Self-kindness.

I deserve kindness in every moment.

Not only from those around me,

But most importantly from myself.

My ability to treat myself with kindness and generosity is a skill that I tend to every day.

I notice when I get in my own way with negative self-talk,

Harsh criticism,

And unhelpful attachment to the worst-case scenarios.

I tend to those parts of myself with care and patience rather than dismissive frustration or self-indulgent ruminations.

I know that self-kindness starts by loving the most difficult parts of myself first.

I know that it is not only in my most challenging moments that my inner critic likes to come out to play,

But also in moments of joy,

Pride,

And excitement.

Those voices and beliefs that get in the way of celebrating all parts of my life began from a place of self-protection,

And so I thank them for their efforts and extend loving acceptance of the wounds they try so valiantly to hide.

I know that kindness towards my softest spots will generate kindness toward all parts of myself,

And that this is all the protection I truly need.
