Empowering,
That's the word.
Teaching people to fish and not giving people fish,
That's always a good thing.
Empowering people so you guys can do things yourself and feel like every single day just try to see what you can do.
Don't focus on the things that you can't control.
Just focus on at least a little bit of something that you know you can do each day.
Like I tell people,
Just do 5 minutes of some exercise and then see if you can do 5 maybe you can do 5 more.
And stack little wins,
Stack the smallest wins every day.
Just stack small wins.
Okay I can do this for 5 minutes,
I can do this for 10 minutes.
If I can make myself go for a walk around the block and just smile to one person and say hi to one random stranger and then come back home and be like okay this was enough,
This was amazing.
Just one person at a time and one small thing at a time.
It stacks up,
It really stacks up.
And at the end of the day you make a little list.
What have I achieved today?
I've achieved this little thing and this and this and this and this and maybe I'm just going to do the dishes and work out for 10 minutes and do my taxes for 2 minutes because that's the worst thing.
And then just incremental things.
We can accomplish so much by doing a little bit and then a little bit and then a little bit and then a little bit and then a little bit.
And pat ourselves on the back.
It's really hard work at the end of the day.
You look at that list and you're like amazing.
Oh but I skipped this,
Nevermind,
Tomorrow.
The key is also with the open head like Julie asked and some of you others.
The key to the open head is you can convince yourself.
You need to develop a healthy way of speaking to yourself.
And you're not crazy.
We all have a voice in our minds that can be your best friend or it can be like the news.
Just horror.
And you need to overpower it by mantras,
By speaking to yourself in a gentle way.
Like being a father and a mother to yourself.
So you can be your own father in your mind by saying you can do it.
Like I'm strong.
I'm actually pretty strong.
Look how far I've come.
Look behind me.
Look what I've managed.
Look where I've gone.
Look what I've endured.
But you also need to be your own mother in your own head which is also very important.
And like 50-50 important which is like I'm doing enough.
I don't need to prove anything.
I can have my own pace.
I can be slow.
I can be slow.
I can allow myself to be slow.
I can be gentle.
I've done enough.
I've done so much.
Like really patting yourself on the back and being gentle and like it's okay.
Like it's alright.
Like just think in those two ways.
Either like you're talking to either a small child and you are the child's mom or you're the child's dad.
So either encouragement in the form of you can do it or in the form of okay that's enough.
You've done so much.
You've done enough.
Now you can rest.
If you can just be one of those two voices anytime you think your life is going to change.
Your open head is going to become such a beautiful place.
