In this first session, you’ll learn a bit about what yoga nidra is—and what current research reveals about this powerful ancient practice. We close this practice with a guided reflection connecting you to your deeper desires and hopes for nurturing the practice of yoga nidra in your life.

Riding The Waves Of Consciousness
Yoga Nidra takes us on a journey through the space of our conscious awareness and our energetic anatomy. In this session, we’ll spend some getting looking at the structure of a traditional yoga nidra practice and the experience it invites into our complete physiology. The session closes with a guided practice to help connect with the felt sense of your energetic anatomy.

Entering Relaxation
This first stage of yoga nidra is about settling in and gently inviting the stress response to deactivate. In this session, we take a closer look at the first stage of yoga nidra, and what is happening here in our nervous system and energetic anatomy, as well as in our brain states. The session closes with a guided practice to invite relaxation into your body/mind.

Sankalpa: The Power Of Intention
In this session, we journey deeper into our practice of deep rest with the practice of Sankalpa. We explore our deeper desires and how to plant the seeds of intention within our conscious and subconscious minds. Our session closes with a guided practice to support the creation of your Sankalpa—a deeper intention that you can carry with you into your yoga nidra practice.

Spacious Awareness
The next stage of our yoga nidra walks us through a rotation of consciousness. In this stage, we move deeper into our experience of deep rest as we cultivate spacious awareness and clear neural pathways in our mind for new ways of thinking and being in the world. We close this session with a guided practice to invite the experience of spacious awareness.
Leçon 6
Breath Awareness
Our life force lies within our breath. Our ability to breathe, and the way in which we are breathing is essential to the quality of our health and wellbeing. In this session, we learn to become aware of our habitual patterns of breathing and become empowered to restore balance through the practice of breath awareness stage of yoga nidra. You’ll learn the effects of conscious breathing on the body, mind, and emotion bodies. We close this session with a guided practice to consciously connect with the experience of breath in the body.

Exploring Opposites
In this session, we move a bit deeper into our sensory and emotional world with the exploration of opposite sensations. In this stage of the yoga nidra practice, we are provided with a safe space to explore some of our most challenging emotions. We are given the gift of sensing and feeling them—AND moving through and releasing them. You will learn what happens in this stage, and have the opportunity to explore connecting to opposite sessions in your body and mind.

Visualization: It’s Not What You Think
In this session, we go deeper into our practice to expand our understanding of who we actually are at the core of our being in the visualization stage of yoga nidra. In this stage, we strengthen our capacity to let go of our habitual patterns while in the safe container of deep rest. This session explores the what, why, and how of this stage, and closes with a guided practice to offer you a sense of what occurs in the visualization stage of yoga nidra.

Coming Home
In this session, we’ll complete our walk through the final stages of yoga nidra. We return from the depths of our deepest rest and bring with us the gifts that we have received. We explore the nature of the complete practice of yoga nidra and how to transition back into our daily waking life.
