Hi,
I'm Esther Boykin.
Today's meditation is all about integrating our knowledge.
Rather than simply being a consumer of information,
I invite you through this meditation to really understand what it means to be a student,
To take the knowledge that you have gathered and weave it into intentional action,
To combine it with your values and your own personal intuitive knowledge so that your choices and behaviors and projects going forward from each moment can be from a place of greater wisdom.
Often our challenge with integrating knowledge is that it feels like we must do something.
But the secret to truly integrating what we have learned is to do less,
To trust in our own abilities.
I invite you to get comfortable,
Trust your body to find the right spot,
The most comfortable position,
And begin to simply notice your breath.
Breathing in and out,
Notice your breath and its natural rhythm.
On the next inhalation,
I want you to breathe slowly and deeply through your nose,
And exhale slowly and deeply through your mouth.
We're going to do that five times together.
Slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth.
In through your nose and out through your mouth.
Allow your breath to resume its natural rhythm.
Notice how your body is able to reset to its own unique ebb and flow in and out.
Notice any sensations,
Feelings in your body as we simply return to our own individual natural rhythm of breathing.
Until the next inhalation,
We're going to practice a different type of breath.
And so you can use your finger or your thumb.
Now the next inhalation,
Breathing in through your left nostril.
And out through your right.
In and out.
We're going to do that four more times.
Breathing in through your left nostril.
And out through your right.
There's no particular pace,
Just breathing in through one nostril and out through the next.
And again.
And out through the right.
Breathing in through your left nostril.
And out through the right.
And now letting your body settle back into its own natural rhythm of breath.
Simply breathe.
Trusting your body's ability to recalibrate.
And know exactly how to breathe.
Allow your body to relax.
And continue to breathe.
Notice what it feels like to trust in your body's ability to regulate itself in exactly the perfect way at any moment.
How even when we change the breath and control our inhalation or exhalation,
That our body is always ready to resume its natural rhythm.
To integrate these new ways of breathing and find its equilibrium again.
Notice where that feeling of trust lives inside of you.
This is the same trust in our natural abilities that allows us to integrate new knowledge.
And allow it to show up in our lives through our actions and our choices.
In our relationships.
In our way of being.
Trust in the natural expansion and contraction of learning.
As you've gathered new knowledge,
That it is through rest and trust that that information can be integrated.
Combined with what you've already known.
Combined with how you feel.
Combined with your values.
To show up in your life in tangible ways.
Without you having to do anything at all.
And just like with a breath.
Know that you can take hold of that knowledge and remember it and use it in specific moments.
Just as we did with our deep breathing and our nostril breathing.
And that that knowledge doesn't disappear when you let it go.
Continue to breathe.
And when you're ready,
Wiggle your toes,
Roll your shoulders.
Bring your awareness back to the present moment.
Open your eyes.
Look around.
Feel what it is to trust in your own ability.
To utilize what you have learned,
What you know,
In the ways that will serve you best.
