notes sound pleasing when played at the same time. We will have some time to practice playing with two mallets, which will prepare us for our final class, a sound meditation using our tongue drums.
Leçon 4
Sound Meditation -- Ananda Shanti
In this class class, we will do a sound meditation together (Ananda Shanti--copyrighted material) using the tongue drum and the powerful Om, along with some other vocalizations. I will be leading the meditation, but this is your chance to play along for the entire track and practice all the skills we have learned in the previous 3 lessons. Have fun with it! I am honored that you have spent this time with me. Namaste!

Thank you that has given me so much to work with in such a short course. All makes a bit more sense now.
